  1. If anymancy was outlawed Thaos wouldn't need to massacre Dunryd Row, he needed to do that during riots because with powers of ciphers they could possibly stop the chaos and calm citizens down, plus with the help of the PC's discoveries Lady Webb knew too much at that point. And unlike the PC and his/her group, Lady Webb is well respected and known member of Defiance Bay's society, so people probably would have listened to her. Thaos could kill her anytime if he really wanted to. Lady Webb mentioned when she ran away from him, it was their(Leaden Key) rule that he had to kill her for it but he never did (because love? ) until was forced to and even then he was reluctant to do so. I really think getting animancy banned is just as good. Once animancy would be banned, everything that Sanitarium animancers had would be confiscated and their research probably destroyed. I mean, sure, most brave and dedicated animancers would go underground, but then they wouldn't have same level of supplies, support and protection by society they once had, as a result it would slow down their research by a lot and Leaden Key's agents wouldn't have legal problems hunting them down. And it's not like with riots going on, means that all animancers die, the ones that survived could also go underground as well, so riots don't exactly solve anything better in this situation. And when Waidwen's Legacy would have ended (from ending its clear that when you used the machine no matter where you send souls or do anything with them Hollowborn crysis does stop, so I guess same goes if Thaos sent souls to Woedica) people would see it as sign that banning animancy was a good idea and gods favored them for it or something. Also from player's point of view isn't it more interesting to know that it's your actions actually triggered certain events rather than it would just happen no matter of what you did or didn't or even showed up? Theory that Thaos had to improvise with killing Duc and causing riots I like more than it just being his plan all along.
  2. IIRC there no different reaction from Duc or others after PC's final opinion on animancy, I meant that I'd like to think that Duc's decision would be his own (and mostly based on evidence against Leaden Key) no matter what PC says about animancy, although they made it look like whatever PC would say, Duc would agree... but we will never know. Hm, I think outlaw animancy is good enough but yeah, I was a bit surprised how subtle this current plan of Thaos was, comparing to other examples of his past deeds.
  3. I believe Thaos did what he did only because you came in and presented the facts that Leaden Key was behind animancy failures, your view on animancy isn't main focus here, theoretically even if Duc asked your opinion on animancy and you would be against it he would have probably allowed animancy to go on at some extent because most of bad things that happened was Leaden Key's fault and you revealed it at the hearings. So Thaos went for plan B at this point.
  4. Haha, ikr. That representative made me feel a bit embarrassed for backing up Dozens. Everyone at the hearings was so professional and civil except that guy, he was so mad and yelling all the time, felt like at any moment he would have killed that animancer in any case. :D
  5. I think there only 2, don't remember for sure, but yeah I agree on PotD should be more than that and Thaos need to have 1k endurance maybe, instead of 200-300 that he has.
  6. I freed the prisoners before I reached the tower and met Aldwin, so wasn't much of a dilemma for me.
  7. 12 lvl, party of 5, PotD, first playthrough, first try. The fight was rather easy, I expected something more of it. Woedica's statues didn't seem much of a threat and I wish atleast Thaos's AI was something similar to fampyr's AI (the way they ignore tanks and just go after damage dealers who has way less endurance and resists) instead of just attacking whoever is in front of him. Thaos: "Srsly, Woedica... I asked you for help and all I got is two giant useless dudes, rly??? Couldn't you summon like one hundred shadow drakes or something..." Woedica: "Oh please, Thaos. If you would just spammed cleansing flame instead of running around trying to stab them with your stupid daggers, you would be just fine." Thaos: "Ugh whatever." When at some point in the fight he would just start autoattacking my tank, he barely did any damage with those daggers and I was like "Thaos what the hell are you doing? You are a priest so just cast your goddamn spells!" Or rather just only one (cleansing flame) that was actually scary... Anyway, too bad there no way not to fight him at all, I mean there is option to tell him that "Yeah, you're right" on his view, at some point of the conversation, which was kinda cool seeing him caught off-guard, at a loss for words by that answer but then conversation goes back to: 1. "You lied to me, you lied to everyone, you lied to yourself." 2. "I must stop you because reasons." 3. [Attack] "Tired of talking." It's almost as if my character was possessed by Iovara at the end the way conversation was going(with no choice whatsoever). But no matter, I loved the gameplay and the story so much. Amazing game!
  8. Yeah, it's unclear for me if gods even care about kith knowing the truth or they just prioritized not letting Woedica become ruler of pantheon again more than that. It was said by Iovara or someone that Thaos and Woedica are allies than just him being her favored servant, which implies that they are equal somewhat. So his goal is to keep anyone to ever finding out the truth about origins of these gods so people's lives do not become meaningless and world doesn't descend in chaos (in his vision) and that sacrifice of his race wasn't for nothing. And Woedica wants to be all powerful again so they help each other: Thaos gathers souls for her and she makes him kinda immortal so he can continue destroy animancy everywhere I guess.
  9. I think it make sense, basically Dozens already hated animancers a lot and after they saw that animancer killed Duc they go bananas, yeah.
  10. I liked that moment, though it was silly of our character to do nothing and just look what Thaos was up to. Funny thing is that if we didn't investigate Leaden Key and told about it at the hearings non of it would have happened. Duc would probably just ban animancy since there never was any progress, thanks to Thaos... But because of our actions we forced Thaos to do something more obvious to insure animancy would be stoped. Kinda sucks for animancers getting mass murdered like that although I didn't like them anyway, because of their experiments on people in Sanitarium and that stupid idea of implanting souls of animals into children. I don't understand how is our speech on hearings about animancy does effect the ending though, I mean it doesn't matter what we said about it as soon as everyone saw that animancer killed Duc, nobody really cared about Leaden Key and our discoveries anymore. I don't believe our character was ever able to explain anything(or wanted to?) to people of Defiance Bay.
  11. It's funny ( and unfair?) how higher intellect will make you suffer in damage, it would make sense for all DoT's to make way less damage if duration is decreased and not just do all the damage in a shorter period. But with things as it is I'm glad that my ranger is super dumb then (3 int ) Thank you for the test!
  12. The Man Who Waits quest in Brackenbury Sanitarium. Such a creepy place with chilling atmosphere. Absolutely loved it! And that moment when you reach out to Uscgrim's soul only to realise that there is another person's essence in him, getting overwhelmed by all the lies and schemes of that person barely understanding any of it and then suddenly yanked back into reality to see Thaos looking at you and clearly recognizing. That was awesome encounter I didn't expected it and then there was a fun fight too after!
  13. Haha, yeah, I kept thinking about that bottle too. Lady Webb should have let Thaos drink it, God knows he needed it at that moment and our character didn't even care about the bottle anyway.
  14. I had impression that resting bonuses from the inn lasts till next rest and from your stronghold much longer than 1 rest.
  15. And besides, where would you take the ingredienst for enchanting early in the game. You're not stocked up yet and that pistol is really worth nothing compared to any wayward crossbow you can buy at your nearest convenience. Actually you can upgrade it to "fine" very early in the game without much of fights taken, I must admit I only know this because I was watching some of MalleGT's Triple Crown Solo runs. However on my first playthrough I didn't know where can I get ingredients fast but still I upgraded it quite early but only +accuracy and I didn't know you can just get to Kana fast and take away his arquebus. Also pistols and arquebuses has DR bypass so in those terms it often better than crossbows. Either way Disappointer did not disappoint me.
  16. Pistol wielding gunfighter comes to my mind. You may want to take vulnerable attack in addition to the DR bypass that a pistol gives. You'll want to support Eder as much as possible. Let Eder be your TANK, you be the GUNFIGHTER. Does anyone know if it's viable to have four weapon slots, with a pistol in each slot? Then you take the talent that lets you switch weapons really fast. Bam, four pistol shots in a row baby, HOLY **** THAT'S SOME GUN FIGHTIN SON!! Yeah, it's very good and fun build my main rogue was like that but only with x3 arquebuses not 4 because of elf race for rp reasons
  17. The difference is that you get the statues to tank it for you . It also gives a more "legit" feeling to me as you're sort of fighting them simultaneously, but that's personal preference. It was possible to brute force the fight in 1.04 with some lucky petrify rolls, but I don't think it's gonna work in 1.05. And it wasn't a TC worthy strategy anyway, since it worked like maybe in 70% cases. Start is actually always the same, so it's easy to reproduce. I'll post some general tips later. Oh, well done! Before I only have seen split-to-win type of strategy which is a bit strange that it works because for example Adra Dragon boss would kept chasing you through that big ass map non-stop but here Thaos and his guys are unable to do that in that small room.
  18. Except in time when nothing waits you like in examples of some BG1 maps but yeah PoE doesn't have those problems every map is thoroughly designed and has interesting encounters everywhere.
  19. Damn, that title made me feel guilty. At first I wanted to get to Raedric in more sneaky way without killing much guards since I love stealth-based games + my main was rogue but then I had a need to explore every corner of the castle... So yeah... All dead. Not so stealthy. I apologize for killing all guards in there I can't imagine all of them were morons like Raedric.
  20. Imo barbarian is just like fighter but with AoE autoattacking. So I'd say rogue is more fun. I had both rogue and barbarian in my PotD party even though my rogue was ranged one I still had to micro her more than barbarian. I would assume melee rogue will require even more micro due to the fact of up close combat and small amount of endurance and you would need to keep those negative effects on enemies that proc rogue's sneak attacks.
