  1. Thanks. You'll just have to manage the wounds carefully until then.
  2. Am I right in assuming that Helwalker for this SC monk build isn't too dangerous, since you'll be using wounds as fast as you gain them to spam WotW, right? So it's really a trade off of high-risk/hight reward Helwalker or the safer Nalpazca with the downside of constant drug micromanagement, right?
  3. That would be a great weapon for a Steel Garrote arcane knight to wield in the offhand, while having Concelhaut's Draining Touch active on the main hand!
  4. Thanks!I was confusing the Lightning Strikes lash with the Turning Wheel lash.
  5. Boeroer, does Lightning Strikes apply the lash to ranged attacks? I thought it didn't, but I may be wrong about this. Also, when you use WotW with dual mortars, do you get the AOE BOOM-BOOM on all six targets? That would be impressive, I'm sure!
  6. It does seem dangerous. While you can manage wounds, spamming abilities to keep them low when fighting powerful foes, one crit at the wrong time, right after a Blood sacrifice that restores a high level spell, could do you in. Definitely not the right build for a Trial of Iron run, unless you like high stakes gambles.
  7. Better and better! Thanks again, Boeroer. I'll try out the combo with a current game, a Tactician/Bloodmage with Monastic Unarmed Training, although it will take me awhile to get the helm. I report back if no one else does prior to then. Too bad that the Helm of the Grotto Deep is coded for poison rather than Corrode.
  8. Thanks for the clarification, Boeroer. Using the grimoire switch exploit, you can use Draining Touch repeatedly, but the duration is still relatively short, right? I believe it's 10 seconds plus the INT modifier, right? Still, you could get in several strikes that, with a good build, would be devastating for the enemy and also provide a nice self-heal. Plus you'd get +10 accuracy with Helm of the White Void since the attack weakens as well. There really are so many details and snyergies in this game that are not apparent when just read ability descriptions. It's one of the things that gives it so much replay value.
  9. Boeroer, I want to make sure I understand this. I am aware that Corrosive Touch is a summoned single hand weapon that can only be used once unless you use the grimoire switch exploit. Are you saying that if you cast it unarmed in your main hand with a club in your offhand, it will summon as dual wield with Corrosive Touch as your main hand? That's cool! Have you tried summoning it with Tuotilo's Palm in the offhand? It would be nice to have the Corrosive Touch/Tuotilo's Palm combo against tougher foes.
  10. It would be great to have more monk specific gauntlets, like BG & NWN. 2 extra mortifications isn't bad, but I miss the gauntlets that add extra damage types.
  11. Thanks, Kaylon. Steel garrote/blood mage is one of my favorite MCs these days, Berserker/tactician would require micro to make sure that s/he is attacking the same foe as a party member. Am I correct that this is to proc brilliant for resource restoration? Clearly tactician's dilemma isn't too big of a problem, since you'd probably use Captain's banquet to solve the weaknesses of both subclasses. And how effective is Frostseeker these days? I've never used it since the base damage is so low, but I understand with the right build, i.e., ghost heart/helwalker, you can proc AOE madness from Garland's rake. I gather this is worth it?
  12. Speaking very generally, Kaylon, what builds would you consider to be the strongest builds in 5.0?
  13. Thanks, Boeroer. I think I am going to do a run with a SC chanter, SC Furyshaper, SC Ascendant, SC Woedica priest, and Steel Garrote/beguiler inquisitor (wielding WotEP). I just have to decide which to make my MC. Maybe the Ascendant, since they seem to require the most micromanagement.
  14. I haven't played Forbidden Sanctum yet, due to restartitis, so I wasn't aware that it featured a Sanguine Plate clone. I'll beeline there in my next game!
  15. How about some red colored plate armor that grants fury when hit? I really miss that from POE 1. More seriously, perhaps some armor for druids and/or ciphers that would reduce the ridiculously long cast and recovery times for their spells?
  16. Thanks for the explanation, Boeroer. I can see that it is ideal for casting while mobbed, which is a common issue for melee casters. I'll try this build again.
  17. Thanks for the tips, Boeroer. I can see a party with a SC chanter, Steel Garrote Herald and a SC Furyshaper Barbarian at its core. I'll definitely get "Her Revenge;" it will be a bread and butter invocation for this character. I'll try White Worms too. I used it all the time in POE 1, but haven't tried it in POE 2 because I read in old posts that it was bugged and doesn't proc consistently. Hopefully this bug has been fixed. I'll read up more on bellower as well; I've never tried this subclass before.
  18. Boeroer, I tried this build recently, and while it is great when offensive parry procs while you are casting spells, damaging your enemy while healing you (slightly, given that 15% of damage with WotEP isn't much), I was generally unimpressed by the damage WotEP does in ordinary combat. In ship battles with Deadfire merchants (circa level 6 or so) it seemed like it took forever to kill anything with this weapon. On the other hand, dual wielding arcane knights seem, in my experience, to be much more deadly. Do you just wield WotEP while buffing, and then switch to more effective weapons to "cleanup" after that?
  19. I was thinking of trying out a single class chanter, almost certainly a troubadour, as my MC for a no rest run, to take advantage of Sasha's singing scimitar for one empowered invocation per encounter. Given that it would be in melee, I was thinking of using a shield in the offhand to make the character more durable. Ultimately I'd like to use Weyc's oracular focus, to further boost the empowered invocations, and Lethandria's Devotion earlier. I was thinking that the MC would be more offensive, using phrases like Thick Grew their Tongues and Long Night's Drink to soften up enemies so the invocations will land, and will have a Herald companion to do more defensive phrases. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on building a melee oriented chanter to make them more durable early and mid-game, aside from just equipping a shield.
  20. Thanks for the answer to my question, thelee. I was planning on trying a no rest run with a SC chanter MC, to take advantage of Sasha's Singing scimitar as the only regular source of empowering spells on such a run. I'll definitely aim for the coil when I reach the end of the game.
  21. He's pretty easy to defeat if you have a fury druid stacking all of the lightning +PL gear. He goes down quickly if you hit him with the Voulge's ball lightning and the seven bolts attack from the mantle. Just position your character so that the bolts all hit him.
  22. Would O'Eld Nary give you five inspirations if it jumps all four times? When empowered it really hits hard.
  23. Storm Fury's very helpful when you are lower level. It has the powerful 1/encounter lightning strike, as well as a 1/encounter (I think) escape if you get aggro. But I tended to ignore it once I reached higher levels.
  24. I believe that this has been discussed in several threads before. Storm Fury attacks do lightning damage, and Bleakwalker FoD have fire and corrode lashes. If you get the Wildstrike freeze talents you'll do damage with all four elements when doing FoD while Spiritshifted. And if you get the scion of flame, spirit of decay and heart of the storm talents, each of those FoD full attacks while spirit shifted will have +3 pen, which means you'll do great damage. The one per encounter lightning attack in this form is also incredible; I got 100+ damage once on a crit with it while level one or two in the sea cave.
