Bug bug bugs... Try installing 1.0B; it fixes this bug. Ofcourse it does introduces about 20 new bugs (if not more; I only played Peragus/Citadel and Nihilus ship ) And for the controls; you can edit them in the Options menu... besides for switching gears AAAAAARGHH. WHY did OE ever decided to build upon Kotor 1.0 instead of 1.3 ?

Dunno if it helps but did you try re-installing the latest DirectX? Also use DXDiag (run- Dxdiag) to see if any problems show up on ANY of the tabs...
