  1. Kinda like Pillars of Eternity you mean? There's nothing stopping developers from implementing really cool mechanics into RTwP combat, aside from the fact that such implementation's way more difficult than in turn-based. So... We're stuck with a whole bunch of turn-based games, sadly.
  2. You mean there was tactical depth in Baldur's Gate? 'Cause there wasn't any in mine. I just watched a bunch of dudes auto-attack and sometimes I cast a spell. Did I get a crappy version of a game again?
  3. 3) Blood and Wine sits over here. It might be a DLC, but it's as large as most triple A releases, so screw that. 1) DOOM, because Mick 'God' Gordon and they named him ... The Doom Slayer. 2) Dishonored 2, because in spite of technical issues, the game's utterly brilliant. It ended up being worse than the first game, nonetheless it brought some interesting gimmicks that impressed me quite a bit. Edit: Know what, I'm gonna let politics influence me: They removed Denuvo from DOOM, they did not remove Denuvo from Dishonored 2. DOOM therefore gets the first place. Take that, Bethesda, that'll show you! Edit2: As soon as Bethesda changes their minds and removes Denuvo from Dishonored 2, I'm not going to edit this post as at that point I'll have completely forgotten about it. That's ... Motivation I ... Guess. Edit3: Wait, DOOM is also by Bethesda. Hm. There, that's much better.
  4. DOOM's!? You're a mad person with no taste.
  5. You should. It's kinda great.
  6. Some immunities are overdone, but it really makes no sense for some monsters to be affected by some effects, purely from the lore perspective.
  7. Stopped reading at the shocking conclusion that people on the internet have opinions. Anyway, pt. 3 of Doom documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0nOsuaPDeg If you have negative opinion on Doom you deserve to get negated or... Something, I don't know. My faltering writing skills diminish even further with increasing tiredness.
  8. Yeah, like all the pieces are there to make it a great game, but War for the Underwold just lacks the charm the originals had. And I'm not really speaking from nostalgia either, considering I played Dungeon Keeper games just a few years ago for the first time. I think the problems kinda lie in it being a rather meticulous remake of Dungeon Keeper 2 with not all that much actually added in. Dungeon Keeper games were brave for their time - this isn't brave. It's pandering. It works reasonably well and I've had a decent amount of fun with it, but it's still... Just pandering.
  9. uu, next episode of DOOM documentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsoVQWnSOfM
  10. YOU'RE GONNA READ REVIEWS AND YOU'RE GONNA LIKE IT! Seriously, generally speaking, all I need to gauge whether I'd like a game or not is an uncommented gameplay video. When I'm still unsure, a fair few people have their Steam library shared with me via family sharing at this point, so i just try it whenever I can. I've not spent more than just a few bucks on a game I'd actually dislike in ages now, and when I spent less than just a few bucks on it, it was because I wasn't sure about liking the game anyway.
  11. Eh, the ending of Mass Effect 3 was rather bad - even the logical gaps could be explained away by the Reapers actually being a bunch of idiots, but the ending itself was just the cheapest way to cut the story. However, for a trilogy as massive as Mass Effect, creating an ending which would not end up underwhelming would surprise me and I never really expected it to be anything groundbreaking, considering the main storyline itself wasn't. And that's probably the most important bit - Mass Effect games were never about the main storyline anyway, so the uproar about the ending ruining the trilogy are entirely beyond me. It was always a game about characters, and I don't think I've ever seen a continuous videogaming trilogy which would give its characters as much space and such insane amount of reactivity through the games.
  12. If they finally released them with full controller support for PC and brought them as GOTY editions with all DLC, I would not be mad at all. The actual next step for ME series is a new game called Mass Effect. "We really tried to capture the ... Spirit of what made Mass Effect great, while working on its shortcomings. Like when you look at the Citadel station, you see a vast city floating around in space with a vaguely phallic shape. We at Bioware thought this was just not enough - it's just a city after all, floating in space - so we thought long and hard on how to improve it. So in the new Mass Effect, Citadel station will look like an actual p**** which contains a city floating in space. And yes, I know what all of you are thinking: You can romance the p****."
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwE24fwZAOQ Okay, hearing that WH40k: Inquisitor will be an action RPG made me go "meh", but this got me interested again.
  14. Check out the latest Steam reviews, mentions of bad performance are actually fairly rare. Apparently, for some people, framerate dips still happen, but aren't nearly as severe. The game ran okay for me on launch and runs perfectly now so not much to complain about. As it always is with these things tho: YMMV
  15. IIRC the stretch goal was for playable races, not new races, right? It's not that difficult to make a slightly different looking model for NPC characters and call it a new race, it's something else entirely to create a dynamic character that can fully interact with the world as a playable race.
  16. Played like 3 hours of Vermintide co-op with a friend. It's... Actually tons of fun. Playing the sorceress feels fantastic.
  17. Darksiders 2's fantastic. Honestly I'm not sure why didn't get more popular than it actually did at the time - it's extremely imaginative in its locations, looting system's pretty fun, and combat is kinda great. Add extremely fun dungeons (including some impressive optional ones) and you get a fantastic game.
  18. Aaaaah, so you're just insane. Well that explains everything then!
  19. In other words, you actually enjoy reduced clarity of a scene? Because I don't, I kinda feel like mundane nonsense like rotating the camera every time I enter new scene gets in the way of planning, not help it. Well, different folks I suppose...
  20. The experience gained after reaching lvl 12 is lost, which is fine, because you'll reach lvl 16 by the end of WM pt. II anyway.
  21. Which is why you can create custom characters in any inn throughout the game.
  22. So, I have finished a delivery from Toulouse to Linkoping. Took like 40 hours, I visited a whole bunch of cities along the way, and saw pretty France, not so pretty Germany and pretty Sweden. I am very happy about all of these things. I think I can buy a new truck now. When I played the demo, that aspect was what irked me the most. I would have vastly preferred the game to feature a fixed isometric view.
  23. Considering such a claim could be interpreted as suggesting gamebryo runs well on any other system, I'm not blaming people for jumping the barricades.
  24. Bloom is a bit overdone I think, but it is extremely pretty. It also made my GTX 570 scream in agony. Thankfully 970 overpowers the game enough that I can play it without feeling like flying a helicopter.
  25. a) Euro Truck Simulator 2 is basically cocaine b) I saw this on TV: and thought "Oh god, archers"
