  1. I like the notion of your PL growing as you get closer to death. However, I think the whole mechanic would be better if you didn't just get the spell resource back in exchange for health, but rather you cast the spell in exchange for health. Then you could make the choice to go out in a blaze of glory casting one of your high level spells which you know will knock you out. But yeah, having a Cipher with Brilliant around is better (but who wants to hang out with those Ciphers and their unnatural powers).
  2. Kapana Tanga has a large downside and that's the subpar pen it has. At Superb it has a pen of 8. Even with the dual damage that level of pen is low enough that you'll be underpenning or no penning a lot of the time. I agree with Tactician/Soulblade though. Phantom Foes is a god tier debuff. Only thing to mention is that Cipher already has unlimited resources, so it doesn't quite get the full benefits of another resource limited class. But Fighter/Cipher is strong period so the point is moot. Still might make a reasonable stat stick to avoid flanked and apply the modal (assuming that matters to your build). It also grants increased engagement (I think you get +1 that isn't mutually exclusive with the flanked immunity) Squid's also has the downside that you have to burn Adra Ban to get rid of the curse (which may or may not matter depending on other priorities). And good point on the Cipher resource angle -- the payoff here is Brilliant which is much more useful when you multi with another resource limited class (though Fighter still gets use out of it).
  3. So if you were going to build a solo build out of this you'd need either Squid's Grasp or Gipon Prudenesco to for their Immunity to Flanked bonus to start with. Confusion would be okayish but Shaken and the -3 PL is too much to swallow. I wonder if Cap of the Laughingstock would block it though? If it would, that plus Modwyr would take care of confusion and it wouldn't matter. As far as all foes are flanked, you would need a lot of engagement to do that sort of thing naturally. Or be a wizard with the multiple blind options. Or as it turns out be a Rogue! Smoke Cloud, Smoke Grenade, and Pernicious Cloud all apply Distracted on Reflex save which also makes enemies flanked. Wow there's a use for those abilities now! Or a Cipher with Phantom Foes. Tactician/Soulblade might be interesting. The club you get from the Black Isle boys can grant immune to flanked as well, IIRC. And the club modal can lower will, which I think is what PF targets.
  4. I'm not sure I "get it" either, but... It seems like you are incentivized to hold onto you Phrases until you reach the cap, then you cast the most costly Invocation you can which gives it and you an increased power level. Then you can do other stuff to take advantage of the PL increase until it crashes. Lather...rinse...repeat. Of course the attractiveness of this depends on: 1) How much of a PL boost you get per phrase (I'm guess 1PL per, but don't know). 2) How long the boost lasts after the invocation. 3) Having other stuff to do that can leverage the increased PL (which I think means multi, since it can't be other stuff the Chanter does, unless there are chants that greatly benefit from PL or the Chanter is just going to hit stuff). At some level it has an Ascendant like feel to it -- build up for a bit, hit peek power, wail away, repeat. But does seem much less effective unless you get a relatively big boost that lasts for a relatively long time (ie longer that Ascendancy does). That seems unlikely. BTW -- I didn't see anything that said the Bellower gets phrases slower. I think they gain phrases at the stock Chanter rate (unless I missed that).
  5. For Blood mage I would have preferred a mechanism more similar to DragonAge -- basically the option to cast using health as your resource pool. So make it a modal which, when active, costs you some amount of health per spell (more for higher level, can be a range if randomness is important) and then lets you cast any spells you want. The net effect is the same, but the current implementation feels a bit clunky (maybe its the best they can do given the available mechanics). Still like the class overall. Not sure about the whole "have lower defenses against bloodied foes" thing (does the fact that they are bleeding all over distract you or something). In general though , I like most of these, at least in concept.
  6. Slightly off-topic, but just to give Assassin and axes some love... One of my recently completed play throughs (PotD, upscaled, party) was with an Assassin/Black Jacket, using Amara as her primary weapon. I felt like combined with the assassin slippers and careful use of smoke veil/shadowing beyond I got pretty good use out of assassinate and the axe bleed modal (mob stance also helped here, kill, invis, assassinate, often second kill, not bad). Add in the stalking cloak and the use of dual blunderbuss to deliver Toxic Strike and it was a very effective character (though I'm sure a BB empowered street fighter would be numerically superior, I just don't like that play style). Anyway, certainly didn't feel gimped by any stretch.
  7. FWIW, for me it is better on Veteran, but still not as it used to be. I engage the beetles and still get the skelly that is at the base of the platform. He never used to agro at that point (and I engaged the beetles west of the bridge to the north). However, on Vet, that's not a real problem (just not as I assume is intended).
  8. Seems to 'work' if you let the beetles see you and then pull them west before engaging. I get the impression it's about where engagement starts. Not sure how far west I need to do this. Every time I engage the beetles I get everyone else on that side of the bridge (3 skellies, revanant, rotgasht). Not cool
  9. -- I just figure you have good divers . Immersion reengaged (somewhat literally).
  10. There are also some Xaurips and an ooze or 2 right as you enter the cave. Not sure if you can sneak past them or not.
  11. Seems to be hit or miss (so to speak). I have an old save which thankfully does not seem to have the issue. But I'm keeping an eye on my dual wielder to make sure it doesn't crop up.
  12. At some point while on Hasongo my party passed through a slog zone and now Eder has the effect permanently. Unfortunately I didn't notice for a while (until the battle at the lighthouse) so I have a number of save games where Eder is borked. I've tried resting, reloading, restarting and nothing fixes it.
  13. That's what I always assumed. As it is, it is really just a minor annoyance (though the very first time I did the fight it did confuse the heck out of me).
  14. For me at least this bug was very intermittent and hard to pin down. It almost seemed dependent not only on the fact that they were transformed, but how the transformed enemy is then killed. But I could never figure out exactly what was going on. I still use the bow even with that risk and at least for me 3.0 seems to have improved things. Also, I have decidedly mixed feelings about the "Soul Diplomacy" upgrade. There is actually some fun involved in the unfriendly spawn and they will also attack your real foes (so they are unfriendly to *everyone*). That effect can sometimes be manipulated to your advantage (at lower levels spawning a Pirate Ogre in the enemy back line can actually be both fun and profitable). YMMV.
  15. Ekera, he chafes at keeping all his godly goodness in a tin can . The build is great BTW.
  16. Has anyone tried turning off gibbing to see if that prevents the issue (given they think it is related to that)? Be nice if that worked around it until 3.1 drops (whenever that is).
  17. FWIW, this has been true for me as well. In most of my runs I've gotten 0 (none, nada) random encounters. I've even spent time deliberately traipsing all over the city just to see if I could trigger any -- nothing. The one exception was a game I started just after the 3.0 patch dropped. In that game I was getting them *constantly*. One time I got 3 of them going from Queen's Berth to Brass Citadel. But then another game started shortly thereafter once again I've gotten none. Whatever mechanism they are using for this is very, extremely bugged.
  18. That has been there since release I think -- I've always thought it was intentional and that she may be a spirit following Shrimp (who seems to have proto-watcher powers). Not sure if the fact you can't directly target her is intentional or not, but that's always been true for me as well. You get some other clues in different dialog choices:
  19. Has anyone taken this? What is the actual reduction (flat percentage, fixed discount, random amount)? Just curious since loaded pockets is a bust, I thought I might try this one next.
  20. I ask because if it has an effect, it is a very subtle one. I've been working on a playthrough with the perk selected (on hold now due to the "downgraded items" bug) and so far I can't tell any difference. Maybe once or twice I've gotten something different, but not enough to really notice. Save/reload when looting wrecks/graves has more benefit. For 12 points it seems that it should have a bit more impact (compare it to the increase skills perk and there is no comparison). Of course it is impossible to know since the description is beyond vague -- so I don't even know how to go about testing this. Anyway, not a big deal in the scheme of things, but I figured I'd ask.
  21. I have sent some other bug reports to “support@obsidian.net” and received a response. Maybe try that address, as I think the developer who responded above made a typo. Thanks, that did the trick. Not sure if it is fixed or not, but I fired off my save game just in case it helps.
  22. I've only seen it happen when you first receive the item. Also not sure if it impacts games started *before* the most recent patch (the game I've seen it in was started after).
  23. Can you please link me to this bug dang https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/105920-downgradingdisenchanting-of-quality-and-unique-gear/
  24. I'm doing a run with this perk, haven't really noticed that much difference so far. I've been making a point to pick-pocket everyone in sight. Run is now on hold due to the unique/exceptional items losing their stats bug (though I had started to think of it as a secret Challenge of Wael )
  25. Just tried to send the save, but emailing "support@obsidian.com" is bouncing with "user unknown". Unless I'm going crazy, that's the address you gave above, yes? Oh well -- time for bed .
