  1. As a funny aside, Electronic Arts just recently revamped the engine for the NBA Live series. Until this past year's version, it had still be built upon old versions of the basic game engine. There were so many parts of legacy code that people years later didn't really know what they did. I guess there was still some old Sega Genesis code lurking deep within the depths of the code base.
  2. It's a sign of having too much money on your hands.
  3. I find it much more common to have the game on ludicrous speed than the HOI2 games.

Naturally I recognized the dude so I knew he was bad, but the way he was talking and trying to make "smalltalk" came off entirely wrong. Depending on the family history, it seemed quite reasonable that he should not trust his brother.
  5. "Hey pal...only what you see." And I think it's a phased-plasma rifle..

I think the Jack senses are in full effect.
  7. It would require they keep their plans to shift focus a secret. Episode 2 was due around about now, and it may well have been in a near finished state, but it would be a pretty ****ty thing to do to release the next chapter when you know you aren't going to be doing any more. Such news would likely get out anyway, which could hurt sales with people not wanting to support the product when they'll never get the other chapters, and ultimately that would make for a bad reputation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not sure. I'd still buy Episode 2 if it came out today.
  8. Except that Jags' issues could just as well be applied to any game made by Bethesda (or any developer for that matter), not just a Fallout game.
  9. Depends on how far along they were in development. For all they know, the game could be the next big bust. If MumboJumbo wanted to shift focus to the "casual" games because they felt that there'd be greater potential for ROI, then in their minds it'd make sense to do so. Surely Episode 2 was already in development. What reason would there be to scrap it, especially seeing as the required amount and time and investment to finish it would be less than one big game. This would allow them to quickly gain revenue, while minimizing the transition time to these casual games. With the benefit of hindsight, since Episode 1 wasn't well received, it's probably a good thing for both parties involved that they didn't work on the one big game. Sure would be a kick in the teeth for MumboJumbo and Relic to lose money on that.
  10. At the same time, it's possible that had the game been one single game, after this buyout the whole thing may have been scrapped.
  11. That's what I'm thinking too, but of course we'll have to wait and see.
  12. There's something wrong with people that enjoy good games, regardless of what they are called?
  13. I'd be surprised if any large scale game had nothing cut from it.
  14. The D&D games I have gotten are the Baldur's Gates, Icewind Dales, Planescape: Torment, and an old Silver Pack that had a multitude of games, which I got because I was a big fan of the original Eye of the Beholder.
  15. I bought it because I heard it was a good game.
  16. Good games = good games. If you were to title Fallout "Bwatibatta" instead, it'd still be the same great game that was Fallout.
  17. I'd buy the better game. This is because I like good games. As you say....it sets the initial expectations. The quality of the game itself still supercedes this.
  18. I think it's more the idea that the mere name of the game has you placing additional requirements on the game. To the point where things are deal breakers, and you will write it off, only because of the name. If there was a game that you really enjoyed playing, does it really matter what it is called?

What league do you play in?
  20. Even if it was everything you were looking for in a computer game?

So you've been keeping track of your goals and assists in roller hockey since kindergarten?
  22. Just catching the spirit of Fallout is not enough for me, especially if they are going to put Fallout in the title. Fallout 1 caught the spirit of Wasteland but was way too different to be called Wasteland 2. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes you've stated this numerous times. To be honest, I like good games. If Fallout 3 had zero in common with Fallout 1 and 2, but was the best game I'd ever seen from a design and gameplay perspective, I'd still be elated.

Good to see Krookie is a modest one.

    Not I.
  25. That's typically the definition I see applied to nerd as well, but I figured I'd play along. I didn't realize that Sedgwick was killed in midsentence, but I do remember him giving a rally speech about how they were safe from gunfire, and then was picked off with a long range shot. Must have been wonderful for morale.
