  1. Just to clarify, what are you talking about with respect to Open Source? The term gets tossed around quite a bit to apply to a variety of situations. Some use it to describe free software, while some stick to Stallman's interpretation of being "free software." Not free as in zero cost, but free as in freedom as in access to the source code.
  2. It's just a concept video. I don't think there's even a game necessarily attached to it. EDIT: Read the information on the right sidebar of the link you provided. They talk about it not being game footage of anything, but a prerendered video of a new series foray in the Star Wars universe. Whatever it is, it's not KOTOR 3.
  3. I made an edit, so I figured I'd bring it to your attention. To retouch on it though, it sounds like your job was more of a "make work" proposal simply because you were a University graduate. If that is the case, I can't see how it's actually a good thing for your country.
  4. I thought there was two he'd vote for?
  5. I'm curious what revenue streams open-source software will provide versus the antiquated copyright. And in particular, if it'd be able to make up the loss of revenue by no longer being closed.
  6. If the company is in financial difficulties (which is usually the case when a company undergoes "restructuring) making a game that is going to cost millions of dollars is a very serious investment. As is concurrent development on multiple titles. Besides, their biggest title is Battlefront. It was their best selling title of all time at one point, and it came out after KOTOR. The Battlefront series is easily their biggest SW video game property.
  7. And there are people that insist that NHL '94 is still the greatest NHL game that EA has ever made, and that no other game has been able to improve upon it. Nostalgia is a powerful thing.
  8. Wouldn't they like playing a better game over and over more?
  9. Or worse. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes that's always a possibility. But if you get laden with Fallout clones, it's going to sour your perception of the style. And as I said, if people were content with just making clones of the good games back in the day, we'd never get a Fallout.
  10. To be honest, I don't know if I'd like a clone. The nice thing about NOT being a clone is that it means it's possible for us to get something different that is actually better.
  11. I wonder how many of us would think the same thing if we hadn't played it all those years ago? I wouldn't be surprised if half the people that claim to love the game so much wouldn't even give it a second look if the originals were never made, and suddenly were released today.
  12. If this type of thinking persisted, then we wouldn't get games like Fallout.
  13. In the PC version it seems really, really easy to score goals from defensemen. The EA onetimer hardly ever works too (though it's probably a timing issue with my roommate and myself playing on the same team. Goalies aren't aggressive enough. You can pretty much be right in front of them and they don't poke check you, and you can just pick the corner. They also play the pass WAY too much. I actually scored on a pass once, because it was way too late and the target ended up going behind the net. But the goalie played it like a pass, so he slid across the crease. The puck just slid right into the net. I was rather unimpressed. I'm glad it was my roommate that bought it, and not me. I'm not sure who the genius was that decided "switch player" should be the same button as "spin-o-rama" when you have the puck. Frequently I'll go to switch players just as he touches the puck, so I'll do a spin-o-rama right in front of my goalie, end up WAY out of position, turning the puck over to the other guy. With the unaggressive goalies, it's almost always a goal. Overall, a mediocre effort. Hopefully the 360 version is better.
  14. Believe it or not, this issue is not just limited to nerds.
  15. Fallout is an excellent game, but nostalgia is a powerful influence.
  16. Black and White received huge review scores as well, but in the end it still left a bitter taste in many people's mouths.
  17. A 10 cm drop in height for people 3 years different in age sets off red flags in my mind.
  18. The fun is in the details. He is essentially just talking about the results. It's easy to criticize the lack of results, but when you don't really talk about alternative solutions that may have received the results you wanted, then really, what's the point?
  19. According to Statistics Sweden, it looks like the average height has steadily increased.
  20. Newsweek online has an article that suggests a "what if" situation for the aftermath of the attack on the World Trade Centre. You can check it out here Personally I think it's a bit too utopian. But as they say, hindsight is 20/20.
  21. Eastside Hockey Manager is a week away!!!!!
  22. Development would have just started, and therefore they would not have had much financial investment in it. A different way of looking at it, would be that KOTOR 3 was likely still millions of dollars away from completion. If they have other stuff that's already done, they won't have to put up as much money since they have already spent some of it.
  23. It seems it is becoming a more common trend to have patches come out on or near the day of release.
  24. From an RP perspective, I remember when some guy tried to double cross my DS guardian in the original Knights of the Old REpublic. I proceed to force jump all of his henchmen, and then proceeded to use Force Kill on him once he was alone. I'm sure his last thoughts were how big of a mistake that was.
