  1. Ummm...no....just no... I don't think Naboo has even been mentioned as a possiblity...
  2. So then in theory wouldn't lightsaber 1v1 combat be much like fencing? Yah, I always considered the sabers something like a katana longsword hybrid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmmm well since we have neither real lightsabres nor do we have force-using Jedi, it's impossible to say whether Escrime, or Fencing, would be better than...say...Kenjutsu while using a lightsabre. (quick note: the "-do" forms are usually more for art and the whole harmony martial arts thing while the "-jutsu" forms are for actual combat, eg Kendo vs Kenjustsu, Judo vs Jujutsu) But to actually make this slightly more of a mute point, both Kenjutsu and Fencing (esp with Rapiers, "fencing" swords with the wide blades, used for actual combat...that actually have a sharp edge on the blade to use) utilize both thrusting and swinging techniques. Though admittedly fencing swings (even with rapiers) are used either for deflection or to deliver non-lethal slashes mostly, when used for attack. But for whether Fencing or Kenjutsu would be better with a lightsabre, here's a few quick arguments as to why Kenjutsu *might* be better. Kenjutsu is at least as fast with the blade as fencing is, which is where one would assume the advantage would come from. (which it doesn't) Both styles are fairly mobile on their feet, so there isn't really much of a mobility advantage for either. ... and lastly, a one-handed form, especially with swords with weightless blades, would never be able to deflect, much less stop, a proper Kenjutsu swing. For this last point you either have to have studied, at least in passing, both forms, or have seen a demonstration. The closest thing to a Kenjutsu/Katana vs Fencing/Rapier demonstration would be a very limited number of demonstrations I've seen between various chinese sword styles vs a Katana wielder. Chinese swords are similar to rapiers in that they are single handed, lightweight, thrusting swords. In these demonstrations the wielders of these thrusting blades were constantly avoiding the swings and thrusts of the Katana, since there is so much force behind those attacks that it would be impossible to deflect. Their only hope was to stay out of range except for very brief spurts when they would close to attack, then they'd have to move right back out of range again. I actually think that chinese sword forms are more effective against Katana wielders than fencing would be because there is so much more mobility involved that it should give a much easier time of avoiding the Katana. (for a quick reference you can watch the newly released "Hero," except minus the many scenes with the wirework...there are a few examples in the movie, however, where there is no wirework) And of course to be constantly avoiding the swings one needs room to move away from the Kenjutsu practioner, and space isn't always plentiful. So here's a few reasons as to why Kenjutsu (some Katana practitioners may want to kill me for limiting Katana use to Kenjutsu) *may* be better with lightsabres than, say fencing, or the multitude of chinese forms. But then again, it might not. We'll never know...until we have force-using Jedi with lightsabres... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry. TO clarify I was refering to foil or epee, not saber. Those use no slashes whatsoever and range is possibly the most important thing. You dance out of range until you lunge in to hit, then run back out. There's alot of mobility in fencing...ALOT. Infact, that's most of the sport. Also, saber parries might be able to block, but foil and epee (bendier blades) would seek to redirect instead of block, using a counterparry. All fencing styles (fencing is like 3 different sports) would try to block at the forte of the blade, which could probably hold up to a Katana unless the blade broke.
  3. Didn't they start KOTOR 2 before KOTOR 1 was done?
  4. Wow, maybe I'm getting tired, but the first half of your post made no sense. About the second... Force wave is the designers way of trying to balance LS and DS. In the books and EU, it would have been considered darkish.
  5. Agreed, but some screenshots and another trailer wouldn't be bad. I expect a smaller update in october(previews), and another trailer + most character info by November. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most BASIC character info. I agree completely, except with LA for advertising the non-sequels taht I don't really care about. You see, those games mostly appeal to the SW market but this one appeals to RPGers also. I don't care for the other style games since I'm a RPGer. THerefore, it just angers me when they suggest (indirectly) that I buy and play Battlefront or Commando while waiting.
  6. But jedi are traditionalists...protagonists always have to stand out so that's why so many memorable characters are unique and don't follow custom. yoda did a defensive reflection of Dooku's attack. Sort of a indirect attack. Jedi learn powers to incapacitate, but not to kill or hurt. If they do, they aren't jedi anymore...at least in Old Republic era. Jedi are defenders. Not offenders .
  7. Unless he's a new prestige class for non-jedi that they WILL INCORPORATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, btw in the 6 min video they said there'd be 10 different people all with different classes you could use...maybe that means there's prestige classes for non-jedi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yah, anyway he has to be a combat oriented class. Unless that armor aids him with his persuasion! :D
  8. Well they got the hype up I think they should release stuff to maintain it. I almost got unhyped about KOTOR 2 2 weeks ago becuase it was getting boring wondering about the same stuff... I want a tiny bit of new stuff. Enough to tease the imagination but not give anything away...like for KOTOR 1.
  9. Eww.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Were those cyborgs or robots? more specifically androids...
  10. Teehee, I was the first person to say those looked like Nar Shadaa way back in the early days of this board, before the influx of n00bs. B) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And I actually remember that. It's people like us who are the veterens!!!!!! And the cool ones in discussions!!!!!!!!!! :D
  11. Was he?? I never met him in my first run, where he at? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sith academy. Do some carth personal quest adn eventually someone in tatooine port will say Hey old war buddy carth I saw your son Dustil at the Sith academy and thought you already knew about it... You go there and do a sidequest and Dustil leaves the sith (if you do it one way) and reconciles with his dad or dustil fights you and dies.
  12. I read somewhere on this forum that they ahd blamed it on Obsidian. I was suprised as I thought Lucasarts was simply ignoring the issue. I guess I can't completely trust my source, but it seems like something LA would do. Also, we are justified upon making whatever claims about this or theories until LA releases an explanation+ (hopefully but unlikely) an apology.
  13. I thought it was canderous but really wasn't sure, so I covered my bases by voting it was a K1 character. BTW Dustil was a K1 character also.
  14. Well LA blamed it all on Obsidian and Obsidian said they both had screwed up a little. Therefore YES!!!!!!!!!!! Obsidian at least pretends to have morals (dunno if they do or not).
  15. Near Hutt homeworld. Swampy. I think it has a highly industrialized moon...and the planet itself is sophisticated but not that industrialized if I remember right.
  16. I think he's somone important, otherwise they wouldn't have made such care to show him constantly repeating covered and disguised. He's important because he shows up so much also.
  17. Either way I think Obsidian has proved itself to be a noble and honorable company, but it has proved this ONLY to those who read their posts and know about them. Thanks to LA (the opposite), alot of people think Obsidian is to blame. Obsidian has done the right things...they have shared the blame even though they showed they weren't that responsible, they supported LA, they took responsiblity, and they remembered their fans. All a stark contrast to LA.
  18. HAHA Sucks to be you! Really man, just cancel the e-mail or list it under your spam until PC version comes out.
  19. Kyle wasn't the model jedi though. Saying why don't jedi have offensive powers like the sith is like saying Why can't big mean small?
  20. The closest jedi have to offensive is stuff like stasis. Jedi just don't have damage attacks (other than specific anti-sith damage attacks). That's the reason they're LS. On the other hand, Jedi can learn one or two DS powers...
  21. I can see Shaada going to a boring sewer crawl...very very easily...like a more boring repeat of Taris sewers.
  22. I've been saying it too, but they just ignore us.
  23. im with you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think they should give us the basics (like absolute basics as they did for KOTOR one with bios and stuff) and leave the rest to the imagination until release. Unfortunately, we're not getting that...but that's ok i guess.
  24. Yah I jsut came back from a long KOTOR break because it was boring. Posting like crazy last 3 days. I bet I have 2 days left in me before I get bored again. It's just that they aren't giving us info to really discuss. When's the last time a new character bio came out? We have practically no info and the game is like 2 months away.
