the systems to follow
trashmyego replied to theAxinar's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
I would highly doubt this. GOG doesn't do F2P releases, which is something this is at its base. They could just release the $25 season pass content as a full game. Just a thought. Why reprogram the entire thing? The in-app purchases and ingrained always online pieces also go against GOG's publishing standards. -

That, and what's the rough timeframe for online or LAN multiplayer? Looking forward to playing it with my friends Well, it's releasing in a manner where pass and play is built into it. Online multiplayer information is supposed to be around the corner after release. I'm not sure LAN is something to keep your hopes up for, depending on how things will be ran on their servers and with its built in hot seat play. -
If the rumor is true, it really makes https://twitter.com/Obsidian/status/723217423311233025/photo/1 look dumb and kind of bad. I'll defend any delay of a launch, but communicate for ****'s sake. Don't leave everyone wondering if a report is properly sourced and don't send a conflicting message like that tweet if this is the case.

Please keep in mind that if you were to get everything physically, it would be well over 100 dollars or euros or what have you.I'm very well aware of that, since I've already paid it. Mind you, it was almost €200 (that's well over $200) here in Finland, which I understand what with shipping and everything. But it should be different with digital content. Pricing is rarely set to make higher profits in different markets. Depending on the additional taxes and charges in each separate market, all they're trying to do is get consistent revenue from each sale.

You're not their boss. It's an interesting reaction, to take the manner in which you're treated in your own workplace and assume it's applicable, as a complete stranger, towards people who owe you nothing. You can refer to me as self-righteous, but that wasn't my intention at all - more of a playful scolding, if you know what I mean? -

Your arm-chairing is adorable! Such a pessimistic cloud hangs over you, and not even an objective one. Just a blanket of alienation and assumptions that paint you in a pretty ugly, yet oddly cute, light. You may want to see a doctor if you're actually hurt by the fluidity of release dates or the existence of bugs in the programs you use, that sounds like an interesting new disorder and it might need to be studied clinically for future generations! I'll never understand the position of gamers who suppose to understand the inner workings of development and universally apply it. Especially when those suppositions always revolve around deception and incompetence, something that apparently exists within every single development process! It couldn't just be an symptom of programming, no! It's the evil of the creators, withholding from the users and doing everything in their power to inconvenience the innocent little gamer underclass. All they want is content, but all they'll ever be is victim to tyranny! The vanity is staggering, and really depressing. -
The additional characters will be part of the season pass. That post was a response to trashcondor about why it was considered a season pass, specifying what wont be available at release. It wasn't all that well written, my bad. I was trying to shed light into the release structure compared to how the physical versions have been released.

The adventure decks. They're not all being released. It's just the free to play 3-part adventure with two characters that everyone gets, the first adventure deck, and the rest of the characters. That's what's coming with release. There are still five more adventure decks that'll be released over the next few months. I'm not sure about the release schedule or if one has been pinned down. For the physical. The base set came with seven characters, the three part intro adventure, and the first adventure deck for Rise of the Runelords. The character add-on deck was also released along side the base set. Since this is technically free to play, they separated the intro adventure and two of the characters as the base thing everyone gets. Everything else will be available for purchase, either separately or through the season pass. The season pass will get you the five remaining adventure decks which make up the Rise of the Runelords adventure path.

Do you mean the season pass? I believe it includes all six adventure decks that make up Rise of the Runelords and all of the characters, including character add-on deck that brings the total up to eleven and maybe additional cards? The physical version's character add-on deck includes extra base items, more class specific items, and extra monsters. This is to allow for additional players, but also to add some more variety to things in the early adventures. I'm not sure how they're handling this and splitting things up, since you can buy the characters individually. Those cards might just automatically be part of the base set now, since they're there to support the additional classes and it would be weird if they weren't there.

Things to come

I'm curious about the additional character decks at class decks as well. I'm hoping some of them will be separate from their respective base sets (well the class sets maybe? with the alternative designs) so I can spend the in game currency on something. Anyway, I'm super excited about everything the more I hear about it. Sounds like a good system is in place. Definitely will be buying the full sets. And hope we'll see Shackles and Wrath down the road, it's one of my favorite card games of all time and I'm excited to no longer have to shuffle and deal with set-up/break-down for each session :D (I'll still continue to buy the physical releases, it's a system I'll never get tired of, nor one I ever think I'll regret supporting.) -

Or just be patient. Engage with any one of the endless options for entertainment in the meantime. And trust the people who do this for a living when a delay like this pops up? -

If you haven't. Check the pinned post at the top of the forum. The game was delayed until April 26th to finish some polish in response to the closed beta. -
Also, getting into what actually makes an RPG a role-playing game - you need prose, you need telling. When you can't have a reactive GM there, handling all of your choices and actions, you still need to facilitate that interaction within the mind of the player. So you do it with text, just like any GM would do with explanation and detail. There's so much there because the player can't just ask for specific detail pertaining to their interests or curiosity. Getting into the detail of things is not a realistic goal from the 'show, don't tell' perspective, well without completely detracting from the game play mechanics and consistency, let alone budget. Pillars shows plenty with it's beautifully crafted environments - you're selling it short. This is what Pillars was promised to be, this is what got it funded. I think you just want a different game. Which is a strange expectation to have for the sequel.

I have a feeling we'll get both Tyranny and hopefully a World of Darkness game announced before any major news on Pillars of Eternity 2. There's also the Pathfinder IP, and whether they're doing anything substantial with that outside of the Adventure Card Game - which should be great. Their partnership with Paradox might be the best thing ever. These are good reasons to wait. And it'll provide them with ample time to give the sequel pre-production and not rush/force anything.

Internet connection required?

Please, for the love of god, don't have automatic Google Play integration that you can't turn off. Most obnoxious crap in the world. -
Has there been any more word on the 1.05 beta since the week of the 20th passed? Haven't seen any update on it.
