zzzZZZzzz. As for 2001, it's very much the art school kind of film. You get it or you don't. There are Stanley Kubrick people, and there are Bett Ratner people. A film with strong authorial vision that doesn't hand-feed its audience is going to repulse people.

There's a great band named after the main character of that movie. And also, I failed to notice it earlier, but Westerns aren't dead either. There are plenty of neo-westerns, be they gothic (The Proposition), conventional (3:10 to Yuma) or, my favorite, Hong Kong (the soon to be released Exiled) If Westerns are indeed dead, they're dead like Punk, that is, the footprint's still there, and it's deep.
