  1. That nearly made my list, but ultimately I bumped it off in favour of Papers, Please, which whilst I played very recently (like, this very month) had all the qualities I usually believe videogames as an artform ought to strive for. But it's a damn good strategy game all the same, and brings a few memories.
  2. I quite love Supermodified from Amon Tobin. Also his ISAM shows have been a treat to watch, though I enjoyed the music itself a bit less in those cases.
  3. In the short time I've been here, I've met a few people. ...But I seem to have argued with all of them, one sent my file to Agent 47, and I think another posted photoshopped pics of me doing unsavory things in My Pretty Pony. ...But I hope we get more people into your pet project. It's a good one. I'm sorry to hear that, that does all sound pretty awful.
  4. I added in a rule so as to allow people to present a list of fewer choices than 25, if you absolutely can't fill out a top 25. Also, while not necessary, if you guys know of anyone you get along with in the forum who might be interested in taking part, feel free to contact them so that they do! The more votes, the better.

  6. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2527336/reviews IMDb is not really to ever be trusted, but it's curious that I've yet to find a single positive review for TLJ so far.
  7. So, thinking a little deeper about the issues with The Last Jedi, I'll go ahead and copy my phrasing of some of my issues as expressed on another forum, with spoilers:
  8. Yeah, I know what you mean, although my reservations are greated than the feeling that I liked it. I enjoyed watching the spectacle (and I was at a 4DX showing so a spectacle it was) and some of the scenes but others, well, there are some scenes and things in this film I hated more than everything Lucas did in the prequels and that takes some doing. I'll go into details once more forumites have seen it and we can have a discussion without killing the flow of our posts with excessive spoiler tags. One thing though:
  9. Just came back from The Last Jedi. I'm... Conflicted about it. I liked it, and it's definitely worth a watch in cinemas for the sheer spectacle alone (the photography and art direction are some of the best in all of the saga, first films included), but I feel it's the one that left me the least convinced from the Disney outings so far. Without going into spoilers, I do feel that there were a few too many winks, the comedy was often played too broadly (almost MCU-like at times), and there was a pandering both to fanbase demands and to the current 'social climate', with tokenism being a particularly serious and distracting problem. Many have complained about The Force Awakens feeling a lot like fanfic but this goes as far as feeling like fanfic for that very film, and I don't quite know how to feel about that even as I recognize that some of the sequences in here are some of the most evocative moments we've had in the whole saga so far, largely thanks to Rian Johnson's sensibility for the finer details in given scenes. Dunno, I'm certain I liked it but I feel my reservations are pretty great at the moment too.
  10. This subreddit is amusing: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bossfight/top/
  11. Well, the idea was less about the possibility of influence (which is a fine point too, of course), but also the possibility of keeping the results a surprise. All the same, it's no trouble really. If anything posting the lists here has helped the thread stay afloat during the last few weeks, and helped others compile their own. I for one am happy to have more people taking part! :D
  12. Damn, I'm off to see Damo Suzuki live now. I'll watch it when I get back.
  13. If you'd like, you can try to come up with as many as you can and split between them a total number of points equal to five per game you've mentioned. I'll be adding this as a possibility for those who can't name 25 games (though naming 25 would be optimal).
  14. I loved both Logan and Baby Driver, but at this point I'm inclined to go with Dunkirk. That film just floored me. I guess my top 5 right now would look something like: 1. Dunkirk 2. Zama 3. After the Storm 4. Blade Runner 2049 5. Baby Driver
  15. Not quite what I'm saying, however: I'm saying that the case with Obsidian in my experience is that the main characters are well performed, but the supporting ones are *poorly* performed, and that in my experience the less VO there's been in Obsidian games, the more focused and better it's been. As Gromnir says above, bad VO has the power of either ruining a character or changing him from an ignorable addition to an outright bad one, and as far as I'm concerned there's no reason *why* to voice them beyond it becoming slowly an industry standard (this is also why the bugs equivalence is false, since bugs and glitches do speak of a negative trait or a problem in the game, whereas the absence of VO does not). If they can do it well, sure, but experience so far suggests otherwise - which is precisely the issue, which is that I don't trust them to do a good job with this aspect based on past experiences. To flip your argument, if we were promised "good VO" and were certain to get it, then I too would be for it without a doubt - thing is, that is hardly a certainty.
  16. My biggest problem with the notion of full VO is that in my experience with Obsidian games, the VO work has been patchy to say the least. I don't trust that more VO won't merely dilute what quality there is in the main cast further within a mire of badly-performed supporting characters.

  18. By Taranto Quentino? Probably better than The Hateful Eight.
  19. https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/931685848352931840 There's your answer. Though more specifically, I don't think the game will have modding tools included if that's what you're asking for, but it's definitely trying to be more open to being modded.
