  1. Hey, we haven't even banned Volourn or Hades. What's that tell you? Why did TOMBS leave, again?
  2. Yep. If it was a purely virtual robbery (I am higher level, will kick ur virtual arse if you don't pay), then it'd just be part of a game. The stuff about EULA is nonsense, there is a socially accepted value in virtual chars and goods, no matter what any non-legal document says.
  3. Hey, I'm sufficiently disgusted by Palin's politics and campaigning angle, and McCain & co's mindset behind choosing her in the first place... never mind the prospect of her presidency (though I really think it's unlikely McCain will just, y'know, die.)
  4. As I say, I might well have a different and more strongly defined opinion if I actually knew a thing or two about Muslim scripture and tenets. So far be it for me to disprove those that do. I still think there was a knee-jerk reaction from this thread's participants, and the Western gaming world in general. All things considered, maybe the Muslim complaints would turn out to be bollocks... but I doubt all things were considered with acute knowledge of Muslim convention in mind by most of the responses. I think because the demand made, the convention cited, was so foreign to us, and there was a tinge of 'freedom of expression' stuff thrown in, there was a natural outburst against it. Also, HK underestimates the destructive potential of AIM. Watch everyone pirate LBP!
  5. Clearly, the second shot shows some dynamic romance gameplay.
  6. Of course it's a form of property, there is a socially accepted value to these things. So of course it's theft, and of course it's punishable. Very basic stuff. That's a pretty high number of community hours, but I gather that it took into account physical / 'real-life' coercion and abuse as well.
  7. Not surprised, really. And the media has to take a big kick up the arse as a significant contributor to that.
  8. Geez, what's wrong with the graphics? It's an MMO. If it looks like 'crap', all the better, people like me can play it. Besides, I'm glad they didn't go down the bloom-bucket route.
  9. Some more info. I won't link the Kotaku one because it's totally biased on the side of Diabat
  10. But uh... as I keep saying, it's the usage of THEIR holy texts. I have no idea what the 'ownership rules' on things like that are or anything (more likely it's public domain), but sensibly speaking, it's their holy text, we're the one going in there and using it. With YOU eating pork or YOU being homosexual or whatever else, sure, I agree with you. But... yeah.
  11. No official word, but I'd say CGI.
  12. Just like, uh, the Cathedral incident? It's their cathedral and their holy text.
  13. Because WoW is dar awesurm. MC is probably trying to point out how several MMOs tried to beat WoW in their own game, but failed, due to various reasons. Games that tried to target the exact same audience. I wonder how long that will last, though.
  14. oic. Dear Rosbjerg, I don't really know how to tell you this, but your nostrils are insulting. I think I realised it that night in your closet and I saw you carve your initials into my father. I'm sure you're Mongolic enough to understand that extreme home makeover sucks. I'm returning our matching snoopy-bibs to you, but I'll keep your collection of butterflies as a memory. You should also know that I always will remember eggplant-fetishism. In pain, Tigranes
  15. Yes please, don't want to sign up to Livejournal of all things. With Love, Tigranes.
  16. There are two kinds of webcomics that have a lot of texts. The first kind have so much of substance to say, that they absolutely require that text. The second kind are made by red, slightly rusted buckets. Let's just say ol' Tim needs a repaint. Anyway, let's step back here. Uh, what the hell is exactly wrong with some Muslims believing that the presence of Qu'ran passages in secular music is an offense, if that is what is dictated by their holy texts? I mean, it's not like they're outlawing sex or killing homosexuals or destroying our chocolate reserves. What they want done with their holy text is their business, and if that seems strange or anally retentive to us, that's our problem, not theirs. I think we're going way too bigot here, implicitly. edit: 3000! I shall celebrate with a new line in my sig.
  17. Meh. You judge people on how they act. If KK acts like Hades, I'll treat him like Hades. If that means one person gets my hot sweaty forum-love twice in one day, so be it. Anyone on the forum played the game? It's out now, isn't it?
  18. Sounds like worth a try, then. Fable wasn't crap because its concept was crap, its just that it was half-baked and unpolished in the best sense of the word(s).
  19. Heh. Well I thought Fable was as boring as ditchwater, so I'm waiting to see soem comparisons andh ow it's different. The eurogamer review sounds veyr love/hate though.
  20. I wasn't aware that the inclusion of Qu'ran in music (or games as a multimedia text?) can be offensive, can someone confirm this? If so, probably for the best.
  21. Probably saying that the art style is too 'bland' and ordinary, and that some kind of art direction from a strong lead artist is recommended.
  22. Dude, you didn't have to look at that piece of paper. I will never forget those horrible folds, along with Codex rickrolls. Wait, no, Architect will probably take me seriously again. Nah, we never even touched him for quite a while.
  23. That's true, but it would be a big immersion breaker for me if I could paralyse people left and right, but nobody could paralyse me. I really hate losing control, but from what I remember, two things: -> It wasn't that long in the Witcher, so it fitted the Action RPG pace. It was just long enough for you to go OH CRAP, and think about what to do once you're moving again. -> It's good/fun because it's a very different type of challenge once you can be paralysed. Damage and other things generally doesn't intervene in your 'combat plan'; in many games you can basically draw a plan in your head, and execute it. You might take damage or it might not succeed 100%, but you can just keep doing that. The knowledge that you could be paralysed throws in a twist. I'd hate it too if it was really long, e.g. having you and Imoen paralysed early game in BG1 with its lengthier charm/hold spell durations. But from my memory.... wasn't it quite short? No?
