Now that you mention it, with the beginning of the game being so desolate, it really sets the tone for the whole game. The theme of the game is a really dark one, as at least one of the developers has said (in one of the video interviews on Gamespot.com). Peragus does its job very well, IMO. A question for someone who's played KOTORI, does Taris establish the game's theme with it as the opening planet, or is it more of a get-used-to-the-feel place?
-
I've found that Peragus doesn't stop me from playing KOTORII more than once. I've done it so many times I could probably do it in my sleep. I've become quite good at getting through Peragus pretty quickly each time, by only doing the necessary things for experience. Having never played KOTORI, I can't compare it to Taris or Endar Spire or whatever, but I plan on borrowing KOTORI from a friend at some point.

guards in the refugee sector

You can't kill them after that by talking to them, but if you threaten Saquesh concerning Adana (like I posted earlier) they become hostile toward you and you can kill them. -
Its simply because you had more influence with Visas. Got to be careful there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is correct. Whenever I play a male character, I always try and make the Handmaiden a Jedi first, then once that's done, talk to Visas and max out my influence with her. Always Visas last, to avoid Handmaiden hating me. Also, I try and not have Visas and Handmaiden in my party simultaneously. I think that sparks the argument upon returning to the Ebon Hawk which starts with Visas saying something like "That is how flesh and blood fights".
-
Just spar with her twice more then, and you should gain the Jedification dialog options. When you get up to there, look for the Dark Side ones. They're usually at the bottom, and should be obvious in nature. Can't remember them off by heart; I haven't played a DS character in a while.
-
Yes, she can, but you may need to get a small amount of lightside points from influence gains for her first. I'm not sure. I've been through two Dark Side games where I've tried to make her a Dark Jedi. The first time through I didn't have to worry about it, and just sparred with her three times and made her a Dark Jedi. The second time it seemed I needed more influence, which was odd. Just take one or two chances to gain influence with her before you begin training her and there should be no problems.

When you talk to the squid, there is a persuasion/intimidation line (if you don't let the refugees...) or something like that. And when you say that, he attacks you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Correct. First, locate Adana and do whatever, either leave her there or get her to leave. Then go speak to Saquesh and say you want to talk about Adana, then there's an [intimidate] line. Follow that (it always fails as far as I know) and he attacks you. Everyone he controls goes hostile with you, so just go on a Gamorrean-killing rampage and eventually you'll get back to the entrance and can kill the two door guards. And there's no DS points for this either, and it also finishes the Exchange half of the Refugee Woes quest. -
Well, yes, but you don't return to the top of the polar mesa, which is where that screenshot is from.
-
The picture on the back of the box that he's referring to is a picture of the Exile with a double-bladed silver lightsaber (not 100% sure about the colour, might be cyan) using Disable Droid on one of the HK-50s at the polar mesa. I'm assuming the pictures on the back are from when the game was a beta, considering the one down the bottom is a female with the Handmaiden in her party. So no, without cheating, you can't have a lightsaber at that point (or without certain mods, like the Holowan Plugin). You build your lightsaber when you reach your first planet.

I like getting technical about stuff.

the corona is several million degrees... very hot stuff. taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The core is supposedly 15,000,000 degrees. Even hotter. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow, that's like really hawt. I mean, compare that to sticking your hand into the fireplace. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, there are a couple of things to consider here: 1) The core is several million kilometres from the surface of the sun, so you wouldn't be able to get there in the first place. 2) Even if you could, you would probably vaporise due to the extreme heat before you felt anything. You would simply cease to exist. So sticking your hand into a fireplace would probably be less pleasant. Good point. Geddit? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Ummm...mentor and "force chain" does have gameplay uses.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Blast, beat me to it. For those of you that don't remember, whatever positive or negative effects (poison, force speed, etc.) are inflicted on Kreia affect the PC as well, and vice versa. That's an ingame effect of Force Bond. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, actually, that's not what Force Bond does. Force Bond doesn't cause dexterity reduction due to sonic, or poison to both people. What it does is, when either Kreia or the exile uses a Force buff power (ie: speed, Battle Meditation), the other gets those effects. It's like the other person used the same Force power at the same time.

No love for yellow? I've always thought yellow is one of the cooler lightsaber colours, and completely unused in the movies (and a lot of the EU; only yellow-wielder I've heard of is Ulic Qel-Droma). My first guy had a double-bladed yellow blade, I thought it was pretty darn cool.

60 Hours of Hopeless Romancing
DoubleX replied to subnubilus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'd say that the gravity of a planet attempting to collapse in on itself would probably cause something resembling Malachor V in KOTORII. Of course, I have no idea of the physics of it so I may be wrong. The Storm Beasts probably came about after the fact, and were probably put in place by Kreia or Nihilus to protect the Trayus Academy from those who might mistakenly (or purposefully) land on Malachor. The things use Force Scream, so I think they are infused with the Force to a degree, hence my suspicion about them being created by one of the three Sith Lords. -

Bao-Dur never actually explains what the Mass Shadow Generator was. No-one does. However, I am assuming from snippets of conversation with people ("...all those people crushed by the planets gravity..." [Zez-Kai Ell IIRC]) that it used Malachor's gravity well on the planet and everything on it, crushing it down on itself. That was probably what killed everyone on the planet. Of course, that's all conjecture, but no-one ever explains what it is so I'm sticking with that story until proven otherwise. -
It's the recording of Coorta when you're at the big ventilation shaft place. The one where you turn off the fuel containment fields (and can technologically manipulate the droids to attack each other or turn off entirely).

LOL Seems like the best evil accent is from England. Also Australia is now added to the list thanks to the newer Star War movies and Jango Fett. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He was not an Aussie, that was a New Zealander! How you foreigners get us mixed up so easily, I don't know. *Force Lightning* -
Of course not. I love babies. They're so adorable. This little girl is no exception.

I did as I was asked.
-
Holy cow, you did that in an hour? That's nuts. That's an awesome picture, let alone for a one hour throw-together.
-
Adorable baby Ender! Congratulations and much luck to you. And my birthday beats you all. American Independence Day (and I'm not even American ). Birthdays are less than spectacular, but I still win.

Mission, Zaalbar, Jolee and Juhani don't make appearances in KOTORII, but you can find Jolee's Robes, which gives a Charisma bonus and is limited to Neutral characters. Revan you decide what alignment and gender, but other than that you find out he/she went off into the Unknown Regions, and that's it. Bastilla makes appearances in a message in T3 (if Revan is set to male), a holocron on Korriban (if Revan is set to Dark Side) and near the end of the game (if Revan is set to light side male). Carth makes appearances as a Republic general if Revan is light side, but if Revan is dark side he still appears in a message in T3 if Revan is female. He also appears at the same time as Bastilla near the end of the game if Revan is light side. Canderous is the new Mandalore in KOTORII, and he ends up joining your party after completion of one of the planets.

As for the random lightsaber, if you have already gotten all the items for it and have Bao-Dur craft one for you, you can get another one from Visas. (By the way, it is random) I reloaded 1-2 times and got another single lightsaber. (Except to have to fight Visas twice) The one time where you might probably get a short lightsaber is the one where Dhagon Gent on Onderon gives you an item after bailing him out. Another area you can search for lightsabers is in the sith tomb on Korriban. (Ludo Kresh's sarcophagus) Lonna Vash's corpse yields another lightsaber (Random). Just reload after saving your game before trying to see what lightsaber you get. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just to add on (and for random trivia), you can get lightsabers (or pieces thereof) in a lot of places. You get: - Ebon Hawk: Defeat Visas - Dantooine: Save/kill Jorran (not sure about the kill part) - Dantooine: Change the salvager's will and talk to Zherron - Dantooine: End of Battle of Khoonda from Vrook dead or alive - Dxun: Random Cannok - Dxun: Blow up the cache for Mandalore and tell him you did so - Onderon: Free Dhagon Ghent - Nar Shaddaa: Complete Lootra/Aaida quest - Nar Shaddaa: Vogga's storeroom thingo in Vogga's Hoard - Korriban: Vash's corpse - Tomb of Ludo Kressh: Defeat Revan vision - Tomb of Freedon Nadd: Sith Master yields a Double-Bladed Red Lightsaber - Tomb of Freedon Nadd: Freedon Nadd's Short Lightsaber from his corpse at the back of the final room - Onderon Palace: Storeroom that requires repaired key sequence (66-45-39) - Trayus Academy: First Elite Sith Assassin yields a Short Viridian Lightsaber - Trayus Academy: Defeat Darth Sion - Trayus Academy: Various lightsaber-wielders may drop lightsabers (not sure) Those are all the ones I can remember off the top of my head, there may be more. If you save before the delivery point (or checking the corpse, depending on the place), you may get different kinds and colours of lightsaber. I've found that I mostly get yellow, purple and sometimes green lightsabers the majority of the time. I have never received a blue or a silver lightsaber, but I've gotten the rare colours (cyan and bronze) a couple of times. That's because the stuff they sell is determined upon entering that area for the first time. So if you want to use the save-reload method on merchants and stuff, save before entering their area and try again if you get stuff you don't want.

What if I don't come back to save Chodo from mercs
DoubleX replied to Darth Kavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That's the same deal with any situations where more than one person can gain influence. What I've found is that whoever is physically closer to you is the one who gains the influence from the act. For example, one game I saved the Mandalorian from the hill with Bao-Dur and the Disciple in my party and Bao-Dur gained influence. Then the game crashed so I had to do it again, except Disciple gained influence the second time around, and he was physically closer than Bao-Dur at the time.
