The Weird, Random or Interesting Things That Fit Nowhere Else Thread
smjjames replied to Blarghagh's topic in Way Off-Topic
Isn't it more that you're not supposed to expouse your politics like that while in uniform because you're representing the US military at that moment? Don't know the military guidelines for doing that stuff while out of uniform and on a personal account while not giving any references to the US military. Also what GD said. @GD: Don't you mean USMC, not USMA? Also, IMO, wearing a che guevara shirt under the uniform without boasting about it like he did would be fine with me. Military guidelines probably say otherwise. -
Not as complex culturally, but yeah, it'd still be a soup sandwich.

I thought Trump already did the 'Space Force' thing last year?

Did they ever say who the suspect is in the most recent mosque attack there? The article implies that it's due to sectarian conflict, but offers no evidence that it is other than the two mosques being from different sects. As for mosques cheering on 9/11, that was debunked in the US, so, proof? As far as helping the police, it doesn't sound like the police there are being very helpful. Though I don't know what the relations are between the muslim community and the police there or what.

Lol injurai. Anyways, India joins the slowly escalating trade war. For those that don't like CNN, all the sources you'd want: https://news.google.com/search?q=india%20tariffs&hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen

Is this the same type of fake news as with fish feeding in Japan? It all depends on how you define " fake news " If you consider this photo fake news that would mean you reject 100% real and proven events and developments .....in this case even the WH accepts this saluting as real. But you can believe what you want, thats the beauty of freedom of thought https://edition.cnn.com/videos/world/2018/06/14/north-korea-state-media-airs-unseen-video-trump-salute-general.cnn Well, since I specifically asked about the fish feeding in Japan do you think I asked because of concerns about the photo being real or because of false narrative about the photo? Think hard Well, it depends on who you ask, either Trump knew what he was doing or he didn't know what he was doing. NK is going to make propoganda meat out of it regardless. I thought he already started one with Canada, Mexico, and the EU?
-
Hah, I'm pretty sure you had a conniption when Obama bowed to people, but you call this fake news. Beautiful. I didn't call it anything. I asked a question. Considering that NK is the one who filmed it and released it in entirety (no US news outlet, not even Fox, filmed it), is it fake news?

I don't see how it would have cut out a lot of the stupidity, it wouldn't have affected the schism early Islam had, for one.

People using the bible to justify things is nothing new unfortunately, and it comes off as trying to make an excuse when they can't find a legal one. When I saw that this morning, I was like 'what the hell in the bible justifies separating children from parents?'

It's not impossible for one or two parents of a Korean War soldier to have talked to Trump, they'd just have to be over 100 years old. It's far more likely he'd have met with the living descendants or kin of those soldiers. That or he's confusing the Korean war with the Vietnam war.

It never formally ended with a peace treaty. They signed an armistice/truce and the shooting at each other has basically ended. Heres a bunch of examples that would be similar to this where the fighting stopped, but a diplomatic truce wasn't signed for whatever reason: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_extended_by_diplomatic_irregularity Though it's probably more similar to the Kuril Islands dispute mentioned in the article, it's in that same limbo where the fighting ended, but there's no peace treaty.

Let me guess, the thief is white and the car owner is black? And to reiterate chilloutman, how do they even know the weed is the car owners? The thief said it wasn't his and took him at his word? The word of a thief? heh.

Are you trying to hit on Kim Jong-Uns sister, HoonDing? You know that three Californias thing you may have heard of? Well, it's now on the ballot for November. Ballotpedia page While it makes for an interesting thought experiment and a discussion on the merits of it is fine, I'm not okay with having a single person decide how to split up California, it should be the people of California that decide how to split it up. The guy behind the ballot measure is also rumored to have Russian connections, so, nope.

Trump was definetly working his salesman skills there, if not his negotiation skills. If he can con people into Trump University, who's to say he can't con Kim into what Trump wants Kim to do.
-
"It does encourage nations threatened by the US to get deterrents as quickly as possible so the US will negotiate rather than invade, but that's been the consequence of US foreign policy in general since at least Iraq 2, reinforced further by Libya only being attacked after giving up its deterrent." After Sen. Cottons comment, it does make you wonder if Cuba will decide they need to get nukes. Though I'm not sure how much Cuba actually fears that we'd try to militarily invade, given that relations have always been not great and even now they're still not what you'd call mutual neutrality. Then again, Cuba probably decided long ago that the best way to survive is to just not do anything that would provoke the US or give them a reason to militarily invade.

It's certainly a win, for North Korea.... While I'd prefer that they sit down to talk rather than slinging schoolyard insults at each other, it's too soon to call it a true win for Trump due to how vague it is and the fact that we haven't even verified that NK is actually moving towards denuclearization. Cessation of missile and nuke tests nonwithstanding, which is still an important step. Also, I think Sen. Tom Cotton basically said that for us to sit down with Cuba, they need to develop nukes. While he has a point as far as nukes go, NK just set a precedent.

The Weird, Random or Interesting Things That Fit Nowhere Else Thread

It certainly sounds completely unscientific as it's trying to apply 'black feminist categories' to the dogs and whether they feel oppressed. It may be interesting as far as studying animal behavior goes, but they're doing it wrong by applying human behavior to it.
