If you can find someone to play with, I'd definitely recommend GoW. It was my GOTY of 2006 thanks to the magnificent co-op campaign.

Co-op + sandbox mode puts Mercs2 right in our crosshair.

Heh, I remember those Halo2 burns. Almost thought there was something wrong with the TV. Overall, though, what Xbox games I've played on the 360 (Halo 1/2, Ninja Gaiden Black, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Crimson Skies, Megaman Anniversary Collection, Jade Empire, Thief 3) have run pretty well.

This is one of my anticipated 360 titles. I've never played any game in the series, so I'll have to try out the demo first (which, apparently, might be coming out this month). Hearing how insane the difficult in DMC3 was is one of the appealing factors here. I'm also interested in seeing how it compares to Ninja Gaiden in terms of gameplay. If the demo impresses, I might actually pick it up fairly soon.

No need for personal attacks, guys. Respect DN.

Most of the games I've played *have* had pretty low sensitivity, making for quite slow aiming; but they usually have a good array of options. You can have it turn around very fast if you want. I can't attest to the PS2 controller, but I found the GC controller pretty horrible for 'FPS' controls while playing through a bit of Metroid Prime. The 360 controller, in contrast, I found to be easy to get into. The actual gamepad likely makes a big difference.

You have two analog sticks. The left one is used for moving forward/back and strafing - the equivalent of WASD. The right one is for looking around/aiming, like the mouse. Sure, it's not as efficient as KB/M, but once you're used to it, it becomes pretty easy. I can't say I miss KB/M much, despite the advantage.

I played the PC demo. It plays more or less the same way, except the 360 version doesn't allow you to lean. I don't particularly miss the feature, though. If you have more dexterity than, say, Hades, then you should have no problem with the 360 version. Depends why you'd get the game. If you want to MP with us, then you know what version to get. If you have your own brand of PC gamers, then that's another option. If you want to post on gaming forums and brag about how your PC can run COD4 so flawlessly at high settings and post screenshots, you can also opt for the highly superior PC version. For the SP (which is apparently short), I doubt there's much difference either way. The game runs at 60FPS on the 360.

I wasn't going to get the game at full price because of the lack of a co-op campaign. However, I did trade it in for some old useless games. The multiplayer is a lot more fun than I had expected, I'm pretty impressed. Jerkface is going to get it around Xmas-time. It plays very differently from H3, so they could complement each other quite well. "Baby duty"

Hehe, got the flightstick? It's pretty awesome. I finished the game a while ago. I've yet to play it on expert mode, though.

Wow, I take back all my mockery of Hades. This game is really hard. I had to turn the difficulty down all the way to casual, with the highest aiming assistance. Despite that, I still have to pause the game to manually aim at enemy targets. The game really goes too fast without it. Man, this must be the hardest Bioware game I've ever played, even on the easiest diff. As for the console/PC crap, I was a console gamer before I had a PC (NES/SNES days), and they were pretty awesome back then. I skipped out on the last 2 gens because they didn't interest me so much (3D camera controls with a gamepad with a N64/GC gamepad were hilarious). Despite that, getting into the 360 (which I got into thanks to the emphasis on co-op + online) controller was pretty easy. Took a little getting used to, but they're so much more improved than what I've played in the previous gens - aside from the dpad. If Hades can use a gamepad, it'd be embarrassing for anyone else to use that as the primary excuse not to play on a console.

I trade in a few old console games I didn't like so much at EB for their 3-for-1 deal and snatched up CoD4 (360) and ME. I wouldn't have bought them at full price, but it was a pretty nice deal, since I had no intention of ever replaying those games. For ME, facial customization options seem pretty nice, and at least the faces didn't look like they were beaten with an ugly stick as in Oblivion. Otherwise, character creation was pretty straightforward. Pick class, then get 3 talent skills to invest. Heh. Though, background options were a nice touch. Since Biotics seem cool, I went for Vanguard. Too bad they can't invest in the assault rifle, but I guess the shotgun will have to do. I'm playing on the hardest diff and lowest aiming assistance. That being said, I only played the game for 5 min. Went through the initial cutscene, talked to a few people, and saved/quit before talking to the captain. Voice-acting seems solid so far. Music is niiice. The writing is decent, but urg... "there's a specter on board, this can't be a simple run!" "I bet the council is hiding stuff from us!!" ad nauseum. How many times/ways and with how many characters do they need to telegraph that? We know already. From standard Bioware fare, I guess we already know who the end or near-end boss is at this point. On the upside, I got to name my character Jack Bauer Shepard. I played through the first mission of CoD4. Pretty cool, and pretty much what I expected from the CoD series. I then jumped into the multiplayer, and was pleasantly surprised by how fun it was. I'll eventually make jerkface get this game for the mp. A shame about the lack of co-op campaign, and the lack of online guesting. I also received Contra 4 (x2) from Amazon today. Played with my brother on normal. Stealing lives is as fun as it used to be back in the NES days. This game is hard. We spent all our continues, but we eventually passed the mid-boss and met up with the stage boss. We'll beat it eventually. <3 <3 Contra.

Wait, you're playing this on casual, and have to pause to line up shots? Jolly crap.

I have a DS but never played Pokemon. Your opinion is very important to me. Give me impressions/review.
-
Apparently, you unlock Challenge mode after you finish on easy mode, which is good practice. You can unlock some cool stuff from those, such as the NES Contra1/2, or the Probotector models. How's the music? From what I've heard (not that much), it seemed pretty nifty.

DS. Player impressions/reviews seem to be generally favorable, and it apparently lives up to the series of olden days. I have 2 copies ordered for some good old co-op. I should have them next week.
-
How's the writing/story/characters compared to previous Bioware attempts, anyway?
-
I would have had this game already if it had co-op, but now it's bargain bin time instead. The PC demo was good enough, and pretty much felt like the previous CoD games (which I quite enjoyed, actually). On another note, since some PC Gears of War players are in here, what did you think of the extra Act included there?

I'd rather spend my money on Crysis, thank you very much.

I'm not sure how Nick appears even remotely pubescent.

I don't see why that would be special treatment.

Okay, Carcassonne seems to be a pretty fun board game. Get it free for a limited time from XBLA this weekend. I think it's only available for 48 hrs starting from yesterday. We can play up to 5 players.

Eschalon: Book 1 to be released on November the 19th

I'd rather play Crysis than this. I'm getting sick of playing CRPGs after playing only those for the past 10 yrs. -
How dissimilar to your face.
