So I've ventured to "spice up" Denver a bit more, for lack of a better term. I took Josh's suggestion and built off of what I had. The PCs have to acquire some generators and some medicine to get what the Salvagers have that they need. Getting the generators will be relatively easy, but I'm moving the Slaver population of the locale from a hotel to an old hospital. So getting the medicine will entail either fighting the Slavers or dealing with them. But I'm torn on whether I should add in a third faction to the mix, so that dealing with the slavers to get the meds won't directly contradict working for the salvagers. Maybe take the easy way out and have the main slaver dude looking for a Denver vault or something, maybe having to do with the mind-control "CODE" system in VB (an ambitious way to control slaves). I can then tie this third faction in with said Vault (either coming from it, and tying into the Vault experiment and whatnot, or Tribals inhabiting it or something) and thus expand the RP potential of the locale even more. Conversely, I could Khan up the slavers, and make them an adversaries over employers. Or I could leave that up to the players. But I'm not sure how complicated I want to make this. I've been known to throw too much "Science!" hokum into the plotlines as a crutch, and generally overcooking everything. Maybe simplicity is the way to go. Sure, Denver is a big place in the game, but there are more important things that happen later in the setting (what happens in the design docs is waaaay too difficult for the PC's level), and I don't want to burn out the players on it.

What if the computer is able to modify it's own programming code? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If it did so because of the capabilities given it under some existing program, that still wouldn't be free will, technically.

is there a difference between rpg and fps anymore?

Are you talking about the hooded girl, or the regular zombies? If the regular zombies, you had to burn the bodies / hope for a good head explosion. They were really nerve-wracking, especially in those long hallways, when you'd come out on one end and they'd get up and start making noise off-camera. But generally you had enough time to run back and get some kerosene before they turned. If you're talking about the hooded girl, just run. I went through the game with Chris, but sadly I didn't have enough ammo to face the tyrant at the end I hate it when that happens.

Spike Lee got attached to the JB biopic.

I thought Deus Ex had a very good FPS-RPG combat system. Wasn't twitch, but it worked. I believe I've said that before. -
That's actually from NWN1, where you fight Desther at the end of the first act. Most people didn't get that far. Helm's Deep is from TTT (I made a little bridge ^_^ ). For what it's worth, there are LOTR references all over the ****in' place in D&D, as there should be, and Helm, god of duty, might be one. No idea why that'd be on a NWN2 map, though. *editzorz - Say, I've got my little art book that came with the Special Edition of the game, and there's a barbarian chieftain dude in there who I haven't seen in the game. Black Raven clan or something (don't have the book on me, unfortunately) Cut material, perhaps? Would've been nice to have barbarian warriors fight for you at Crossroads Keep.

My view on Troika was that they didn't "break ground", per se, but Troika's games from a RP standpoint, particularly Bloodlines, were pretty sterling in comparison to games that were being put out by other companies. Had they balanced the game better, I think Arcanum could have been as good as F2, and some of the plotlines (particularly the siamese twin quest) were just jaw-dropping. I blissfully ignore ToEE (couldn't get through an hour) I started out being revolted by Bloodlines' stunning lack of technical sheen, but as I kept playing it I realized how high-quality it was. I'd probably recommend it over any other RPG I've played post-BG2. Troika didn't make perfect games, but their existence was a comforting one, what with their lofty ambitions and whatnot that they could occasionally deliver on.

Loyality or loyalty?

What if they bring guns? You don't bring a knife to a gunfight. This thread might very well have outlived its utility.

It should be pointed out that unlike circumcision, FGM is not affiliated with any spiritual or religious institution. It's connected by some to Islam, but that's an erroneous connection. It's almost exclusively a local African ritual practiced by any variety of people, christian or muslim or other. Not unlike "dry intercourse". Africa is ****ed up in just too many ways. This is true, and in any case the health benefits of circumcision are rendered arbitrary by something as simple like condom use. But still, the case against FGM is much, much stronger. If circumcision is removal of the tips of the fingers, FGM by comparison is the removal of the arms. Functionality and sensation are both rendered null. Removal of the foreskin, if done correctly, lessens some pleasurable sensation at worst.

I have a Wii, and I can tell you that it does not Rox, nor does it Rolz, but it is merely amusing.

I'll probably refer to him as "Soul Brother #1".

I don't know. Kids these days are more acquainted with his mug shot (there it is on the first page) than his music, even as ubiquitous as "I Feel Good" is.

Twilight Princess on my new Wii. Christ, I'm being bored to tears. Time to move back to BG2.

According to some whiners, they do. Here, too. That's only if you equate FGM with circumcision, which is tough to do within reason. But what are we supposed to say? That we don't like it and don't think it should be practiced? Great example to use against cultural relativists, though. Just watch them squirm when they venture to justify why this should even be allowed. Which I guess is the point of this thread. But it feels kind of bad to take something so gravely serious and use it as a blunt instrument. There's a case pending here in the US, down in Georgia. African immigrants, sad stuff. They're trying to pin it on the father, but from the looks of it both parents were complicit, or at least had no problem with it until they broke up.

So was the Passion of the Christ. If we consider flogging to be a sport, which is the better sports movie? Tough one. I swear to G-d, I'm going to see Children of Men here soon.
