Some time in the future I plan on building a server. I am debating on what software to use, cost being an issue. I am debating between Windows 2000 server edition and Windows 2003 server edition. Win2000 I can find cheap be it used or new. The question is, is it still a decent OS to use now. Security of course is something important. The main use of this server is to host my websites on it and a place to download files. I may have to install MySQL on it in case I decide to run a message board on it. Is Win2000 still a valid OS to use or will I have to go for Win2003?

I have a plain old DVD-ROM that was made before the writable versions existed. I made a copy of my files and put them on a DVD-R, which my DVD-ROM read fine.

I take it only a DVD+RW drive can read DVD+RW disks? I burned some files on to a disk from my parents computer since they happen to have a DVD burner. I put the disk in my computer and my computer freaks out by going super slow and not being able to read the disk. My DVD ROM happens to be a DVD/CD-RW drive.

I was browsing some sites that offer data recovery. Quite expensive, ranging from $159 - $500.

Baldur's Gate 1. I have been exploring the wilderness areas building up EXPs. No rush.

Fighting the forest "dragon" was a hard fight in DSotSC.

Is there any way to repair a hard drive or take it some where to get it fixed? A hard drive from my old computer will not boot up and at times the hard drive is not even recognized at start up. It makes a clicking noise like there is something broken inside, preventing it from reading the disks. I knew this hard drive was going to go, I made up back ups on some of my important files but not all, before it finally crashed. I hate to lose that information that I can't access.
