Heck, it might be cool if you could pick up all the NPCs from both games. Maybe like Baldur's Gate 2, where you can have a certain limited amount of party members out of a larger selection. Maybe throw in a few "should've been NPCs" ie. Yuthura Ban.

Perhaps the KOTOR3 plot would be the friends of Revan and the Exile getting fed up with the disappearance fo their closest friends, banding together and going after them. I say they should perhaps combine old classic KOTOR characters with the best KOTOR 2 characters and a few newcomers in KOTOR 3 for a synthesis of the best of kotor.

KOTOR 3 needs: Plot: Your Party has set out to aid/rescue Revan and the Exile out in wherever they are. Party: Your PC (some Jedi) Carth Onasi OR Bastila Shan (wants his/her Revan back) T3-M4 HK-47 (Droids are always there) Mandalore (wants to kill stuff, as usual) Handmaiden OR Disciple OR Visas Marr OR Atton Rand(whichever you romance in KOTOR2) Yuthura Ban (for kicks) The rest should be new characters.
