  1. The insurance company still pays for your damage here (less any deductibles you might have), but it's a hit against your record and likely results in increased premiums. Depending on how many claims you have had. I'd much rather HIS insurance have to foot the bill (and he be noted with the claim against his account), than myself.
  2. Grrr, stupid snowy conditions had some guy pull out of a parking lot in front of me without me having the ability to stop on icy roads, resulting in accident of doom. Car is drivable, but a fair bit of damage. Here's hoping I don't get any unnecessary insurance drama because I'm not at fault. Though there's no witnesses so it's he said-she said. THe guy didn't seem like a **** though. On the plus side, the damage cracked my windshield wiper fluid container, so I can't have any windshield wiper fluid at all.... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu----
  3. Ummm, that's racist how? How many retail sales have only been in the US/Canada that you haven't been privy to?
  4. I never really followed the game, but never had any imrpession of what the game was going to be like haha. I think I expected an adventure type game.
  5. Like if you wish to play a game that lets you what planes make up that Carrier Task Force in the middle of the South Pacific? (I really need to get back on that....I imagine there will be time....SOON!)
  6. The goal of fighting Germany was never the total annexation of Germany or Prussia. Germany's goals of fighting World War 1 was most definitely not a defensive war to prevent total annexation of their country. The Soviets weren't even sure what they wanted to do, consistently changing the internal propaganda for the invasion of Finland based on the results of the war. Initially the goal was to free the working class Finns from their oppressive fascist leaders. Except, when the working class Finns were rallying around the leadership of the Finnish government, so that didn't really work anymore. At this point the propaganda changed from freeing the oppressed working class Finns to building a safety net around Leningrad, as the Western Imperialists were using it to springboard an invasion in the Soviet Union (based on intelligence that France and England were looking to supply Finland, but were unable to due to blockades. The motives continued to change throughout the cold war. From a land perspective, the Soviets gained land. But lost international prestige and were generally embarrassed of the whole incident (though we can be thankful, because the ****tiness of the Red Army made it obvious that the purges had greatly compromised its ability to wage war...something that was probably better to find out against the Finns rather than the Germans). But if you want to tell the Finns that they lost the war, have at it. At best it was a minor strategic victory, but it was really more of a (to borrow from Wikipedia) an interim peace. But when you go into a country with the aim of showing off your power and ability with the intent of telling the Finns they'll have to relocate elsewhere, and your propaganda Minister has to rework the speeches to tell the people that really all they want to do is create a buffer zone for Leningrad from the Western Imperialist, things start to become shady. While Khrushchev admits that despite every advantage, their victory was really a moral defeat, the Finns celebrate the soldiers of the Winter War and the efforts they did to stop the Red Army from taking over their country. If I make plans to go into a country with my vastly superior army, intent on kicking its inhabitants out and fully annexing it, and all I settle with is a piece of land, I'd consider that a strategic defeat. Especially when it comes on the heels of attempting to show the world how awesome you are. Like the Battle of Kursk where many debate whether or not it could be a German Tactical Victory, there's no argument that it was a Soviet Strategic Victory (and a decisive one at that).
  7. I have high speeds too, but bad ping due to wireless
  8. It's predecessor was more epic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_New_York_%28BB-34%29 (Actually not....as far as BBs go much better ones came out )
  9. Actually, try telling the Finns they lost the Winter War. Since they're the ones ultimately best able to tell anyone whether or not they were satisfied with the outcome. And I assume you're talking about Cristiano Ronaldo?
  10. I think the impression is that since you lost territory, you lost the war. When even the Soviet leaders disagree with you, I question how much fact it is. But hey, you said so. Anything aside from you simply saying that it is. Why are the numbers that show the US isn't so hot so wrong? You seem quite insistent that the numbers that demonstrate that the US isn't the best at everything are just flat out incorrect, yet contribute nothing to substantiate your claims that the numbers are wrong and meaningless. Are they simply meaningless because you don't like what they say? Are they meaningless because they don't accurately tell the story? What sort of facts beyond anecdotes give you such conviction?
  11. Do you assign them in character creation or is it like ME where you assign them in game? They are a part of character creation. Pick sex/race/class/origin, pick physical features, assign attribute points, pick skills, pick talents, start game.
  12. No, but actual facts do. All you've done is beat your chest declaring that the US is the best, with nothing to show for it. While at the same time, other people have challenged it, and presented actual data to verify their positions, while you are simply dismissive saying that those numbers are irrelevant, while providing nothing to actually demonstrate how those numbers are irrelevant.
  13. I'll just say that this doesn't reflect on my experiences with the game. I was able to choose both skills and talents upon character creation on both PC and console. My guess is that it's a (weird) limitation of the program released.
  14. RE: Soviet Winter War When you go into a nation with such a ridiculous disparity in armed forces, with the expectation of a quick total annexation of that nation, even if you get something you're hardly considered the undisputed victor of the war. The USSR was laughed at for how poorly the Winter War went based on their expectations and force disparity. In Nikita Khrushchev's words: He considered the victory to be a moral defeat. All of the terms of battle heavily favoured the Soviet Union, but they couldn't force this pesky little state to submit. Sure the Soviet Union gained some territory out of the deal, but any respected historian isn't going to look back on the Winter War in a positive light for the Soviet Union, despite their territorial gains.
  15. IIRC, the last preset if basically a blank slate.
  16. Haha I had a hard date of 1947 or so to conquer most of the known world, and once you break the mainline of the Soviet Union, it takes a while to mop up the rest of it This was with the Historical Stony Road to War mod too, which actually made the game a bit harder. I had to get all of my forces over to the Western Border by September 23, 1939, otherwise the military commanders would insist I wait for winter and if I DoW'd during that time, it caused huge dissent and all sorts of bad things.
  17. Based on your guys' feedback, I wonder if it was released more for those to customize/tweak specifically how the character looks. I heard that you can upload it onto the social site too?
  18. In HOI2 I was usually quick enough to defeat Poland in 6-7 days, redeploy on the western border to crush France before winter was ever a concern. Then I'd head south into Yugoslavia. After that, it was time to focus on Norway and Denmark, and the prepare Operation Sealion.
  19. I believe what they start with depends on what race/class combo you are.
  20. Hmmm, in the actual character creation you do get to specify I believe two talents.
  21. ^^ That is indeed true. And Walsingham, you'd have a hard time convincing everyone in the Commonwealth that they were British. For instance, I'd consider India in 1940 to be officially a part of Britain, though not any of the countries that had obtained Dominion status. Canada received Dominion status way back in 1867, and while we recognize the Queen as the official Head of State via our Constitutional Monarchy through our Governor General, the position is primarily ceremonial with the Prime Minister being our head of government. Referring to Canadian citizens as Britons would have been interesting in the 1930s. Same would have been to anyone referring to Canada as British.
  22. Yugoslavia was invaded after the Winter War had already started. February 1940 IIRC. EDIT: I was way off >.< April 1941. I wonder if I confused it for when I would usually DoW Yugoslavia in my Hearts of Iron games Don't know why I thought it was 1940, as Yugoslavia definitely fell AFTER France. Whoops.
  23. Yes, all those countries were still a part of the British Empire all right Of course, they were all autonomous and even declared war different times than Great Britain actually did. British Empire != Great Britain btw. Or even Britain. You'll notice I didn't include India. Hmm, I wonder why.
  24. If it was summer I'd recommend Canada for the Rocky Mountains. Though if you're a skier you'd like the Rockies in the winter
