Yes really. I'm not even sure how AMD could make a processor that didn't want to work with an nVidia chipset anyways. If anything it would be the motherboard that did it.
-
Well that was a fun little action romp. Good times good times!
-
AMD would lose money in the long run if nVidia didn't run their games properly. You can run an ATI card fine on a computer with an nVidia chipset. Why?
-
Heh, why? Only if nVidia fans were so adamant to not use AMD chips for some stupid reason.

When a game comes with tools specifically designed with the intent of allowing users to create their own stories (like NWN), it probably results in them depending somewhat on mods. Although I didn't actually play too many mods for NWN. I played Shadowlords/Dreamcatcher and that was about it. No PW either.
-
I'm too lazy to go back, but I think I said Buffalo/Edmonton. Hopefully we're fully recovered from that annoying Flu bug!
-
Heh, I guess when you put it like that
-
Which is why we haven't been recommending NWN purely for the fact that you CAN have mods. But rather that there ARE good mods. I didn't bother commenting on The Opera or Action Half-Life when recommending Half-Life, because they weren't worth it IMO. In some people's mind, Counterstrike alone justified a purchase of Half-Life, and they didn't even bother playing Half-Life or anything else. Just CS.
-
That's what I'm thinking too. Except that I didn't really stalk anybody in the Opera level. .
-
I'd be surprised if they just dropped support. It sounds more like a consolidation of capital to help get fabs. I'd imagine they will use graphics cards as an alternative source of income as well, sold under the ATI name.

I don't do anything half assed I also wanted to play with my new toys. My M4 was pimped out like crazy. A lot easier to go through if you aren't being clandestine. I'm going through to get Silent Assassin ratings on all of them now.

If you don't want to judge something that is part of the intended use of the program in question, then fine. If it makes you feel any better to give the game a C, knock yourself out. Don't criticize other people for considering things like that. If you don't consider it value added, fine. I'm not about to stop suggesting a game that has a kickass mod for it, so there's no sense in you telling me how you feel games should be rated. I told people that if they got Half-Life, they could look forward to a kickass mod and get more bang for their buck. And I'll tell people about other future mods for their game purchasing decisions.

I enjoyed the first 2, but I found Chaos Theory to be superior to both of them in pretty much every way. The fact that Sam has the ability to defend himself without his pistol is a refreshing change as wel.
-
I'm more talking about an actual frustrating part of Blood Money that for some reason I can't understand. As for Sam Fisher....I went through Chaos Theory completely undetected
-
Except for some reason he can't get past the Opera without a "witness." I have no idea who this witness is, or how he sees me. I'm not even in a line of sight to the people when they die!

But it is fair to judge a game for its total package. Which happens to include a toolset. Given that some very, very good stories have come out for it, not to mention that the package comes with two expansions, as well as some premium modules, it does have a lot of value added. It's obtuse to simply choose to ignore a mod for the sake of ignoring a mod. Many, many people bought Half-Life and absolutely got way more than their money's worth out of it...and they didn't even play the single player nor the meh deathmatch that came with it. They played Counterstrike.

There's nothing similar between a SPARC processor and an x86 processor either. Stating that they are different processors is obvious, and actually doesn't demonstrate anything. I'm not the one that makes the claims about it being more difficult to code for because it's 8 versus 3. Blame Microsoft fanboys. .... The difficulty is not in learning how to code for a particular core. The difficulty is learning how to program multithreaded programs. Learning how to code for a particular "processor" is easy. And usually, it's taken care of for you when you use a compiler. Unless you're suggesting that Sony isn't shipping with any compilers... Also, coding for a "processor" is misnomer, because unless you start coding in assembler, people haven't really been programming for a processor since compilers were invented....since that's the entire purpose of a compiler....to compile code for a processor. Naturally, Microsoft would never have any companies linked to their wallet.

And since I cannot Edit....the last level is awesome and I didn't really expect it. Nice ending!

No, I crawled everywhere that I could. I just found avoiding combat to be particularly difficult, or just not worth it. Once they were done talking, I could kill them. With some of the level designs, it seems pretty clear to me that the game was supposed to be an action game. I'd rate it an action game (an excellent one at that) ahead of a spy game, but to each his own.

Downloading now. (I missed the boat because I was dumb and wasn't proactive when Steam was getting "Page Not Found" errors). If anyone is having problems with 404 errors when trying to buy ANY game on Steam, try reinstalling it (no need to uninstall). Something somewhere wasn't working on my end and it's running ok. $2.00 for my stupidity
-
I don't. Perhaps more importantly though, I was never really encouraged to. I had no problems playing through the levels run and gun style. The very first level, for example though, has you killing waves of guys with a sniper rifle to protect some bumbling baffoon that is too stupid to realize what's going on

The best game is only rated about 75/100?

The thing I didn't like about Cate was that her games played a lot like GoldenEye 64. They're still combat intensive. The games were also too tongue in cheek. They were a blast to play, but I don't take her seriously enough. Fisher, especially in Chaos Theory (Eldar, give the demo for it a try when you get your new card), sneaks through entire levels avoiding badguys (or killing them if you prefer). My favourite was sneaking into a Missile Silo and disarming a missile with none of the people in the base the wiser. Grabbing people while hanging from a ledge and tossing them down was great fun too!

I know what tools are, and I've seen an XBOX 360 devkit. I was wondering if a typical consumer knows. Often it's abbreviated IDE. You have just given a barebones description of developers tools. Nothing you mentioned will be missing from PS3 devtools. It's not like they're just going to have a console and are going to have to make their own C compiler. Unless you're suggesting that they have to burn their builds to a disc to test them. People frequently talk about how awesome the 360 devtools are, and how crappy the PS3 devtools are. Based on what? Just the testimonials of people speaking on behalf of Microsoft at a press event? Especially considering the question that I asked and you responded to (regarding multithreading). Unless there's some magical "Click here to multithread your program" button (I doubt it), programmers are still going to need to know how to program a multithreaded application. You implied that the 360 will allow for easier multithreading based on its magical devtools. I'm not sure how you're qualified to say that. Really? Wow, I was unaware that the processors were different. There's always going to be issues surrounding different architecture. But, for the most part, tools take care of it. I don't need to learn how to program in a different C language to code a program for a PowerPC chip or a SPARC processor, which have significantly different architectures than an x86 processor that a Windows machine runs on, if I have even a mediocre compiler. People state that the 8 cores are more difficult to code for than the 3 cores, simply because of numbers. This is wrong. There will be some differences based on the capabilities of the cores. But that just means there's a restriction on what you can thread. It doesn't have to make things significantly more difficult to thread.
