  1. Pussywillow Jackass Prickerbush c***fight
  2. I think I saw an unused PC head used once or twice in the whole game. But think about it- on replay, you might not want to have the head of someone already established as another character. I guess this was the rationale. Why aren't there any older heads? I don't mean elderly, but someone like Canderous. A lot of the heads seemed like kids' heads. There was only 3 tolerable white guy heads. The other ethnicities' male heads need reworking too- they didn't look right. And the black guys heads all looked like thugs. Get some Denzels in there. Or a couple that look like Samuel L or Billy D - the Jedi wih cornrows was cracking me up. Most of the chicks looked pretty good; I'd only add to them.
  3. Good god. I can't even say c0ckpit?? WTF is the world coming to
  4. Maria- I haven't played Beyond Good and Evil, so I wouldn't know. But I will clarify. mastaGAW- I'm all for adding variety to the game, and space combat is an excellent way to do that. However, the shooting that was in KOTOR was absolutely meaningless: It didn't affect the plot and it was always the same. There wasn't anything remotely tactical about combat. It really just got in the way. And just because someone (namely me) thinks that the gunnery in KOTOR sucked doesn't mean that more direct control action shouldn't be part of the game: it should, and it should be better! The swoop racing was a lot more fun, although it could have been better too. What I really think they should do is use a few separate game engines for the different aspects of the game. Use a racing game engine for swoop racing and an RTS or flight simulator engine for space combat. There are any number of directions to take this, none of which will be incorported, but I can dream, right? You could be in control of the Hawk, commanding it, telling your team which targets to shoot at, while flying missions (this could have been used to get to the Star Forge in KOTOR1 instead of watching a cutscene). You could fly different ships on different missions a la X-Wing or TIE Fighter, sitting in the c***pit. You could do BOTH (which I would LOVE) like in Battlezone (remember Battlezone?) Anything but the way it is now. Make it a feature of the game, not an afterthought.
  5. Ha! I loved that- the Sith rationalizing their acions by saying, "only the strong survive". Seems to me the lure to the dark side would be self evident, not some silly way to make killing innocents seem reasonable. Whatever happened to the "two Sith rule" anyway? Maybe this is where it originated: all these Sith killing each other makes for an order that can't sustain itself. Force choke was used once at least in KOTOR, on Tatooine, in the cantina, with a Czerka employee. There's a fundamental problem with this Dark side/ good side thing as it's been represented so far: In the movies, most of the struggling characters are driven to the dark side one way or another. Anakin loses his mother, Luke's sister is threatened, etc. We would think that even the Emperor was good at some distant time. No one is inherently evil; something made them that way. Either they want power or control or revenge. I think the story should be set up so that something awful happens to you and your character either resists the tempation for revenge or gives in.
  6. Okay, maybe the last match could be an all out weapons fest, but it's a bit unrealistic to call it dueling when one guy's got a blaster and the other guys got a load of grenades, swords, and guns.
  7. Yeah, and if you were a Dark sider, you didn't have the chance to go up against any really strong good siders, like Vandar or Vrook.
  8. Just two things: 1. Either get rid of the space combat altogether, or change it so that it follows the same combat system as the rest of the game. For instance, your ship would be your "character" and you'd be able to assign it targets and waypoints. I'm just brainstorming, but there could even be ship upgrades and different weapons. Maybe you'd be able to comunicate with other escort ships, etc. In other words, either eliminate the distraction that the space gunning was in the first KOTOR, or make it worthwhile by making it a strategy and role playing aspect of the game. 2. If there is to be a dueling ring in KOTOR2, I think it would make more sense if each opponent could only use one kind of weapon for a given duel. Like, it would be a blaster duel, or a sword duel, or a grenade duel, etc. to make it truly "dueling".
  9. I agree with the first post. I was frustrated not being able to use the droid in certain situations that, in reality, would be totally acceptable.
  10. Hades is obviously just being very cynical. But he/she's probably right; your main character will be Force sensitive, no if and or buts. That's what the game is meant to be, however. A chance to play a Jedi Knight in the Old Republic. Could Carth have realistically taken on Malak? That's the question we're asking here; otherwise the devs would have to completely rewrite the story (and I'm making an analogy to whatever story they have for K2). When the time comes for your PC to take on a major opponent trained in the Force, it's likely that only another Force user could take them down. Stealth was definitely underused in KOTOR, simply because it was more fun to hack and slash your way through enemies instead of tiptoe around them. I don't think your main character should be a thief (simply because of time constraints in developing), but I'd be cool to have another party member who is. It would not be outside the realm of Star Wars to have a thief character, and honestly if the devs had the time to mold the storyline for your PC to be a thief, then I'd be all for it. The more the merrier. But major things like this aren't going to change.
  11. It was easier for me to hate the sandpeople for being so damned touchy than Malak.
  12. Yeah, I guess it was an old movie. That link you posted looks so much better, and it looks like the enemies' armor is what they actually have on (if you understand my meaning).
  13. http://gamesdomain.yahoo.com/feature/22013 The character is plainly swinging at dead air (alright, he barely knicks the enemy with the tip of his lightsaber) after doing some huge move. It looks like he's meant to be closer to those robots. My video card doesn't enter into it; it's a movie, not a demo.
  14. I've seen some cool out-takes of KotOR on some gaming websites, but I need to ask about something. In the scenes where your character is using a lightsaber, he's seems like he's too far away from the enemy; his swings don't seem to be hitting the target (yet we hear him hitting it). Is this just because these are preliminary shots and things like that haven't been tweaked yet? If so, I'm sorry for asking.
  15. I think I saw that mod for Doom II a while back...
  16. Being one who doesn't like meddling with the lightsaber thing, let me explain myself (and anyone else who thinks as I do). This Star Wars thing, it's a legend. It has a certain mystique. We feel that coming up with other variations on something like a lightsaber dilutes the importance and symbolism conveyed by it. I don't personally get upset over people thinking up these wacky ideas about different technologies, fighting styles, types of weapons, etc. It's always good to have an open forum for things like this. Normally if we were establishing a new legend with new parameters I might be much more open minded to something like a laser whip or some of these other variants of real-world weapons. But we must be careful when dealing with an existing conceptual framework to balance new ideas with old ones. The more variants we add to the lightsaber class of weapons, the less special the original single bladed lightsaber becomes. I also think that the idea of simply thinking of a weapon, then imbuing it with the properties of "lightsaberness" is silly and unoriginal (no offense to the author of this thread!). Let's think of something more original, folks.
  17. Well, considering that I don't have $1500+ to drop on a PC for one game, I think I'll pass. On the other hand, if the game will run in 16x9 off of the PC, I might just consider it. More and more HDTVs have 15 pin VGA connections on them, and I see now some video cards have DVI and HDMI outputs. Well, even if it doesn't do HDTV, I'd love the game to be at least playable in 16x9, seeing how that's the aspect ratio that all the TVs are now, and will be for years.
  18. My god I forgot about this stuff. Devs: is KOTOR 2 Xbox going to be 720p or 1080i compatible? If so, 16x9 also? So many people are getting high definition TVs these days; it'd be a shame not to take advantage. At least KOTOR 1 had Dolby Digital encoding. I can only hope that we take the next step and add HDTV functionality. THX certification is probably unnecessary, though. But if any game is going to have it, this is the one.
  19. Drakron, you bring us to an even more important problem: too many Jedi. As I would like to believe, Force sensitivity is exceedingly rare. Where the heck are all these Dark Jedi coming from? I think it would be much more interesting if there were only a few Sith/Dark Jedi in the game that each had their distinct identity instead of these ninja guys. Of course there's an overabundance of double balded lightsabers- there's an overabundance of Dark Jedi using them! The enemies that have "grunt" status shouldn't be using the Force. Force sensitive opponents should be few and far between, and should be very difficult to defeat. I think this would help our problem considerably. I think it would also make the game more realistic and fun.
  20. Thanks! I know you guys are working hard to make it as cool as can be; somethings would probably take too long to change. Now at least we know, so we can drop the suggestions regarding these things.
  21. Just a few questions: (btw I saw some of the Jedi robes- sweet!) Will we be able to "see" what a charater has equipped (belts, gauntlets) like we can see their armor and headgear? Is armor going to restrict Force powers like in KOTOR I?
  22. Why would you store anything in the bins if you could carry everything around with you?
  23. Yeah, it is pretty sad when you're selling sacred Jedi weapons to Rodian street merchants for ~350 credits a pop.
  24. Well, while we're on the topic of Jedi clothing and with the picture posted above fueling this post: One thing I think they SHOULDN'T change is how hot the girls were in the game. Please don't change the body models for them!!! But, I would have liked to see a lot more variation in the armor styles, and just other clothes. Like, nothing you wore had short sleeves (except your underwear) and there were no vests (except the useless clothing). One of the things that appeals to me in Star Wars (hey, I'm a guy) is how stylistically sexy the girls look (at least in the concept art). There were a few armors that really showed this off in KOTOR; I think the same should hold true for its sequel.
  25. The double bladed lightsaber (cough*gimmick*coughahem) was used by Maul, yes. It made him unique. And there is something to be said about just anybody wielding these weapons; it dillutes character importance in the overall scheme of things. Maul was pretty much in the same shoes as Vader (DLotS), apprentice or not. Maybe he wasn't as powerful, but he killed Qui Gon and held off Obi Wan for some time. But Darth Maul was defeated, and as for what happened when Anakin tried using two lightsabers, well... Technologically, it's just two sabers fused at the hilt; it doesn't matter one way or another how it's built: you have a double sided lightsaber. End of story. Of course, we wouldn't want to restrict anybody from using any type of weapon. Why, because they can't hold it? Ridiculous. So if some Sith guy wants to brandish a double bladed lightsaber, so be it. However... He/she should be cutting their own limbs off trying to fight the enemy. Either that, or in trying not to hit themselves with the overabundance of exposed cutting surface they should become virtually worthless on the battlefield. It just occured to me that a Jedi could use this to his/her advantage quite easily; just by slightly manipulating an opponent's double bladed weapon they could kill them. But I won't go down that road. So, I'm all for making this ability to control a two bladed weapon or two separate weapons a much higher level feat. I also think that there should be three separate feats: Dueling, two weapon, and double bladed weapons.
