I live in the Portland, OR area. We have microbreweries coming out the hoo-hay here. I am quite spoiled in the sense that I have a selection of all sorts of fresh ale. Though I do not drink often, I enjoy a good wheat-ale on any occasion. I also like stout ale, such as Guinness and Porters, but I prefer them with food due to their strong taste, as Walsy so eloquently described, "It's a bit like drinking vodka laced chimney soot, while wrapped in the arms of a beautiful woman."
  2. Guys, this is gonna happen. Don't worry. BTW, I'm about to beat Alpha Protocol finally. Took me a while to find the time and sit down to play. I enjoyed it once I accepted the fact that it is not Splinter Cell. Another obstacle I had in beating this game was that I put it on Hard mode, and it is my first play through.
  3. My biggest disappointment with AP, and even the newer splinter cell, is that both diverged from what stealth would look like in reality. For example, you cannot pick up a dead body and stow it in a locker, as was possible with Metal Gear Solid 2 and to an extent in Splinter Cell 1. It is sad when I see a game come out with less capability than a game 8 years ago. Also, the lighting and visibility factor found in Splinter cell 1 is missing. If I am not visible in the dark, then show me I am not visible by using actual lighting on my in-game playable character. Once again, I find it sad that a game like Splinter Cell that came out for the obsolete technology of the Xbox is still better at stealth than modern stealth espionage games. For shame.
  4. To the original question, I am getting my Human Development major and can testify that attachment begins very young, and signs indicate there are aspects of attachment that can occur even inside the womb (e.g. Hearing a mother and father's voice and being able to recognize them outside of the womb after birth). There are some macabre studies done before ethical research practices were made into law which indicate that an untouched, unsocialized infant will have serious problems or simply, outright die at a young age as a result of a lack of attachment. I do not have my books with me now, but when I get home I will post the sources and studies so you can further research them. As for personal identity, this generally occurs later in infancy, but there are always exceptions. The important thing to remember about human development is that it's all a lot of generalizations based on mass observations, but there are so many exceptions, it is hard to make a broad, all-encompassing rule about how a human develops. In the example I gave earlier, a child who is unsocialized may survive and thrive due to an inherent resiliency that is not present in other children. There are always exceptions.
  5. Alright. Long story short. About the time this was going to start, the woman I loved and had dated for two years and was planning on marrying, dumped me. I got depressed and hated stuff and then I'm back. Now, sorry that my grief affected you guys, but the desire to make this happen is slowly growing in me each day as I regain my strength from that leech of a woman. The perspective I have gained from the loss has probably given me more ideas for story and characters, so really this delay has only assisted you all, even though now your camels are rotted and swords rusted. But don't worry, I know a necromancer and a blacksmith who will whip those things into shape.
  6. Okay, so this camel may have died, but trust me, one day, its butt is getting necromanced and we are going to do this thing.
  7. Pixie's games are the way we've played forum games in the past. I suspect that's why we didn't have another forum game earlier, since his seemed to fill that gap for the time. But to answer the question, I couldn't have said it better than mkreku, Obsidian board dating simulator game.
  8. Those people always seem to hijack the conversation IMO. I dislike when the ideas and opinions that could have been shared get usurped by unnecessarily polarized viewpoints, at war with one another, that cause people to become upset to the point of shutting themselves down. I don't care what your beliefs are, if there is a truth we can discuss and discover together, I doubt it will be found in conversations like those.
  9. I think that anyone can be "moral" in the sense of following an ethical code, as some of you have stated already. For me, being a Christian means I recognize that I am immoral, but that my savior was moral for me, and took the punishment for my immorality. In turn, I attempt to follow my savior's morality as a type of gratitude and reciprocation of love to him. As I look at the strange question posed about the "agnostic/atheist", I firmly believe that anyone, regardless of beliefs, can act in moral ways, as well as anyone else can, they just might follow those morals for different reasons than I do. In summary, I attempt to live a moral life to love God in return for his love of me, whereas an "agnostic/atheist" would have other reasons or motivations for living morally. To add to the conversation. I probably join "agnostic/atheist"'s in several reasons they may hold for acting morally at times. I think acting morally is often the wise thing to do for me, or an unspoken internal force in me, or what Kaftan referred to as decent behavior by your own free will, and I do not assume "agnostic/athest"s lack these same things I find to motivate me to acting morally (excepting of course my religious reasons). Finally, I completely agree with Kaftan's comment: "If the only thing keeping you from stealing your friends girlfriend, is a belief that you will be divinely punished if you do, you're a jerk." For me, I don't steal my friends girlfriend because by the cross I have been taught what love is, and how good it feels to both receive it and give it. I want others to experience that same good that I feel I have received. I don't want to inflict pain on my friend that I would not want to feel. These are all basic motivations that I am sure Kaftan would agree with, even if he didn't necessarily feel God himself taught him that "love" and "good". (But correct me if I'm wrong, buddy )
  10. Make that two feet. That's what she said.
  11. Hey team. I'm still alive and plan on going through this with everyone who is still up for it, but as school started and work got busier for me, things will take some more time. If you all can continue in your extreme patience, we will have an amazing PnP RPG going on when I can get to it. Thanks all, Blank

I'm such a huge Holland fan that I must have missed his biased commentary I was impressed by Uruguay's speed of play this World Cup. They definitely dominated the match until they were scored on. I enjoyed watching all their games, including the Suarez's red card goal keeping. Just hilarious that they ended up winning that game. The third place game will be very enjoyable to watch.
  13. Update: Deadly N. and Walsy's ability scores sent to them. To-do today: Sending ability scores to awesomeness, and I wanttehkotor3. To-do eventually: Send Proficiencies and spells (if applicable) to Worstusername, Deadly N., Walsy. awesomeness, and Iwanttehkotor3
  14. Update: Tigranes completely taken care of, Worstusername's ability scores sent in. To-do: Sending ability scores to Deadly N., Walsy, awesomeness, and I wanttehkotor3
  15. Sorry Unskilled. At this point I am understanding that 6 players is a very full load for me and it would be detrimental to the game to add more players. I really am disappointed to say that though. I'll be sure to contact you in the future if a game opens up like this one around here I'm hoping to send you all your stats today. I finally got a day off, so here goes.
  16. Wow, I just read all this and feel overwhelmed. RIP Mike. You're sorely missed already, even if your presence caused an occasional sore or two. My condolences to his friends and family.
  17. Update: Don't worry guys, we'll start eventually.
  18. My favorite part. One argument would say justice needs to be served, but at the same time, who wants to punish this guy for being so successful and clearly an exemplary pilot?
  19. Inventory is posted in another thread. Take a look. At level 3, you'll probably have about 250gp to invest in stuff. PM me with any questions. I'm still working on the other things. Thanks for the patience.
  20. Inventory Table 42: Standard Exchange rates Copper Piece (cp)= 1/10 sp, 1/100 gp Silver piece (sp)= 10cp, 1/10gp Gold piece (gp)=100 cp, 10sp Clothing- Belt 3 sp Boots
  21. The May 15th date was to get us going. I didn't want to put it back a couple months and have us never get to things. You all get grace, and I hope I do too. I'm working on getting you all your information for the character sheets. I liked all the backgrounds I received so far. They'll work great to lend to the next chapter of the story we develop together. I think I'll roll and have you all choose and place the rolled numbers in the attributes you desire. From there, you can choose, report back to me, and I'll send you the modifiers and information which will be based on your attributes. For example, your HIT POINTS will be affected by your chosen CONSTITUTION. I'll roll all this and have it to you this night. Just place and send back via PM your desired setup. I'm also planning on starting you at level three, and this will be reflected by the points you receive to sort. This will be a good start. I'll also post up the inventory options for you all to take a look at at this point, and when I get your information back to you, I'll allot the booty for you all to choose stuff with. The items took a while to type/convert to a format I could post here.
  22. Don't worry. Chickens will be available to purchase. Only 2 copper coins each!
  23. You're all welcome to post your appearance and basic information, but don't necessarily post all your background. That will be for your character to divulge or not divulge in-game. You know, keep the suspense and whatnot. I have successfully fixed my main computer. Sometimes its the easy methods that work best. The post of inventory will be up soon. Part of the delay is simply digitizing the massive amount of character creation information. I am working on getting a post to each of you one at a time. We'll do a little back and forth action in the PM department, then it will all be ready. This is hopefully the longest and most work of this type we'll have to do. Once the characters are figured out and we have all the stats for them, things should move faster from there. Thanks all for the patience and interest so far. One way or another, this is going to be interesting.
