Loss of Saves
Townsendvol replied to Townsendvol's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)

[New Patch] Any updates?
Townsendvol replied to Sidushi's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I was glad they did the interview but it was full of softball questions I thought. I did enjoy it but wish they would have asked some additional questions around problems people are having, issues and things they are working on to address them. -

Well that's just crazy talk. I haven't noticed this but to be honest don't think I would be observant enough to. Next time I get to play I will try this. Thank you for posting to the thread. -

Yeah you are certainly not alone, if you can upload your files (Support requested his earlier in thread) it might help them determine whats happened. I know a few of us have been able to do it. Thanks for posting as well, since the more that post in here hopefully the more information they have and the maybe the more attention it will get. -
Loss of Saves
Townsendvol replied to Townsendvol's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
For me the autosaves are still there and those have saved me a few times. It seems to only be the saves I do that disappear. But could be those are the only ones I noticed. I even checked the save folder and all saves were there but mine. And its not every time, sometimes they disappear and sometimes they don't. -

If you can post the relevant files to this message that will help them get to the bottom of it. -

Awesome man, thanks for posting yours. Hoping they can get it fixed before someone gets/feels screwed if they lose a ton of progress. I haven't lost a lot since I noticed it and the auto saves are there but is always a risk. -
I enjoyed it for a few levels but man it was so long. Was too long for me, sometimes I would do part of it then come back to finish it to break it up. it wasn't long enough....imagine Diablo 1 kinda of long...you be running away screaming lol. I just get tired of being kinda locked in a certain area for a long time but it was fine. It was what it was. I was glad it was in there for the people who really love that kind of thing. I did enjoy it. I think it was mean for you to do a few level , then come back again at some time to finish it . As in , do it at your own pace . That's what I did for the most part but I still always had to fight the urge to keep fighting down until I got to the end.

I had early access but didn't use it much because I wanted to go into the game pretty fresh. However I do believe that the earlier that companies give some players access the better, that why its better tested on many different set ups. Ofcourse I mean players that have the games best interest at heart. I sometimes feel a bit bad that I didn't play the beta more to try and help find bugs but that wasn't the reason I backed at the level I did.

I am not big on combat in these games, I mean I don't play it for the combat, I play it for the setting and the story. So most of the time I just play it on story mode. So combat is obviously no challenge. Now I will probably go back and play it on a harder difficulty once I get through it one time on Story mode. I know this wasn't the topic but I do enjoy the multi classing and specializations as it helps me create the character I want. Again not so much for min/max or combat but more for story and immersion. I understand this is probably different than most of you all and that's ok, to each their own. I hope they ramp it up for all yall that want that.

So far I haven't missed the big dungeon experience since there was enough of that in Pillars 1 for me and I don't agree the setting doesn't lend itself well to dungeons. However like others have stated, there could be towers, caverns (Certainly old volcanic ones) Maybe like old lava tubes. I haven't run across this ship yall are taking about but guess that could be another opportunity. For anyone that really enjoys dungeons, sorry you are not getting what you wanted here. I am ok with it so far.

Loss of Saves
Townsendvol replied to Townsendvol's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Hi Doug, thank you for acknowledging the thread and the potential problem. I will certainly try to get you the information you need when I get back home later today. Been loving the game and working around the problem but nice to know you guys are on it now. -

Townsendvol replied to Townsendvol's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
To eliminate one other potential source of your problems, and if you've already examined this please forgive me for asking the obvious question: Do you have any software running that interferes with permissions? A typical culprit would be an anti-virus program, and you can test this by disabling it while starting the game and trying to load, then enabling it again. That does leave a window of vulnerability, but it is a simple way to test whether a given program is the culprit. If you do have such a program running that is actively blocking POE's permissions to access the files, this specific information about which program does it information that the developers will want to know. Of course, if might be something else that is to blame, but whenever "saved information in a game doesn't show up for loading (but the data is still there on my hard drive)" shows up when discussing games, other software blocking permission to access the files is one of the most obvious things to test for and the test to identify which software it is can only be conducted by those suffering the problem, not the development team who are otherwise left guessing. I am not sure how if it was my antivirus that the autosaves would still be there but the saves I name sometimes just disappear and never show back up. So then I have reload from the auto save. Seems like it would impact all of them or atleast impact the ones that were created at the same times (Auto or player saves). I am stunned that there doesn't seem to be more attention on this, I guess we have to wait until more players lose a ton of progress and get pissed off enough to complain on here. Love the game but this is really disappointing. -

Several other threads, actually, but to be fair there are a lot of bugs in any new game (especially one of this size). It doesn't help that there tend to be multiple threads for each issue, which makes it harder for the developers to find new issues. I've just started following every thread I can find on the subject so that, when someone finally solves the problem, I'll hear about it ASAP. I'm really excited to play this game but I can't if I have to restart every time I launch it. Have they ever acknowledged one of them? Or said if they plan to fix it? -

I never had this issue in Pillars 1 that I noticed. I am having it in Pillars 2 and I dont have any cheats on. The auto save thing is good to know. I will certainly make sure to enter or exit something before I quit just incase. Hopefully they will respond to this thread and atleast let us know they are working on it.
