Saw The Last King of Scotland. Forest Whitaker was brilliant, as expected, and they did a decent job of making it clear that the progressive, "I want to help these people" white protagonist had his head planted at least partway up his ass (although they confused his altruistic motives and blindingly stupid self-aggrandizing a few times) Still, the editing and the quickening of the pace towards the end were somewhat obtrusive. Kind of a cop-out ending, too.

Hey you goddamn geeks, Bioware is now letting all its upcoming titles ride the episodic content wave. That includes Mass Effect, Dragon Age and JE:SE. The question now is, will it be mainly paltry, neglectable new content, like Oblivion's downloadable stuff up to KotN, or something more robust like Premium Modules?

Oddly enough, I've read the same objections raised against the Alien game. Not on this board, but in places where having such opinions wouldn't be considered trolling. The complaints seem to be that it's not going to be a pure PC game and Obsidian doesn't make the kind of games that cater to the setting. I like to point out that faults of old Obs games won't necessarily make it into the Alien game, and that the game has great potential, but when you know absolutely nothing about a game naysayers will always have the edge in an argument.

I'm playing Bookworm Adventures, because I'm a real man. Contrary to what the article says, the game really has more in common with JRPGs (specifically, the "fighting" system) than CRPGs. Not that it matters. This game beats the pants off of any FF game. At least until we get a FF game with a bespectacled worm as its protagonist. With the FF12 bunny-girl, it can't be that far off, right? *edit - Also, the game itself is exorbitantly expensive, for what it is. I advise recieving it as a generous gift from an internet buddy, if you want to play it.

I'm intrigued by the Preacher series, but as CHUD points out in another article, the pilot's being written by the guy who wrote the POS Daredevil movie, and being directed by the guy who directed the Whole Ten Yards. So it's possible they could fumble this, but it's just the first episode. Could get into better hands farther on.

I'd probably use ATI As well, but my computers get violenetly ill when I install them. I've been relegated to Nvidia because of such stability problems.

I frequent many boards frequented by Englishmen who have this curious problem with "chavs". When everyone else is saying it, it's easy to let it out yourself. I'd recommend staying away from Sociology official forums however. The classism flying around there is rampant.

It's not a big secret / revelation that Castro's on his way out. It's not like it matters anyway. His brother's set to take over for him. His brother (Raul, I think it was?) isn't much younger than he is, but he could last awhile longer.

But in K2 they questioned wether ot not he did so to serve a greater purpose and not just his own.. so while Revan was not the altruistic and lawful Jedi he "should be", the game theorized on wether or not the end justifies the means.. because would it not be a greater evil to follow your principles only to weaken yourself and others when an even greater threat is coming. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But the counterpoint provided was that even though Revan empowered himself and succeeded in repelling the Mandalorians, in doing so he became the greater threat, and did more damage to the Republic and the jedi than perhaps the Mandalorians could. He protected the Republic but because of the corrupting influence of war or the Star Forge or both, he no longer valued the Republic and turned against it. Same thing happens with Anakin, although it's a less compelling implementation. He loves Amidala, and seeks sith power to protect her, but when he starts after that power he loses his perspective and eventually forgets her. Standard "power corrupts" stuff.

Using a few mods, I see. I generally found the drow grrl to be a bit too pretentious in its writing. But it certainly didn't have Soulefain (I can't even remember the correct spelling) beat. I still have nightmares about that kind of thing. Last one I tried was Fade. That was pretty good.

They don't have DVR's outside the States?

There's apparently a scaled-back dx9 port coming to the 360.
