  1. I enjoyed the first 2, but I found Chaos Theory to be superior to both of them in pretty much every way. The fact that Sam has the ability to defend himself without his pistol is a refreshing change as wel.
  2. I'm more talking about an actual frustrating part of Blood Money that for some reason I can't understand. As for Sam Fisher....I went through Chaos Theory completely undetected
  3. Except for some reason he can't get past the Opera without a "witness." I have no idea who this witness is, or how he sees me. I'm not even in a line of sight to the people when they die!
  4. But it is fair to judge a game for its total package. Which happens to include a toolset. Given that some very, very good stories have come out for it, not to mention that the package comes with two expansions, as well as some premium modules, it does have a lot of value added. It's obtuse to simply choose to ignore a mod for the sake of ignoring a mod. Many, many people bought Half-Life and absolutely got way more than their money's worth out of it...and they didn't even play the single player nor the meh deathmatch that came with it. They played Counterstrike.
  5. There's nothing similar between a SPARC processor and an x86 processor either. Stating that they are different processors is obvious, and actually doesn't demonstrate anything. I'm not the one that makes the claims about it being more difficult to code for because it's 8 versus 3. Blame Microsoft fanboys. .... The difficulty is not in learning how to code for a particular core. The difficulty is learning how to program multithreaded programs. Learning how to code for a particular "processor" is easy. And usually, it's taken care of for you when you use a compiler. Unless you're suggesting that Sony isn't shipping with any compilers... Also, coding for a "processor" is misnomer, because unless you start coding in assembler, people haven't really been programming for a processor since compilers were invented....since that's the entire purpose of a compiler....to compile code for a processor. Naturally, Microsoft would never have any companies linked to their wallet.
  6. And since I cannot Edit....the last level is awesome and I didn't really expect it. Nice ending!
  7. No, I crawled everywhere that I could. I just found avoiding combat to be particularly difficult, or just not worth it. Once they were done talking, I could kill them. With some of the level designs, it seems pretty clear to me that the game was supposed to be an action game. I'd rate it an action game (an excellent one at that) ahead of a spy game, but to each his own.
  8. Downloading now. (I missed the boat because I was dumb and wasn't proactive when Steam was getting "Page Not Found" errors). If anyone is having problems with 404 errors when trying to buy ANY game on Steam, try reinstalling it (no need to uninstall). Something somewhere wasn't working on my end and it's running ok. $2.00 for my stupidity
  9. I don't. Perhaps more importantly though, I was never really encouraged to. I had no problems playing through the levels run and gun style. The very first level, for example though, has you killing waves of guys with a sniper rifle to protect some bumbling baffoon that is too stupid to realize what's going on
  10. The best game is only rated about 75/100?
  11. The thing I didn't like about Cate was that her games played a lot like GoldenEye 64. They're still combat intensive. The games were also too tongue in cheek. They were a blast to play, but I don't take her seriously enough. Fisher, especially in Chaos Theory (Eldar, give the demo for it a try when you get your new card), sneaks through entire levels avoiding badguys (or killing them if you prefer). My favourite was sneaking into a Missile Silo and disarming a missile with none of the people in the base the wiser. Grabbing people while hanging from a ledge and tossing them down was great fun too!
  12. I know what tools are, and I've seen an XBOX 360 devkit. I was wondering if a typical consumer knows. Often it's abbreviated IDE. You have just given a barebones description of developers tools. Nothing you mentioned will be missing from PS3 devtools. It's not like they're just going to have a console and are going to have to make their own C compiler. Unless you're suggesting that they have to burn their builds to a disc to test them. People frequently talk about how awesome the 360 devtools are, and how crappy the PS3 devtools are. Based on what? Just the testimonials of people speaking on behalf of Microsoft at a press event? Especially considering the question that I asked and you responded to (regarding multithreading). Unless there's some magical "Click here to multithread your program" button (I doubt it), programmers are still going to need to know how to program a multithreaded application. You implied that the 360 will allow for easier multithreading based on its magical devtools. I'm not sure how you're qualified to say that. Really? Wow, I was unaware that the processors were different. There's always going to be issues surrounding different architecture. But, for the most part, tools take care of it. I don't need to learn how to program in a different C language to code a program for a PowerPC chip or a SPARC processor, which have significantly different architectures than an x86 processor that a Windows machine runs on, if I have even a mediocre compiler. People state that the 8 cores are more difficult to code for than the 3 cores, simply because of numbers. This is wrong. There will be some differences based on the capabilities of the cores. But that just means there's a restriction on what you can thread. It doesn't have to make things significantly more difficult to thread.
  13. 110!? Ya sicko. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can't quite read the text because I wasn't zoomed in enough, but one actually survived. I blame the bad dudes. The ran into the common population and freaked everyone out. They all saw my face, so I had to ensure they did not survive.
  14. As for the second dude... Oh, and on the riverboat...someone saw me. Which lead from one thing to the next. No witnesses!
  15. Ultima VII was released a couple of months before EA bought Origin. I think that Elizabeth and Abraham are a coincidence. Especially seeing as you couldn't really say that EA was "backstabbing" them in 1992 anyways. You have to kind of stretch things to consider Elizabeth and Abraham to be backstabbers in the game anyways.
  16. Many of those games are absolute junk though. I did enjoy GoldenEye though. I pick Sam Fisher. Especially with Chaos Theory basically making him a modern day ninja.
  17. eh, except that it has already been established that the vendor-provided dev tools/environment for the 360 are second to none. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's a ton of hoopla about the tools for all the systems. I'm kind of lost in the good and the bad. I wonder what consumers really think when they talk about good tools/environment and whatnot. It's not like the games code themselves. I don't even know what the term "devtools" encompasses, outside of maybe a devkit. This is just a way for them to get you to give you money as soon as possible. It doesn't mean a whole lot really. Though you've essentially given them money for products you have yet to purchase.
  18. Fair enough. Sounds like something that needs fixing in the sequel
  19. It was very dramatic. I mean, what a horrible accident to have happen during a rehearsal. And when things go bad, it ALL goes bad, as his friend was the victim of an unfortunate accident too! Very sad......
  20. On the plus side, you don't need to worry about your CD-Key ever again. I didn't really notice it at the time, but I didn't need to reinput my CD-Key when I reinstalled Half-Life 2. For better or worse, it's all part of their copy protection scheme. I haven't tested it, but I actually think that, in the event you lose your Half-Life 2 CD, you can just download the game off of Steam again. If you don't like it...you shouldn't. The real question is why would you bother coming into a thread with people that are interested in the game just to comment how you felt it was a mediocre game.
  21. http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/sony/sony-ref...umor-176461.php The wonderful thing about Google (and most search engines actually), is you can search for phrases. This was my search string: "PR manager Jennie Kong spoke out against the recent rumor" (including quotes).
  22. I was. As was my employer. I was a bit sloppy though. There was a witness. All because I wanted to recover my suit
  23. Somehow I just knew... I do Computer Assisted Design of living room furniture. Frames. It's even more boring than it sounds. And the pay sucks. <_< <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You should have. I don't believe it's the first time I've mentioned it
  24. Battlefield: Vietnam wasn't. At least not that I know of. I think Wildfire was. I'm not sure what happened to those that played it prior though. It's a bizarre situation because when Wildfire was released, the company that made JA2 was already out of business for a few years.
  25. Working on this. It seems as though I have a webpage link that I did not know about (that goes to a 404 error naturally). Guess which name I am? "
