  1. There are plenty of interpretations circulating the net but I think things are there mostly for the effect and the reaction it gets from people more so than the attempt to explore a theme or develop a narrative. I don't mind that - I think it's a great exercise in the abstract and oneiric, and I don't really ask for it to make sense; likewise I don't think there is a loss in not focusing on the aforementioned aspects, as I still think that an experience can be powerful from a sheer sensory and emotional level, and that is a great achievement in and of itself. I compared it to music, in a way: while you can certainly explore themes and narratives musically, I don't think most *ask* music to do as much, or listen to music that way most of the time, and much as we may appreciate something like, say, Luigi Nono's "La fabbrica illuminata" for the way its dialogue between vocals and factory samples speaks of the relation between man and machine under communism and so on, we don't hold other pieces back for not developing aurally a given theme or other. From this perspective, as an abstract experience I do think Inside is wonderful and works in spades. Yes, there is also another ending, but it's about as cryptic as this one is and I do feel like the tidbits of ideas that run throughout the game (such as the multiple mind control, and the notion that the boy's movements may themselves be calculated by another abstract entity, be it the doctors or the player himself) are mostly red herrings for what is ultimately a work that is all about effect. Perhaps its through these prompts that the game also reaches an intended effect however. But it's always interesting to see how others interpret it all the same. Glad you enjoyed it, anyhow!
  2. Looks rather curious. I think I like this trailer more than the last one, "Jump" aside.
  3. (warning for language)
  4. Absolutely love the whole of Secrets of the Beehive, and his career as a whole. Even at his worst he's usually interesting all the same. That's a pretty good track too, reminds me of his collabs with Fennesz on Blemish. Kinda like... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFfqT5nYnTM
  5. I have, and it's superb. Very moody and immersive, also quite surprising. The atmosphere as well as the sheer aesthetic design are absolutely superb. As a 2.5D puzzle game it's more on the easy side of things but it's quite nice all the same - to me it's the experience that is worth the most about it. In years of lurking, this message board has achieved legendary status for game advice. Bought and installing even as we speak. Seriously, this is my goto place before I purchase stuff. Well, I haven't been around here for long so I can't speak for the rest of the users here. Just take it as my personal opinion! :D

  7. Yeah, that's what strikes me as weird. It wouldn't be as jarring (though still strange) if the rest of the characters were stylized in a similar fashion, but doing this approach for just this one character seems to only heighten the uncanny valley feeling about her. I'm not familiar with the manga so perhaps there *is* a point to it, but right now I'm not seeing it. Yeah, I like the cast well enough - Mahershala Ali is also great. It's Robert Rodriguez I would worry about though, given how greater bulk of his filmography has turned out.
  8. It's weird to think that the most reined in Robert Rodriguez film in years features a protagonist that kinda looks like a weeb sex doll. I'm not too sure about what's the idea there.
  9. Killing him will surely throw a wrench into my plans of romancing him though.
  10. Same, though I am planning on getting through Hollow Knight and Torment: Tides of Numenera soon enough. As to which is the best game I've played for the first time this year, it's probably Undertale. That was an emotional rollercoaster and then some.
  11. No "uh" between "life" and "finds a way"? DOWNVOTED.
  12. Thanks! Can you PM it to me with the point distribution you'd like between them, though?
  13. I don't mind Super Mario Odyssey being in every category because I have it under good authority that it *is* that good (as with Breath of the Wild), but the rest of the choices are absolute bullcrap for certain. It seems like they only filled the ballots in with whatever fitted out of the top-selling games. I mean, Wolfenstein II for best narrative? Aloy for best performance? Destiny 2 for best ongoing game?! It was released this very year and *already* no one's playing it, ffs! These guys want to fashion themselves as some sort of video game Oscars (maybe? I don't know), but in order to even start thinking about it they've ought to start raising their standards considerably. They're not the Oscars right now, they're the MTV Movie Awards.

  15. He should feel guilt if he's in Milwaukee.
  16. I HAVE SIXTEEN OTHER KNIVES!!
  17. Also, maybe more of an Argentine thing, but this is what is usually heard by my family in Christmas:
  18. Unfortunately no, because your vote is worth more than the points themselves. The points act as tie-breaker between the games with equal amount of votes.
