  1. Stealth essentially makes no sense if stealthy movement is as quick as any other movement. But yes, the bug does have its benefits.
  2. You can do just fine with just about any combination, there is absolutely no need to calculate max damage ratios. Just go for whatever feels good.
  3. It certainly ain't killing the game, but after PoE and what I've played of Deadfire so far, it sure feels strange.
  4. I say, definitely go with it. I'm not, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be a bit disappointed with this. I'm knocking on level 19 now (missing something like 250 xp points). I've done about 85% of the main game (my guess, based on areas visited, quests done and hints about me nearing the end) but nothing, not even a tiny bit, of any of the three DLCs. So, even the main game would put me comfortably at max level. And then there are the three DLC that I haven't even started.
  5. Ok, thanks. Ha, what a strange patch it has been: I noticed two fairly glaring bugs almost instantly after loading my game (this, and the grimoire bug). Not exactly a bullseye from Obsidian, then, in terms of patching.
  6. As it says in the title. There is no difference in movement speed between normal and stealth mode. This could be intentional, but there was no mention of it in the patch notes. As far as I've been able to determine, stealth does still work, it's just that it doesn't slow you down. Any comments on this?
  7. Another thing introduced in 4.1 is that characters in stealth mode no longer move slower than in normal mode. I wonder if that's intentional.
  8. You know what? I didn't even think to check that. So, I went and checked all of Aloth's grimoires from his inventory, including the one he's got equipped at the moment. They're all visually bugged in exactly the same way, showing only two spells, listed as level V but actually being level I. I re-loaded my save, and they're all bugged. I loaded the oldest save I could find, from late December, and they're all visually bugged. I never saw this before today. This would rather strongly point towards the patch 4.1 as the culprit, wouldn't it?
  9. So I went into a cave, had a fairly difficult encounter and managed to beat everybody. One of the enemies, Bipara, left behind a grimoire. It's always interesting to check into these. But this time I'm confounded. When I open the grimoire, what is see is the attached image. Has to be a bug, surely? Is this what everybody else gets when they find this grimoire?
  10. Do you have any evidence for this? Why would anyone do that? On the face of it, this sounds like another instance of "Anyone can say anything and very often does", although I could, of course, be wrong.
  11. All roads lead to a single thread discussing turn-based combat, as they've been saying since antiquity.
  12. It's his first post, too, and most definitely worth ignoring. Let's move on.
  13. Could Rekke be referring to the fact that he has changed quite a bit as a person and is no longer the one found in the wreckage? For instance, the author J. D. Salinger referred to his younger self as "that kid". Note: this is just a thought. I have not played FS yet and only read this topic because it has Rekke in it; I find Rekke interesting.
  14. Is anyone else bothered about the fact that you can get the "Orlan game" event repeatedly? I think I've had it four times, now. Bit of a disappointment, that. And random events both on land and at sea could use a serious expansion. It's not going to happen, though.
  15. Stuff coming from "some member" on a forum and then "the same guy" sounds incredibly dodgy right from the start.
  16. Wow. Very interesting, thank you. That would explain some of it, yes. But there is clearly something "stuck" in the game, and it seems to be connected to various quests and/or locations. For instance, I just visited Fort Deadlight. Immediately upon arriving, every single member of my group wanted to further their personal story with me. They started a conversation, one after the other, right after one another, before I could do anything else. That had to be a mistake -- otherwise these conversations would surely have taken place one at a time, at intervals. I felt the sudden reappearance of the skulls was a similar phenomenon. They hadn't been checked for ages, then something triggered a check, and appropriate skulls appeared. Ditto the discussions: suddenly the game realised that they had been ignored for some time.
  17. Yeah, there are still bugs, and some of them are indeed serious. Super loud drake sound is extremely annoying, but it is merely cosmetic. However, the fact that the Forgotton Sanctum doesn't start on my game is not cosmetic. Nor is the bug that someone just recently reported here: no Rekke in the flotsam.
  18. Anyone can say anything and very often does. Since Obsidian describes The Forgotten Sanctum as "the final story to be told in the Deadfire Archipelago", a fourth DLC doesn't sound likely.
  19. Thanks. The interesting thing regarding #1 is indeed the fact that moving the character even a little bit seems to solve the problem right away.
  20. Wow! Strange. In the beginning, when I had some AI on, he always started with spells. (I haven't used the AI for ages, I very much prefer doing everything myself. But I don't think that has much to do with this bug.)
  21. Now that is one seriously annoying bug! You probably have an autosave from (somewhere) before you tried to recruit him. What happens if you just try it again? I'm personally struggling with the "Forgotten Sanctum installed but not happening" bug...
  22. Ok, so the game is working quite well in general, but I'm beginning to suspect there are perhaps some memory leaks somewhere, because a certain class of minor bugs seem to be piling up. 1) In battle, spellcasting is abandoned repeatedly. Like, I get "Aloth abandoned casting Gaze of the Adragan" twenty times in a second, just endlessly. When I move Aloth a little bit and try to cast the spell again, it almost always works. 2) In battle, I get mysterious and impossible messages. Like, "CHARNAME abandoned defensive stance" and stuff like that. The thing with this message is that my main character is a monk who doesn't have any fighter stance abilities, and she doesn't get them from items, either. I had absolutely none of this before approximately level 13 or 14, and I'm now at 18 and they seem to come more and more often. I began the game on 4.0, and I don't think it has been patched since then (could be wrong here). It looks like memory leaks or something. I did a brief search via Google, and at least bug #1 is something that seems to be happening to others as well. What about you people here?
