  1. Why? That board is about the Aliens game Obsidian is developing, which has very little to do with this Aliens vs Predator movie, aside from the fact it has aliens in it.
  2. How is entertainment not art? I'm pretty sure that a movie that sets out to entertain and does so is more artful than a horrible movie made for "the right reasons" as one might say.
  3. A compelling arguement that eventually boils down to "everything sucks". Fine, I'll be a communist.
  4. Predator 2 is definately underrated.
  5. Me too ...although I find Natalie Portman more annoying actually. Atleast Jar-jar wasnt the worst actress ever in the history of mankind As sad as it is to say, Jar Jar was the most developed character in Star Wars Episode 1.
  6. The thing is though, what is art? Ebert has grown arrogant indeed if he thinks he can answer that question.
  7. It looks like a slasher. I suppose that makes it better than Alien 3, Alien Ressurection and Alien vs Predator. I disagree that it will easily be better than Predator 2 because of nostalgia! Predator 2 was awesome, and is extremely quotable.
  8. Huh. I'm Darth Vader. Didn't see that coming. I do breathe out of my mouth due to almost always having a cold, though.
  9. You're funny. Not like "ha ha" funny, though. More like... peculiar.
  10. Now, dismissing *all* manga is just stupid. However, dismissing *most* manga is easy and probably the right thing to do. The thing that bothers me most about manga is that every single one I've ever read had atrocious dialogue. It's like these mangakas are just filling up their quota pages with talking heads and run out of meaningful dialogue. Not only does this ruin the quality, but it also makes the stories drag and turn into tangents they shouldn't just because of some dialogue flub. Also, Japanese humor is an "acquired taste" to say the least. It's too bad really, because I really dig the japanese manga art-style.
  11. Whenever I start that game I generally speak along with all his dialogue, that's how memorable it is.
  12. Nifty, but I will never forgive lego for forcing me to build my own Jurassic Park line.
  13. Except for glitches, which are roughly equatable to, for example, seeing the boom mic in the screen.
  14. Ebert may say "autorial control", but a movie's success is still the way the audience chooses (whether consciously or subconsciously) to interpret it. It's still all about choice. But how are game designers not in control of their game?
  15. So, basically, you got screwed over by a cheater, and because of that you think you have the right to cheat? Your logic is flawed. Honestly though, anyone who calls someone a "n00b" is obviously everything a gamer should not be.
  16. At least do it on some private, fake server for ****s sake. Cheating online is never good fun.
  17. Their own claim is that "they want to make a game that brings something new to the table but is still true to the spirit of starcraft". However, all of the genuinely "new" stuff is being scourged. I don't know about a list of changes, but I suppose many can be found at sclegacy.com. Also, I wouldn't make quite the big deal of it if it was about the game *I* wanted them to make. After all, I thought the Soul Hunter was a crap unit, and it was taken out. It was, however, taken out because the fans hated it; not because they wanted to take it out. They were obviously very enthusiastic about the unit. That's a pretty stupid reason to get rid of something you like.
  18. Game mechanics have already been changed, and units have been taken out and replaced with apparently "classic" StarCraft units because everyone was bitching to bring them back. Any unit that gets added is decreed "unbalanced" and eventually nerfed into infinity, and they're not even at beta testing. For example, the Mothership unit that was shown in the original gameplay demo was a unit that could change the entire game; now it's been altered and become just like any other air unit, albeit oversized. Because the Reaver and the Collusus shared one possibility in combat, the "fans" cried for the removal of the out-of-date Reaver, even though both units have completely different purposes (the only similarity is that they can both be used to effectively counter infantry, but it's not eithers purpose).
  19. Oh man, I have suddenly decided that a game design company should not listen to their community. I mean, this is a fairly smart community so Obsidian might actually find some good feedback, but most game companies are not so lucky. Blizzard has neutered or deleted all of the interesting elements they added to their upcoming game StarCraft II because "they wanted to listen to their community". They don't seem to realize however that their community consists out of Battle.net and BlizzForums. They're full of whiners and idiots, and hardcore StarCraft players who will hate the game if it's not the exact same as it's predecessor. If I see one more signature claiming "The [insert unit] should be removed! Add this to your signature if you agree!" I'm going to kill someone. They really need to get back to making the game they want to make.
  20. I think the fan favorite is Ryan Reynolds. Which I happen to agree with. Honestly, the first person in my mind was Ryan Reynolds also (he and Jessica Biel's ass made the otherwise horrible Blade: Trinity worth watching) but Gary Busey is actually also a pretty good choice.
  21. I theorize that Low G Man might be the hardest game ever. I theorize this because after countless months of trying to beat this NES game, I finally buckled and pulled out the Game Genie just so I could FINISH THE DAMN GAME. Lo and behold, I STILL couldn't finish it.
