  1. Decent is all I'm hoping for, really.
  2. *hyperbole detected* Not saying you have to think the film was good, but c'mon. The end credits were what? Too small? Too fast? Not long enough? And they didn't to my memory, have a scene start in the day, go to night and end in the day with about 10 minutes of in-movie time having passed. So its got that over, say, an Ed Wood film. I don't count end credits.
  3. One of the best at being terrible. HEYOO. Seriously though, there was not a single element in that movie that was good. Not one single thing was even halfway decent. No hyperbole. People told me at least Batman was good, but even that's not true. His fight scenes made me laugh out loud at how stupid they were.
  4. Superunknown is one of the best rock albums ever made. One "grunge" band that stuck with me is Screaming Trees. Although really only referred to as grunge because it was the area and time.
  5. Hey, you can't blame me for forgetting the Soldier exists. The point remains, there are 21 heroes in Overwatch right now and the game is designed to be able to add an infinite number of new heroes. These characters have much less space at their disposal. You're right, though. Nobody cares about the storytelling in Overwatch - it's so incredibly unimportant to the game itself that it's only told outside the game. You know why you think it's terrible storytelling? Because they're not storytelling at all and as such aren't trying to be good storytelling, and you shouldn't even consider it storytelling because that is a pointless endeavour. You can't say "gameplay aside" when talking about Overwatch's characters. Here's why: You know why Reaper screams "DIE DIE DIE" in an over the top way? It's because nobody can misunderstand that this is the soundbyte that lets you know the edgy tryhard character whose theme is literally 'death' is using his dangerous ultimate. Reaper doesn't reap your soul as an ability because his theme is the grim reaper, he has that theme because he has the ability to reap you and that's the way to let you know that. Characters on your team have different voice bytes when they ult to let you know it's your team ulting so you don't run away or attack at the wrong moment. There's only so much you can do with a human voice, so the characters have outrageous and exaggerated awful accents so you can tell them apart instantly while they give you in-game information. Roadhog laughs when he kills someone to let you know Roadhog is out there wrecking ****, go help him. Tracer looks, talks and runs like an annoying little gnat because that's the purpose she has in game. This is why everything is a super simple archetype - because they're feeding you information that needs to be instantly understandable about 21+ characters. There is no storytelling, there is only a small layer of archetype and design to hide gameplay manipulation and prompts.
  6. That's because Batman vs Superman's Tomatometer is far too high. That movie was one of the worst I've ever seen. It was worse than the last season of Arrow.
  7. Actually, Blizzard has writers. StarCraft II didn't become absolute **** until Brian Kindregan joined the team. Anyway, if you think Overwatch is being serious business about stuff I dunno what to tell you. Nothing about it seems to be taking itself seriously to me.
  8. I know how you feel, Calax. I feel like if I did 10% of the things he did I'd be exhausted.
  9. Writing can help and amplify ANY product, in my humble opinion. TF2 itself is actually a pretty good example of that. I like playing the game, getting a domination on a Sniper and then hearing Scout's harsh trash talk like this (something the Sniper will hear too) cause it adds to the ambience. I like putting on a hat and being treated to unique dialog like this or this cause it actually adds to my enjoyment of the game just to hear all the stupid voicelines they'll say. They also periodically release TF2 comics for no reason other than just for fun, and they can actually be pretty entertaining to read. It's polish, basically. It amplifies the experience and makes it more entertaining. I dominate a Heavy, Scout says some douchebag line like he always does, the domination feels all the sweeter. I play Overwatch and Tracer will not SHUT THE **** UP about how ****ney (edit: that's supposed to say cawkney, like the british accent dialect thingy) she is or Soldier 76 has to deliver a line about what a hardened badass soldier he is every time he respawns, and it takes me out of the experience as I groan at the bad writing. That game has just been a grim reminder to what I already know: writing is undervalued in the gaming industry, which is painful to watch because I'm one of the few that does care, and as a result of few people caring, I have to play games where characters unironically scream "DIE DIE DIE" while they eat souls and read their latest poem about darkness and how their parents JUST DUN UNDERSTAND. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TropesAreTools Overwatch is a superhero fantasy. Larger than life, super exaggerated archetypes was kinda the thing they're going for. For example, Reaper is grimdark and stupid because he's a Spawn expy and Spawn is grimdark and stupid. There's also 21 of them, and there are going to be more. They don't have space for depth, especially in a game this fast. I don't think TF2 characters have better writing myself at all, but they do have more writing (specifically, one comedian on staff that tells a bunch of jokes), because they have significantly more space to themselves on account of there being 8 in a slower paced game, and they kind of have to because they don't distinguish themselves enough visually. They're just dudes. Soldier dude in team color, larger soldier dude in team color, soldier dude in team color with a gasmask. They don't exemplify archetypes quite as much, so personality is literally all the designers had to go on. Not going to defend the horrible voice acting though. Fix that ****, Blizz.
  10. Currently it's just a multiplayer shooter. I do not know if there's plans for that to change. Just wanted to give you props for picking a healer. I tend to be the team tank myself, usually Roadhog or Reinhard.
  11. It needed a reset because every single payoff in that finale was completely unsatisfactory.
  12. Me too. It's something I've noticed since they've decided to embrace more cinematic storytelling - they are absolutely terrible at telling a story as it happens. But reading background information on their websites, in their books, in the manuals... they're still fantastic at world building.
  13. Welcome to the game industry. Enjoy your average-of-4-years-industry-wide stay. No isms involved when everyone is treated like hot excrement.
  14. Uwe Boll did approach Blizzard but they told him he could stick it up his arse.
  15. Truer words were never spoken!
  16. Blizzard fanboys are whining? That's weird, all I'm seeing on MMO-Champion is "lol I told you so".
  17. I hate it when Torbjorn has Play of the Game in Overwatch. It's invariably your own idiotic team throwing themselves pointlessly at a turret.
  18. I don't have any alts here, which is actually out of character for me because on every other forum I've ever been a regular I also owned an account pretending to be Bruce Campbell.
  19. Didn't see any reports filing in so it can't have been that bad.
  20. Wait, one last thing! Who are you again?
  21. Symmetra is the only one I've seen so far that's no real use at all. Not sure why Reinhard is supposed to be dangerous to Bastion? You cut through his shield like it's made of plastic. Widowmaker is a different story. I think she needs a stronger counter. Currently debating whether to play more Overwatch, or Legion Beta. First world problems - can't decide which game I like more!
  22. Roadhog is my jam. But yeah, pugs are awful right now. People don't seem to realize yet that if you can't break through their comp, you should probably switch into a hero that can. They just want to stick with their waifu character.
  23. Yeah, I would have preferred I feel like it suddenly became a completely different movie.
  24. That trailer wasn't as bad as the last one. That's all I got.
  25. Correlating with a similar decline in quality. I theorize that in this instance correlation does indeed imply causation.
