  1. I'm not sure that books can be made into good games, if the developers attempt to recreate them to the letter. And gameplay mechanics tend to break the lore (e.g. wizards in LotR MMO). I think, turning a PnP game into a computer one, and then writing books about it (like DnD) is a better option.
  2. Continuing PT of SWTOR. Met one of the characters from Revan (book).
  3. Exclusive GOG offer: a free copy of Furi for pre-ordering Absolver. https://www.gog.com/news/preorder_absolver
  4. Some minor bugs were met with a hate campaign, which was going even after those were fixed. EA and Bioware supported the game for 5 months and added extra content free of charge*. I am thankful for that. *(unlike, for example, Square Enix who released a paid costume DLC for NieR: Automata, instead of patching game-breaking bugs or fixing PC controls) Edit. I do understand frustration of MET fans and I do sympathize, but it doesn't justify the over-reaction. Edit2. Toned down sarcasm. Can't expect from others to remain civil, if don't do so myself.
  5. Completed Dex (2D Deus Ex: Human Revolution with blue-haired Adam Jensen).
  6. Broke my old mouse, Razer DeathAdder. Got (had for a few years, but haven't used actively) a new one, Razer Mamba. Remembered why I used it rarely, when my hand started to hurt. Mamba feels too flat, compared to DeathAdder. The question - is there a gaming mouse, similar to DeathAdder (form + buttons + software), except another edition of it?
  7. What do you mean? Afaik, no other Obsidian game has "bastard" in the title. I mean just in their games in general like Black Isle Bastards. I feel like their may be a connection that I'm not grasping. From in-game encyclopedia: "Bastard Tier. Named for its position between two realms (the Northern Empire and the Southern Tiers), the Bastard Tier is a melting pot of cultures, and a place of commerce and intrigue. Even following its conquest by Kyros, it remains a strategically vital area, connecting the Empire to the Tiers below, with Tunon holding court within the city".
  8. Tyranny: Bastard’s Wound will be released upon the world on September 7, 2017. The expansion will be available from digital retailers everywhere for $14.99.
  9. Continuing the 1st PT of SWTOR. Finished Alderaan. Haven't seen a lightsaber I could use for a while (the ones I've got require Rise of the Hutt Cartel in order to equip). Also Dex (Metroidvania/Brawler in cyberpunk setting). Animations certainly could be better. Everything else seems fine so far.
  10. Unfortunate, but ending support for ME:A doesn't mean that the sequel is out of the question. I guess, there will be something after Anthem and DA4. Hudson and Gamble seem to be quite optimistic (as possible in this situation). https://twitter.com/CaseyDHudson/status/899094294589341696 https://twitter.com/GambleMike/status/899096870835765249
  11. Continuing the 1st PT of Star Wars: The Old Republic (Jedi Knight). It got better after Taris (and after I stopped taking side quests). Reached Tatooine.
  12. Completed the 3rd PT of Pyre, got all achievements (50) and run out of save slots (5). Attempting to continue PT of Scourge: Outbreak (co-op third-person shooter, I'm playing with 3 AIs).
  13. Why? I have no idea who that is. As mentioned above they made Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (based on Journey to the West) and DmC: Devil May Cry (based on Devil May Cry). Both being good-looking, yet pretentious and mediocre games. The company is focused on graphics, rather than gameplay. Though, Odyssey had rather funny explanation for map borders.
  14. Completed the 6th PT of Tyranny (dual-wielder, NG+, PotD). The difficulty curve is pretty much the same as on Normal (by 1/4 of Act II the player is unstoppable). Glad to see the magic system re-balanced. Completed the 2nd PT of Pyre. Great game, but the combination of single save per PT and RNG is annoying. Got "Enlightened" achievement (defeated Master-level AI).
  15. Does it suffer the same fate as the first? No, "combat" in TToN actually managed to be worse than in PS:T. Ouch.. if it's even more horrid than the first then I'm glad I skipped out. The problem it has is that it's turn based. It's shallow and unengaging, but turn based part makes it really dull and clunky. Recent patch they released was to speed things it, but I didn't give it a shot. Luckily for the most part, you can avoid crisis system. The combat gets better, when the party reaches Tier 3/level 12 and acquires some decent equipment. And opportunities to make use of this equipment arise more often by the 2nd area. Haven't played TToN with the patch, but completed 3 playthroughs before that. It is fun, when you consciously pick fights.
  16. Completed Pyre. I certainly recommend it, yet it is difficult to compose an adequate review now. Also I sincerely admire developers' "Your ending is the true ending" position.
  17. Continuing Lords of the Fallen playthrough. Got lost in one of the last areas (Chamber of Lies) for 3 hours. Defeated the boss of the said area on the 2nd attempt. Edit. Completed the main story and the DLC (1). The game isn't bad, but I did not like the combination of level design (DS1-like) and combat difficulty (an average action-RPG).
  18. Playing Lords of the Fallen. The game is fun, yet it feels like simplified Dark Souls or Darksiders without platforming. Defeated 2 bosses in a row on the first try.
  19. I guess, "manslaughter" is the most fitting ("The crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought"), but "murder" would do. --- "Fading Light" by Aviators
  20. Pyre - "In The Flame" (full)
  21. Unsure about the general consensus here yet, but Tyranny is a great RPG with high replayability, meaningful choices, good graphics and unique magic system. Haven't encountered any game-breaking (e.g. crashes or impossibility to progress) bugs in 5 PTs.
  22. I'd suggest to add buttons "Helpful", "Interesting", "Agree" and "Respectfully disagree" as it is on Paradox Plaza (the "Respectfully" part might be obvious, but, nonetheless, important).
  23. Completed Black The Fall (2.5D puzzle-platformer in an Orwellian setting). Pretty much like Limbo, but more unsettling. Graphics and soundtrack are good. Puzzles are interesting, but simple. Controls, while fairly comfortable, are not customizable and could be tighter.
  24. Something about time-travel in steampunk setting (so player's meta-knowledge would be acknowledged by the game). Or cyberpunk. Possibly, with magic and dragons (like Shadowrun). Times of huge technological, economical and social changes are always interesting.
  25. Playing Sword Coast Legends. Completed the main campaign, started Rage of Demons. SCL is a fairly good RPG (closer to Diablo, than to PoE, though), but it's focused on MP elements too much for my taste. I guess, it is unusual for an isometric party-RPG. The closing song, "The Path of Destiny", sounds somehow familiar.
