Yeah, now you really have to think a bit before choosing your favorite weapon style. Concerning rogue & Riposte: You can pile up a lot of defense against disengagement on top of your normal deflection with Fast Runner (+5), Graceful Retreat (+12), Cape of Withdrawal (+15) and that lvl 2 chanter phrase "The Fox did run and leap" (+10). So this +42 bonus would stack with your normal (and buffed) deflection. You can then just run past foes and provoke disengagement attacks like crazy - most of them will graze or miss. With the new Riposte it should result in plenty of Full Attacks while also working as distraction for most enemies who will chase you and forget to attack the other party members. I tested this a while ago with the old riposte and it works. It was just not good enough with 20% of all misses. I will test that again soon. And I never tested if Riposte gets triggered while you are rone or stunned. If it does, then switching to the Solace Shield when you fall on your face and having Orlan's Bramble Ring might be great: +100 to all defenses while you are prone or stunned while doing Riposts.

Whaa? You're right! I just tested it and it doesn't. But I was so sure it did when they introduced Persistent Distraction. I remember running the exact same test and it did trigger Sneak Attack/Deathblows - which made the ability very useful. Without triggering Deathblows it's kind of worthless - only good for running away without getting hit - but Escape is way better than that. But maybe my memory fails me completely. Wouldn't be the first time. Three kids taking their toll and so on...

I used a Barricade rogue (Devil of Caroc) in a playthrough when it still procced Thrust of Tattered Veils twice (in this beta, that's fixed). It was very good - also in terms of dps. But I skipped Riposte because it was too bad. Maybe now it's worth it. Even when skilled for tanking a rogue's deflection isn't superhigh and grazes happen a lot. Now - with 30% riposte chance, that might lead to something. Edge of Reason while doing HoF could be seen as a nice instant-heal ability. Ouh! What about dual wielding duplicated Edge of Reason and doing HoF?

Distracted did (and most hopefully still does) indeed trigger Sneak Attack and therefore Deathblows: you need to flank in order to trigger it. Flanking + Distracted are two afflictions and therefore flanking instantly triggers Deathblows. BUT it has to be you who causes the flanking. That means you have to be the first or second character who engages. If you help two guys who already flank a target then nothing happens. This also makes Phantom foes really bad if you have a rogue with this skill in the party. Edit: Tested again and it doesn't trigger Sneak Attack/Deathblows (anymore - or it never did. Whatever: forget my weisenheimering above). No, old Shadowstep had no visible counter. Now it's way better - but still quite useless in my opinion. But maybe it's good for Backstabbing? Step in, doing a Blinding Strike as Backstab and step out? Didn't I read in the patch notes that you can cancel Feign Death now? Or was that just a wishful delusion? Edit: No, you can only cancel Shadow Step now. Nothing about Feign Death.

Of course not. But you can dogde Fireballs and stuff like never before - especially with Weapon & Shield Style which is also great for Riposte. So your defense against some nasty AoE spells is good and you will strike back after melee attacks with Riposte. Badgradr's Barricade seems to be a good idea. Reflecting ranged attacks, raising reflex for Adept Evasion and doing Riposte Full Attacks with the high chance to proc Thrust of Tattered Veils might be great. Sounds like a good caster killer who does some disengagement-induced riposts on his way to the caster while dodging fireballs. By the way: does Riposte also work when you get attacked with a reach weapon? I mean technically you should be out of range. Wait... I don't remember any enemy with a reach weapon. Are there any at all?

Godansthunyr please. I practiced a lot, did an exam and now am a PoE certificated spelling trainer® for that special tongue twister item. I'm also certificated for Ilfan Byrngar's Solace, Badgradr's Barricade and Scâth Gwannek as well as for Elardh Dwr and Blaidh Golan. Eder was my master an I'm the apprentice - I swear.

Rêghar Konnek is also predatory (+10% hit-to-crit) and has speed, which migt alo be important for somebody who only wields a single weapon. Cladhaliath with stunning + vicious might be nice. First stun it with awesome ACC (spears have +5 ACC) and this insane hit-to-crit conversion, then do +20% damage against stunned targets. However - if you plan to flank anyway (+10% hit-to-crit from Hearth Orlan's Minor Threat) then Coordinating will always be the superior choice: +4 ACC and +25% damage instead of only +20% damage from vicious. This would give a flanking rogue Deathblows (Persistent Distraction), +19 ACC (Coordinating, Spear, defelction decreased by flanked), +10% hit-to-crit (Minor Threat) and +25% damage (Coordinating) for tons of crits, fewer grazes and misses and good damage while stunning (which will lower deflection further).

Yeah! Barb and Rogue geht some good stuff in 3.03. Heart of Fury 1/encounter makes it a must-have - and finally the rogue riposte tank might become a great alternative. Riposte now also triggers on 30% of grazes. Adept Evasion's up to 75% graze to miss and 50% hit to graze. Awesome! I will check out how the beta works and then probably post my Badgradr's Barricade rogue - although the spell striking of Thrust of Tattered Veils now doesn't proc twice any more.

Dual Bittercuts: don't forget to take Spirit of Decay - it works with Bittercut, giving you +20% base damage and also +30% corrosive lash instead of 25%. You can then use Bleak Fang and Azureith's Stiletto in the second weapon slot and switch to that weapon slot once Deathblow s are set up. Once the two on crit spells triggered (Jolting Touch & Touch of Rot - very touchy rogue, that one - doing double damage with Deathblows) you can switch back to dual Bittercut. By the way: Vile Thorns is a very fast spell and also works with Deathblows. And you will have 4 of that per rest.

Right! I also experienced the bug with Stalker's Torc. But here (like with the things I mentioned above) it helped me when I unequipped, reequipped and then saved and reloaded. Same with Blood Testament and so on. Even Turning Wheel. There seems to be (or have been) a bug where the game doesn't trigger or catch events properly or they get overriden. I also have problems with all modals: when I hit them (or multiple of them) while the game is paused most of the time (once I unpause) the icon/button in the action bar will have that sparkling border but the actual effect of the modal is not switched on (no mini icon beside my char portrait, no active effect when you look at the char sheet). Triggering modals while the game is unpaused works like it should though.

Yes, it works. Deathblows works with everything that does direct damage nowadays. Scrolls also work. Two White Spires: sometimes spells from items don't show up in the action bar when you equip it for the first time. I have that problem from time to time, too. When I equip Taluntain's Staff for 3 additional Fireballs sometimes I get no Fireball icon at all. Reequipping and reloading solves that issue for me. This also happens sometimes with Spell Holding and Spell Chance items: they don't proc the spell when I equip them for the first time. Also, sometimes scrolls don't release their spells. Animation is played and then nothing happens. Still a buggy game...

Did you console the dupe item into the game or Mold it? Maybe it makes a difference? Actually after my last post I tested both ways and they seem to work identically (Flames sabre and Spelltongue rapier). Cloak of Minor Missiles also works (did not "mold" that one, found it two times). Still didn't test Ring of Searing Flames and Forgemaster's Gloves though.
-
Hm... when I clone the Fireball sabre then I have 2 times 3 Fireballs per rest. The icons sit right next to each other. Works like it should. Same with dual Spelltongue and Corrosive Siphon (two icons with 1/rest each). It also used to work (maybe not after the latest patches) if I found more than one Cloak of Magic Missiles. So I assumed it also works with Forgemaster's Gloves. But I didn't test that. Only with the Flames of Fair Rhian and Spelltongue like 1 hour ago.

Vent Pick only procs the +50% burning lash part of FoD - it doesn't trigger any animation and also no Full Attack. Talents for FoD like Intense Flames don't work with the Pick's FoD. Same thing with Sanguine Plate and Greater Frenzy. I'd say one of the best items for duplication - dps wise - is The Flames of Fair Rhîan. It's an exceptional sabre with a burning lash that gives you 3 Fireballs per rest - which makles it 6 per rest if you duplicate it. A rogue with that setup can dual wield sabres for good damage and also throw fireballs like crazy - which work with Deathblows and Scion of Flame (not Sneak Attack). So his best single target damage multiplier of +100% also translates to AoE damage and Scion of Flame gets on top. And most of the time he will crit with the Fireballs, too, because he has hit-to-crit conversion and high ACC - combined with the +10 ACC from Fireball itself. Add some Fireball scrolls or Rolling FLames in case you run out of spells per rest and you're ready to go. For a barb I would try the Forgemaster's Gloves. 6 times Firebrand per rest is better than 3 per rest. You can use it all the time then. Also good if you have two characters int the party who might want to use it (monsterlash paladin with on-kill-effects/barbarian/rogue).

Hi! Like the title suggests: Weapon Specialisation: Peasant and Weapon Mastery: Peasant don't add to the damage of Novice's Suffering - at least not when you take a look at the character sheet. That's a shame...

Yes, Torment's Reach AoE works with on-crit effects at the moment. Tried Godanstunyr a while ago and it causes stun in an AoE - like carnage does. I think that's not intended but who knows... I have no idea why that Protector got hit twice from one strike - but as I posted some while ago there were severe bugs with Force of Anguish and Torment's Reach on enemies' monks. Sometimes a monk would use Force of Anguish against me and a) hit the whole party and b) caused multiple hits with one strike. So I guess there's still a ton of bugs in that abilities.
