  1. One thing of note is that you can gain a rank in a disposition by acting that way twice. Religious conviction is the source of a priest or paladin's power not the god or order. It is the person's belief in the god or order that gives them their power not the god or order themselves. If a person believed that they still served their god even whilst doing things that went against that god usually preferred their actions, then they could still access those powers.
  2. Don't know if he had any response specifically in regards to criticism but when talking about it they've said they're 'experimenting' with the new system so if doesn't work they'll probably change it back.
  3. Xoti moved to the Deadfire Archipelago when she was a young girl though. She probably has the local accent. I don't think we have any reference for what that accent might sound like, do we? The only character from POE1 I can think of from that area is Sagani, but something tells me Naasitaq is probably not all that similar to the rest of the isles. True, she just probably would've lost a Readcerean hick accent during her time there.

  5. Being a hunter is her profession -she clearly stated that - and I think that the game needed to put her in some class, so ranger is the most logical, but what she did in her village was hunting, not being a ranger, Maia Rua is a ranger, she receive the training to be one, including hunting. Maybe Sagani learned how to be a ranger by herself, that is a possibility, but saying that a hunter = ranger is quite wrong, hunting is just one of the many skill that a ranger has.So, you said that a she's a ranger by rpg standards, so I have to ask, what are the ranger standards in RPG? They are the same of a hunter? And what I'm trying to say is that, she wasn't an explorer like you are trying to label her, she was just a hunter doing her duty, she would have stayed in her village if she didn't got the small stick, Hunter / Ranger are not mutually exclusive - Sagani ranges (weeks at a time) on her hunt, requiring beast-mastery (they hunt with the foxes) and survival skills. She wouldn't have 'stayed in her village' all the time but rather continued to go on the long hunts, returning periodically (and nothing about a ranger says they don't have a home-base). What's her job? She's a hunter. Is she also a ranger? Yes. She was one of those nominated to go after Persoq because she had the skills necessary. Just because her mission was thrust upon her rather than being of her own choosing makes you like her less? Isn't that, like 90% of protagonists? But I've had enough off-topic for one thread - we can agree to disagree on how awesome Sagani was - and look forward to how good Bonteru might be. I know you wanted to end this topic but one quick thing I wanted to add was that I'm pretty sure several of the ranger abilities call them a hunter
  6. Same as when a door is closed between you party an the area you command them to walk to I'd say. You can always try to disarm the trap, and choose to trigger it if you can't. Sure, but the question was how the path finding code should govern traps that completely block your path and my suggestion was that it should treat them the same way it treats closed doors that completely block your path i.e. your party will not pass through. Of course, to make this work you'd need an option to trigger a trap that you can't disarm by clicking on it, since you wouldn't have the option of simply walking through it. Is that currently in PoE? I usually have a high Mechanics character who can disarm any trap so this isn't something I have to deal with. Yes, that is currently how traps are handled if you can't disarm them - it asks if you'd like to trigger it (so you send the one most likely to avoid/reduce the effects of the trap)Only on trapped containers though, currently you have to walk over traps on the floor to trigger them.
  7. Sagani has a huge problem in that her head is a different colour to the rest of her body and it's slightly disconcerting.
  8. There are permanent stat boosts you can get whilst playing a good character. You get a stat boost for rescuing that girl from Noonfrost and one for convincing that guy in Twin Elms not to eat the birds.
  9. Is it though? Surely you'd have to skip a large amount of years, making it very difficult for the Watcher's decisions to have any impact.
  10. I don't think non sapient can be awakened. The beastiary entry for wichts says that animal souls were used because they didn't awaken upon being inserted into the child's body, unlike kith souls. However the whole fact that there's a distinction between animal souls and people souls seems weird considering the example you mentioned above, where a person is reincarnated as a deer. Surely either animal souls and people souls are separate things and thus one cannot be reincarnated as the other or once a soul is out of the body it doesn't matter and thus the whole wicht thing shouldn't have happened.
  11. I saw this and actually wanted to a very small analysis on each class. This is not meant to imply that you have to roleplay each class this way, this is just based off what each class stands for in a general way. I actually based most of these off the little blurb given for each class at character creation. To sum it up I think rangers probably make the most sense and Paladins and priests the least. Barbarian- According to the lore barbarians are often used as shock troops. This would indicate that many barbarians are used to fighting with other people and thus would not want to solo. Still makes sense to solo, just that many barbarians don't Chanter- Chanters are storytellers and researchers in the lore, some in organised groups. This would indicate that many like dealing with people to some degree, if only to get at their books. Makes less sense to solo as presumably they'd enjoy companions, if only for the stories shared whilst travelling, but could be played as someone who likes people but doesn't want to fight with them. Cipher- As ciphers are commonly distrusted it would make sense for them to either want or be used to working alone. However some of their abilities do 'use' an allies essence. Any cipher that used these abilities would want to have someone to use it on and thus would not want to go solo. If you did not pick any of these abilities they could make sense for solo. Druid- The lore implies that many Druids spend their lives living in the wilderness, presumably alone. This would mean it would make sense for many Druids to be used to fighting alone. On the other hand Druids have many spells that boost allies, making it seem that many Druids have allies to use them on. Theoretically these allies could all be beasts that the Druid had charmed though. Fighter- Lorewise fighters are often soldiers and sell swords. Soldiers and sell swords that are part of mercenary companies would be either be trained to or just be used to fighting with other people. Sell sword types that work alone would not be. Monk- All monks learned their abilities through fighting orders, depending on their order this may have been teaching them to fight or teaching them to fight together. If it's the latter it makes less sense to go solo. As it is said that many go wandering it makes sense for them to be solo. Paladin- This is probably the class that makes the least sense to go solo and the abilities show for it. Most of them help allies in one way or another. Most Paladin orders would have trained their members to fight together under them. However as the Kind Wayfarers are so spread out, most of their members operate independently. Members of this order would be used to living and fighting alone. Priest- As many priest spells buff allies it wouldn't make that much sense for them to be someone who goes at it alone. Priests also tend to focus on philosophy, teaching and the relationship of their religion with common folk, making them probably used to dealing with other people. This doesn't necessarily mean they want to fight with other people's though. Ranger- Lorewise, Rangers lifestyles tend to lean towards independence and isolation. This would make them used to living and fighting with just their animal companions. I think this class makes the most sense to solo. Rogue- Rogues are apparently often used as shock troops and often congregate together in cities as mercenaries and hired muscle. This does mean that many rogues have worked together in the past. They probably work well alone as many are meant to have enough wits to pull off their sneaky attacks. Wizard- Many wizards learn to use their power in academia and guilds where they would be with other students. They are probably not taught to fight together though. Many favor environments where research, debating and exchanging of knowledge and opinions are allowed. Therefore many presumably like dealing with at the very least like minded people. This does not necessarily mean that they want to fight with other people though.
