  1. You don't need to use a mod to advance... just pick up the standard, complete the conversation, do a level load (the dungeon works) then load the area back in and she's there.
  2. Wow... just... wow. Wow. Wow. WOW. Nope, I'm still awake. Sad. [/too much text for OP]
  3. Thanks. Now the question is, was it worth doing or just wasting time here and no-one from OE will see it, which I fear if individual threads based on one post here get OE employees 'adding it to the list'... don't want to make 250 threads either. :/ The nagging of doubt... Anyways, game has been completed, so here are the final observations from my very first runthrough of Pillars of Eternity, clocking a good 90 hours. Not bad, not bad at all. Obviously I really like the game . Now the waiting for the expansion starts... Bugs, Quirks and Suggestions: * Azzuro the trader arriving and leaving before arriving at destination. * Fang Hunters near white stag (resolution Saragi questline) leave their Wolf Companions behind when walking away. * Can't use looking glass leftbottom statue at the 'pit' in Burial Isle. * Talk icon doesn't appear on Kana after Iovana dialogue (nor arriving at the bottom of the pit, which is another convo) * Lots of VO at the endgame, a lot voiced. Making the one companion line that isn't stand out, and I doubt that's intended in these cases. Cases are; ** Iovara - Hiravias' "If NEITHER knew the way? [...]" ** Thaos - Kana's "I know better. The engwithians weren't an infallible race. [...]" * Picking up camping supplies at the corpse of Sun in Shadow will wield 'gained an item: 0x Camping Supplies', unable to actually be gained as the corpse has crumbled. * Some odd itemnization on corpses at the end... 2x Ring of Unshackling. Don't think I've seen a stacked ring anywhere else in the game (not that that's not a good idea ) * After finding Od Nua Kana will infinitely repeat his conversation about him upon speaking with Kana, until you select option 7 (Let's talk about something else) My own personal opinion: * Rolling the credits, I find the first song playing much more fitting for Main Menu music than the current track. Maybe just me though. Not to mention that song isn't played anywhere ingame as far as I recall, but the Eora Theme is on many maps. EDIT: The more I listen to Road to Eternity on the soundtrack the more I think it should have been the main menu song... it's just... MADE for it. Why is it there instead?
  4. It's not like they need a pet slot, wasted space on all other characters. GUI space would be the silliest of reasons IMO.
  5. Hmmm... I loaded my endgame save and while there are spider and spiderling, I am indeed missing the Skuldr King aswell, even if I know I murdered it long ago. Didn't check Shadow and Shade, time to reboot the game, but it may just be the Skuldr King entry is bugged at the moment??? EDIT: Shadow and Shade are both there.
  6. Why 15? Modern games have 100 or 150... so a large RPG should have... 300! And we can add NG+ where you PC can comment everything is familiar like you've done it before in certain convo's. Then we got NG++ which turns Xaurip's into Adra Dragons and ofcourse NG+++ where the game just plays itself. You know, for those people who don't really want to experience the gameplay of the game but just the plot. Since we're thoughful that way... ... I really liked Defiance Bay, and it's definitely the area I spend most time in gaming, I've been in that city for what feels like ages. My major problem with Twin Elms was me going to finish of the bounties (which are extremely utterly boring), and some time spend trying to find NPC's which were spoken they were somewhere but not actually spawned till another event. It really wasn't lacking in itself, but as mentioned only having 3 exterior maps at that point of the game was just too little.
  7. I've played it for 89 hours and not a single CTD except from loading the main menu (those bink-movies :/)... If you want help you need to provide us with quite a bit more information than this, since this is nothing. No problem desc, no specs, no nothing. We can't help you with nothing :/
  8. I think it would be a bad idea to buff classes to match the OP cipher rather than nerf the cipher. If we had an all-party strength of all ciphers, well, this game would be pretty easy, no matter what you do. That isn't good...
  9. And THEN wait for Patch 1.0.6. As I'm already doing, leaving the "casuals" with 1.0.5 waiting
  10. Definitely the oddest item-choice. Dungeon Siege had 4 rings IIRC, which was kinda cool. But as expected, rings generally gave tinier bonusses to compensate for it's slots. I would be all for splitting them, as I also think there are few good cloaks but plenty of good necklaces.
  11. And now tell me why you can't in PE. And no "boohoo I needed to use up my resting supplies I wouldn't use otherwise anyway" doesn't count.
  12. Seriously guys, Luj1 is right... PoE is a disgrace compared to Wolfenstein, or RollerCoaster Tycoon. They should have made a corridor shooter or enemy respawn game like Mass Effect or Dragon Age 2. Why are you not opening your eyes. (PS. Nice way to ruin the OP's thread jackass)
  13. Yeah, if someone was to use the download amount to "prove" stuff like 'people don't want engagement' they're just making stastics do their bidding. Personally if I were to download it it would be for the blue circles for NPC's. I would be really pissed if someone then went off and claimed I downloaded it for [other function here]. Also, out of interest since I wasn't around the nets back then, did people discussing BG (2) also used terms like DPS mage, Tank, Off-Tank and whatnot. I really hate those terms 0_o
  14. Well, you can't expect them to just save/load the current area... what if you traveled 5 before you overwrite an older save, do you want the last 4 ignored since it just interacts with the existing area? Saving doesn't just "update changed stuff" without the checking what stuff is changed, otherwise how do they know what is changed? They couldn't know. And I think it's the Stash giving a longer loading time, since (but I'm an amateur could be wrong) it seems it's a physical container added to modules that's updated upon loading And a LOT of people in this thread don't seem to remember how Baldur's Gate (2) ran at release, definitely not the way people see it here with rose-colored glasses.
  15. Pretty sure he has one of those chats too, but no, that's not the dream in question.
  16. Yet still you complain against the people that they didn't do AAA+ work. Can't have it both ways now...
  17. In regards to DR, most systems use percentage based resistances, I personally find this much better. % usually results in 2 solutions; Either they take it into account and end-game opponents give massive damage to somehow overcome the % and still deal damage to the ever-increasing HP of opponents, or enemies level their damage regular, not taking this into account and elemental foes generally feel very weak. Another system is about immunity. D:OS allows you to go over 100% healing on some enemy attacks. Cool, but you can see how this makes certain encounters trivial. And if it can be acquired with just 3 item pieces, that of course puts everything over the table. Others try to prevent this by capping the % on like 80, so it can still damage you, ruining any additional items you find with that defense on it. Also not fun IMO. PoE has the better sollution of that in my opinion. DR can be improved and leveled up pretty infinitevely, without having to insanely raise enemy damage. You can stack them without ever becoming truly immune to all or having to just arbitrarily limit them. You don't have situations like getting 100% early on being for the 5 damage lesser fire elemental and the 75 damage Magma Monster Boss. If you get 10DR, 15DR, 20DR you are 100% still for the early folk, but the Magma Boss can still do something against you. Far easier and better to balance than the % other systems use, and generally drown in.
  18. But then how would you make the PC's protect themselves? Full immunity from everything like my -10AC in Baldur's Gate 1? Wasn't such a great system either. And how would you make enemies harder to kill if you didn't have a system that gave them more immunties to X or Y? Doing just full damage on everything, all the time. Dunno, that sounds even *worse* to me in my book.
  19. Do I just suck? Do you all have massive Edér buffs due to bugs? Since the guy's pretty fragile to me, my main barbarian double-wielder was more fight resistant than he was.
  20. I mean, are a specific set of instructions for one enemy, specifically written for set enemy, and learning those comparable to learning every behavior categorised to the source AI used for all enemies in the game, but just appended to from then onwards with specifications. I don't think so. One should be so easy to remember that you can do it without even reading a script, the other should be indeterminable without actually taking it alone and de-composing it step by step.
  21. I have to agree, the whole "enchantment" thing is IMO the 1st worst thing (2 being trap/lockpick XP) in PoE, totally ruining the joy of finding new weapons or armor. The only items which can be fun to get are (*shockingly*) those who cannot be enchanted! That should already speak for itself I think. Crafting doesn't really affect my game much (I ignored it) but enchanting actively dragged the game down even if you're not using it.
  22. No, but neither do I use it as a dergetory term to insult other players and somehow hover above them, being "better", "more important" etc. without even knowing jack of said person or how he plays. We all know you're not using it in this thread to denote a person using rest a lot in IE, but just as a thinly-veiled "Bitch"... Responding to the argument by ignoring it and instead insult the player. Class A discussion method to win them. Except not. And while you probably don't care since it's not about rest to you anyway, I don't rest much in either PoE nor the IE games. Yes, I've had dozens upon dozens of battles in PoE with some of my members having Major Fatigue. You got a problem with that? Hmmm? So comparing a scripted AI cycle of abilities compared to the common AI routines used for all enemies in a game is somehow comparable now? The further outside the core routine it goes, the less likely something happening is happening due to 'not intended'. However with pile upon pile of exceptions and modifications upon the core, furthering from it may also generate additional bugs. AI isn't that simple, and it's impossible to make an 'unpredictable' AI since that would just be a random AI (and random generally doesn't constitude challenging). It's all pile upon pile of "If X do Y", or if you're really up for it "If A do - x% chance B, x% chance C, x% chance D", but in the end that of course too is predictable once you know it. Since there's no way good and unpredictable can be done with AI. That needs actual humans behind them. And their unpredictability isn't always of the 'good' kind either. Another challenge needed is that you don't need to make enemies too smart. It's fairly easy to make an AI teleport on 25% out of range, heal up to 100% health and then restart combat with you. Does it make good gameplay? No. Several people always wonder why they go for the tank and sometimes ignore others. But go and try an AI that completely annoys your tank, and murders off your support easily before going to him/her. Does this make a fun game? If at the start of every combat instantly your strongest partymember gets knocked out? I don't think so. In the end, really, people will always complain about AI. That's how it is, and always shall be until we eventually make actual Artificial Intelligence that can think and act like a human, complete with errors in judgement and acting of course. But I don't see that happening in my lifetime.
  23. In about 25% of the cases did I actually assassinate the person send to kill (bounties excluded of course). It infact was more common for me to assassinate the person who asked me to assassinate another person in the end. And sometimes everyone died, and sometimes no one died. So no, I don't think that was a given.
  24. People do this??? I've finished plenty of PoE battles where my main tanks got knocked down but my heroic line-up saved the day, pushing enemies away, CC'ing them, possibly converting them, using endurance restoring spells, casting defensives on the attacked one(s). And it's a lot of fun! No wonder people are not having fun if they just reload if things go back rather than skin-over-teeth trying to brink out the victory in a fight that totally went wrong-way on you, and the satisfaction of still winning then.
  25. Well, seems you really took that true for yourself and ruined PoE for yourself. And thereby missed out the best RPG in years. Not our loss 0_o
