Critique nr. two. Short dungeons.
algroth replied to Walkyr's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I believe there's a good middle-ground to be found between both, really. I believe long dungeons get boring pretty quickly if all there is to them and to the general exploration is a bunch of rooms and corridors holding trash mobs and a couple of traps, whilst short dungeons can also feel very unsatisfactory due to their sheer length. But short dungeons can also provide a few breathers between the larger and more multi-levelled dungeons, or be interesting and fun on their own if they work upon a very specific and interesting gameplay concept. The sandswept ruins are a clear example of this, for me. But I do agree that I feel some quests would have been better served with more expansive and challenging dungeons the likes of Poko Kohara: the business on the Watershaper's Guild or the quests involving the animancers being some prime examples of this, because they feel pretty relevant within the faction arcs and so on, and instead due to their brevity seem to play more as quick tasks instead.

Good call by FIFA to put Pitana as the ref for the final.

POLL - Where would you like to travel if PoE saga continues
algroth replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Wow, really expected Rauatai t garner a lot more attention here. It was between that and the Living Lands for me, and I ultimately went with the former.

Keep the Ship Mechanic in Pillars 3 or Reuse the mechanics in a Pirate CRPG?
algroth replied to injurai's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I honestly think it depends on what they'll be doing (if anything) with the next Pillars. If the setting is a place like Rauatai which - if I'm not mistaken - is also divided between a mainland and several peripheral islands, then keeping the ship as a stronghold is a good idea. However, if the idea is to follow the game in the Living Lands for example, I don't feel a ship would fit the setting all that much. In that case you could either make a "colony" you start building in the lands your stronghold, or, alternatively, the explorer's caravan that would follow you about as you delve deeper into the jungles and so on. Either of them would present some pretty logical and organic options for a base that you could upgrade and expand and improve and so on, within that particular setting. But again, it really falls down to what we're really looking at as a follow-up.

That's the way I'm looking at the Croatian president right now.

World Cup 2018
I don't agree that either lacks the star power to be honest. Through the last few world cups Argentina's had a pretty great forwards, it's just that the midfield and *especially* the defense have been really lacklustre. 2006's lineup was especially great in that area, but we haven't had a lineup that solid across the field since.

World Cup 2018
Not a very common occurence from what I see... Last time was back in 2006, and before that we'd have to go all the way back to 1982 to find one.

World Cup 2018
Not with France playing the way they are. Right now they're looking like the team to beat. Even more impressive considering how young their new roster is - this bodes well for them in future world cups too.

World Cup 2018
I was only able to watch about 25 minutes of the first half and I'm hating the fact that I'll be misding the rest of it, because it really is shaping up to be one of the best games so far this WC. Anyhow, allez la Belgique and all that! :D

That was such a ridiculous performance. Good on Pitana to sanction him (though the Uruguayans were quick to react).

Theory: DLC 2 is about Durance

Interesting, I didn't know it was by the same director as that who made Beyond the Black Rainbow. Unfortunately the visuals are the *only* thing that film has going for it, and even that aspect grows stale after a while - but Mandy does seem to have a bit more going in its favour and initial reviews are very promising indeed. Here's looking forward to it.- World Cup 2018
