  1. Think nothing of it, Dark Moth, it just struck me as funny. Mel Brooks sort of funny, that is. Here is Jesus doing the carpenter thing with no one around so he decides to make his life a bit easier using his Godlike power to drive the nail in effortlessly, but when Joseph comes around Jesus scrambles to get the hammer in hand to appear to be working as a human. Even Jesus was a teenager.
  2. Oh, I can just see Jesus, being God, when alone doing things that a god would do, but when some human comes nosing around he would abruptly stop using his god powers and go native. I mean if you had godlike powers would you actually hammer in a nail or something mundane if no one was around?
  3. Acting the part? Okay, I find that funny.
  4. Bioware's writing skills are somewhat average but Bethesda's is downright horrid.
  5. Okay guys, lets not have this turn nasty. My main problem with the Bible is that it isn't a reliable source of information. The Gospels and the other books were all created after the death of Jesus and weren't actually penned to parchment till the 1st and second centuries. Before that it was all told through word of mouth and one thing I know about human nature we like to make stories more grand than they actually are. I am sure there are kernels of truth within the stories told but as a historical record they are suspect. Also it seems to have a lot of elements borrowed from other cultures. For instance Jesus being a half god, that is straight from the Greek mythos such as Hercules and the such.
  6. I know, but I consider it a polytheistic religion. Just as I view modern Christianity as a polytheistic religion. Personally, I don't think Jesus is God. Just some bloke that had some keen ideas which the establishment didn't like, then it got blown all out of proportions.
  7. I do hope that beth kowtows to the moderate fanbase.
  8. Sweat pants.
  9. It's not polytheistic. In Hinduism, there are gods that are distinctly separate entities. That does make it polytheistic. In Christianity, it's one God with one soul who supposedly manifests in 3 different forms. That does not make it polytheistic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Every god in Hinduism come from the same source, the same god. They aren't separated for they all come from the same god. Just as J-man, the spook, and big G are all connected, they are different aspects of the same person. That is form of polytheism.
  10. The same reason why people see the Hindu religion being polytheistic. Sure, the three aspects are all the same god, but each aspect has its own place, its own personality, its own set of duties, yet they are come from the same source. I see it as a form of polytheism.
  11. Not if it's the same God. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is a very a Hindu-like system, except they don't stop at 3. I still count it as being polytheistic.
  12. I want to reserve judgment but everything I hear so far for Fallout 3 has been bad.
  13. I did say it is something we all need to work on. Including me. Also I am not saying keep all viewpoints to oneself, just religious views, especially if the other person doesn't want to hear it.

70 degree weather where I live. Beautiful.
  15. Especially if they bullet timed it. HA! (w00t) Okay, maybe that would be a bit much.
  16. No. Some of the greatest pieces of literature and art have been inspired by religion, such as John Milton's Paradise Lost, Dante's Inferno, and various pieces of art from Leonardo Da Vinci.
  17. No, he does not. Jesus was a preacher and some call a prophet over 2000 years ago. His teachings are quaint but never truly taken hold and ultimately perverted to fit the needs of an organized religion and give justification for persecuting others who do not fit the religious organization's definition of normal.
  18. Aren't we all. Besides, Muso, there is no need to make personal attacks. That is exactly the sort of thing we do not need. It is something we all need to work on. Some more than others. Only when each of use, meaning every person on the planet, keeps their own religious views and worship between themselves and whatever God they worship, or not, can there be progress.
  19. Dark Raven, that is unreasonable and a major HELL NO. Fallout had great graphics in its hay day, but did not age well. Besides I would love to see some of the death animations in Fallout 1 and 2 in full 3D splendor.
  20. What would make Fallout 3 from Bethesda acceptable: * Full implementation of SPECIAL. We all have seen SPECIAL work in real time and 3 different games. Fallout Tactics, Lionheart, and FOBOS. Each version sucked. It needs to have a turn base option, and balanced for turn base. That does not preclude real time however. * Full roving camera as is used in Neverwinter Nights, but with a 1st person view toggle. I think that could work quite nicely. That way people can set the camera view they prefer, from 3/4 view or first person view (puke). * Story driven plots and full dialog options. No keyword crap as seen in Morrowind and Oblivion. Anyway these three aspects would make the game more palatable to me.
  21. And if they don't convert, then what? What people need to learn, extremists to the moderates is that to respect each others view and let people be. If you have a strong religious belief then good for you. keep it to yourself. Don't judge others. Don't tell others they are wrong in their beliefs. Don't go door to door. Don't push literature. Don't be hassling random strangers on the street. One's relationship with God is a private affair so keep it private.
  22. I expect Bethesda's Fallout be Fallout in name only. Oblivion with guns so to speak, in other words... crap. The style in which the first two Fallouts are completely different in the style in which Bethesda makes their games. I would rather have Bioware do Fallout over Bethesda. Obsidian would be the optimal choice.
  23. Then the same will probably happen with Oblivion.

Odd coloration has always been a part of the Doctor Who series, since it began using color.
  25. I don't really care if it plays a key role in people's lives today or not. My beef is in our government. There are certain individuals in the government, both on the state and federal level, is using religion to dictate policy instead of doing what is right for th people as a whole such as the people who want a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, stop the embryotic stem cell research, and imposing Intelligent Design in the classroom. Only a secular democratic government can be fair to all those being govern.
