  1. Huh, why? I'm not very interested in buying the game myself, because I don't have enough spending income to buy things i suspect I may not enjoy... but I'm a big fan of FO1&2 and I'm very interested in how people see it. I mean, if you're not, fair play, but it confounds me how that would make you "suspicious".
  2. Doesn't that reflect reality quite well?
  3. No proper modding support for FO3 for now, is the official word. So, uh.
  4. Btw, please do not post any information or links that might (a) help someone find the leaked FO3, or (b) pirate games in general. There's no problem with discussing this, but we can do so without posting specific information that others can just google. Anyway, my oft-quoted point about DRM isn't something I actually agree with. There's no sense in connecting this to the need for DRM. But the point is... they will.
  5. This fast, I suspect a developer's family member, or something like that. It does suck, because logic or not, it's going to give ammunition to pro-draconian DRM arguments.
  6. http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic...&highlight= Some people are going around posting streams of themselves playing. This is pretty scandalous, I think. Pre-release leaks? Sure. The day it goes gold? Not so common. It's going to hurt Bethesda a bit.
  7. Perhaps the child stumbled entirely into the fire, or jumped in after a toy or something, then what with the pain and all, couldn't control the obdy to get him/herself out. Well, that's the full extent to which I'm going to speculate about that. It's way too near bedtime.
  8. That would make all this economics mumbo-jumbo a lot easier for people like me, but I recognise that in today's economic system, it's encouraged, acceptable and widespread to borrow money and juggle assets. Simply following the very simple path of "earn money, spend cash, save up" seems to be inefficient to a criminal degree for many families (or at least, it's seen to be).
  9. It's amazing, but when I couldn't see the name/avatar at the top of that post...
  10. Now that, is depressing.
  11. They have Internet Forum LAN Parties with eacho ther.
  12. Heck, I'm always up for a bit of social networking. Not sure how productive it is to beg for food in the middle of the wasteland, though
  13. I'm curious how they propose to do this, but at the same time, I'm disappointed that they've chosen the 'storytelling' path - I think it's really, really hard to do that in the current MMO model without really changing a lot of core mechanics (and, incidentally, getting a lot more procedural processing capacity in the mix). I'd have been much more intrigued at attentions to economy, ability for player to build things/change worlds, etc. They keep talking about how they want players to have personal stories and they want that happening in instanced worlds without dynamic player-caused changes.... I mean, all that says to me is, they want big Bioware SP 'epic' stories transplanted onto an MMO medium, so that you essentially end up with a Diablo 2 with 'better' (and thicker) story. Is that really going to work, and is that really what's needed for MMOs? Square peg, round hole? I'd much rather see real-time events and schedules in the game world (e.g. 3pm EST, some players near town X see it being invaded, blah blah). Now that would be something I'd be keen to see - not a set single-player narrative based on player time, but a constantly developed, larger-scale narrative based on real time. I can see something like that taking on a much more long-term, 'historical' sort of narrative. You know, at game launch, you've got this big invvasion happening and players can intervene by choosing either side or whatever.... and the players throwing their weight determines who wins or loses, etc. Would be bloody hard to make, tho. And probably not what they're doing, as they say they mgiht have instancing.
  14. Neither healing systems are anything special... but for me, with healkits/medkits, you can have some enjoyable situations where, say, you know you've got this big room of enemies left, but only 2 medkits, can you do it? I've had some very fun challenges with that kind of situation (escaping military base, mutants waylay me, only 1 stimpack...) in RPGs. Autoheal *is* less hassle, of course. I think I'd just prefer the manual heal because I'm used to that hassle and don't mind it. I still haven't got around to getting a copy of the original Deus Ex.... one day, one day.
  15. Going through the same thought process about expectations ML - I would have thought so, too. I'm going to buy mine just after Christmas to take advantage, but when that time comes I'm going to take a game, and ask to install and see how it runs. I'm sick of buying computers that don't actually run games as they should 'on paper', even when the best of computer nerds are there to inform me.
  16. ....it's a sequel to an 'archaeological game'. Trigger-happy? That said, yeah, lets not bring FO3 into this. We all know how that will end.
  17. I did enjoy the two KOTORs, but they were both plagued by extremely easy played-for-you combat; I have no particular attachment to the setting, either. So I'm quite happy for it to drop out of my life (since, well, it's an MMO). I can sympathise with those who do have an attachment to the series, though.
  18. For me, its a game - to see how quick I can figure out it is Sand. Conversely, it's interesting that we call him 'Sand'.
  19. It's not like I was ever interested in the game, but I *am* fascinated that it's actually being made. Like, really.
  20. I'm on the market for a very similar kind of laptop you would want ML, and I"m getting the same kind of responses taks has given from across the board. With that budget (which is also mine) looking at 3 years is unrealistic - perhaps 2. Damn. So basically any of their cards could be buggered? That rules out quite a few options.
  21. taks: About as much as a regular run of NWN2OC, or a bit less.
  22. One day, I will find an internet name that I'm happy with. And maybe a real name, cause these ladies from Korea flew over today, saw me and went "oh, you're not a girl?".
  23. On paper, every word you say is right. But unfortunately, most methods the industry have chosen to increase that 'complexity' has simply spawned more complex and annoying problems for legit users as well as pirates. And while pirates know what they are getting into, legit users may not. I'm pretty sure at least one game tried this in the last 3-4 years. Can't have worked too well, I guess.
