  1. I disagree about Baldur's Gate. As far as I'm concerned, the only story elements came from the plot.
  2. I enjoyed the epilogue! It was fun and made me feel bad ass! Ballers for the win!
  3. I don't know what that means. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I doubt he does either, but it's a knock against the PS3 so he's happy.

ME TOO! Let's go Oilers Let's Go!
  5. Well, you load up a module that has items placed in it from the aurora toolset and you select various patterns and specify the parameters for them. For instance, if you want a secret door, you select the Secret Door pattern, and then specify the two secret door objects you want, as well as the secret door triggers for the destinations. While not available for public yet, we have recently added independent behaviours, so NPCs can have a bit of life in them rather than just standing around. You can have maniuplators that walk around to various objects using them (perfect for like a maid or something), as well as guards that wander around a target that they are supposed to guard, saying random things. When you get to close to the target, they warn you to step away, and if you get closer, they may go hostile (or you can modify the pattern by setting up your own actions so that they do something else). The project has assloads of research papers behind it, from pattern based design (My supervisor just went off to China to a Software Engineering talk to demonstrate it from the pattern perspective, using metrics for coverage and efficiency), to alternative forms of story writing in high school English courses (we just finished a study at a local high school where students spent 4 days working on their own story in NWN). The program is all GUI based though, and most users will go through it never looking at a "real" line of code at all.

Here's hoping we come out like gangbusters and have the ol' "Lets win this thing for Rollie" type series.
  7. I don't disagree with the Vol or the guy that's too elite for me. I just thought I'd give it a try
  8. I follow around Mr. Nash, and as a result became fans of teh Dirk-show. Though I am also a huge fan of Dwayne Wade. Egads he's good. But it's still flag at half-mast time for the starting goalie that brought it all together to help lead his team to the finals! Hopefully the Oilers will rally around that and give him a chance to hoist Lord Stanley like he so rightfully deserves!
  9. Scripting ewwwwwww.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most of the work I do isn't specifically scripting based, though there is some code gen. The point of the program I work on is to allow people to create scripts without having to do the actual scripting.

My heart goes out to poor Roloson. He was playing like he wanted to win a Stanley Cup, and won't have a chance to be the one that wins it on the ice. I still think the Oilers have a chance. The odds are lessened, but maybe we'll get lucky and the team will come out like gangbusters, and whoever plays in net will play like they have something to prove (since they do). It's hard trying to stay optimisitic.
  11. I'm playing "Cry myself to sleep as my team's starting goaltender has been injured in game 1 of the finals!!!"
  12. Wasn't PS:T merely (1) Discover you can't die, and have amnesia. (2) Learn about your past (3) confront your past? Fallout 1 was merely (1) Your home people are in danger (2) save your home people (3) Go one step further and save teh whole world by killing teh evil mutants. Fallout 2 was (1) Your home people are in danger (2) save your home people (3) Find out your home people were kidnapped, so go one step further and save teh whole world by killing teh evil Enclave. Baldur's Gate (1) Mentor dies...you are sad (2) Realize that people insist on trying to kill you (3) Find out source of those sending people to kill you (4) Kill that person Baldur's Gate 2: (1) Childhood friend gets kidnapped...you are sad (2) Realize that people insist on trying to kill you. (3) Find the source of that which tries to kill you (4) Kill that person. This is kind of fun actually
  13. Agreed. I don't really re-read anything when replaying KOTOR or BG, because I know what's being said. I only stop for the parts that I know will be different.
  14. I think the story "loses meaning" because you play through it so many times. Personally, I was interested in the story the first time I played through Diablo 2.
  15. Llyranor would likely go out in a Sonny Corleone such way. Since Hades doesn't want in, we'll have to "write him out," preferably in dramatic fashion.
  16. Hmmm. Make it so that the whole time, the PC was actually the murderer! This helps with pissing people off that it would be a pregen...with a history to boot!
  17. 12 levels including tutorial. There's also a cool epilogue that you take part in, but isn't really long enough to constitute a level perse.
  18. I was thinking on making Lou the PI naturally! A murder mystary! Since Ender is gone, he'll be the victim. Lou will investigate. Heck, I'll make him a pregen. Then have a character named Hades/Visceris that absolutely hates the protagonist for no rational reason!
  19. Still need to get Silent Assassin on 3 levels. The last level is goofy hard. I'm not even sure really how to start. It was fun to go through guns a' blazin' (and it made a bit more sense in the plot as far as I'm concerned).
  20. I was going to let you live in my game. Guess I'll have to change that. Fionavar as a big green dragon would be a must!
  21. I have thought about that
  22. Ooooo *zing*
  23. I enjoyed Gothic 2.
  24. Update: I have tons and tons of work to do on it still :">
