There's an appeals process. You can counter claim. It just rarely works.

Well, that's what I mean. Since there's no YouTube function to verify it, why would they bother?
-
Actually I don't think it is. I think it's simply a matter of "check this box to monetize your youtube." I'd be very, very surprised if even a slice of most of the people that did Let's Plays (i.e. NOT people like Total Biscuit) actively went out to get permission for a lot of them. You're correct, many people don't because there isn't a YouTube function to verify it. It's required by YouTube regulations, however.
-
That's already required for monetizing a Let's Play.

Well, we tried not procreating as much for a bit here in Holland, now we're paying through our nose in pensions because there are more old people than young people. So I guess the only solution is global genocide.

I see what you did there. I love UT Classic. I should install it again... Although my brother loved it more, having trophies and whatnot...

Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I was told (so it's likely to be wrong) the arguement is that LP's generally fall under Commentary, Satire and Review, which would be fair use. EDIT: It's a ridiculously bad idea to mess with Let's Plays anyway, since 90% of my game purchases are based on "I saw an LP of a game that looked fun" and I'm not the only one (for example, the only reason Amnesia was remotely successful is because there were a lot of videos of people getting their pants scared off on YouTube).

Best thread ever.

Most of the murders on Castle aren't so much horrid as they are horribly entertaining.

That is clever. What is the most interesting thing about this is it shows how much your kids must like and respect you if they are prepared to spend personal time researching you. Its credit to you and the positive influence you have on there lives and something to be proud of, so nice one I dunno, if I ever researched a teacher it was to try and find something I could use against them.

I think content creators for YouTube (it's well established that a Let's Player has the most subscribed to channel on Youtube) are going to move on to somewhere else if the ridiculous treatment of intellectual property on Youtube continues. In fact, this is already happening - many small-time Let's Players have moved on to Livestreaming on places like Twitch.

I have one, I just loathe electronic or any other kind of paperwork. I didn't like the idea that I was forced to use PayPal, so I never pledged. Also, they take up too much screen real estate. Maybe squeeze them in side by side or something. Mmmm...you boys are sounding guilty about not pledging and seem to be justifying why you didn't pledge But I don't think anyone should really care why a person did or didn't pledge. Its a personal choice and it doesn't mean your contribution on the forums isn't as relevant or interesting compared to someone who did pledge. I'm confidant you will purchase the game when its released and that's equally as important from a revenue generating perspective for Obsidian To be honest I didn't want a specific backers site or these special forums badges. I think it can be a little divisive, I can guarantee you we will get a situation later on during some heated debate around some gameplay component in PoE that someone will say something like " you didn't even back this project so your opinion means nothing" I prefer a website where everyone is seen as equal and they are all fans of RPGs and Obsidian I'm not guilty about it. I'm buying it when it comes out anyway. I don't use credit cards so PayPal was my only way to pledge - and I don't trust PayPal. The kickstarter goal had been made already by the time I found out so it's not like my pledge mattered, and this way they can still get some profit out of it. I'm concerned everyone who wants PE already backed it and I think Obsidian deserves better than just being able to budget a game.
-
That's because horrid murders shouldn't be a backdrop for romance.
-
Also a reason I never backed it. I don't trust PayPal in the slightest. I do have to agree that the badges are huge eyesores, but with my signature I'm not sure I'm allowed to complain.
-
I, uh, better run. I didn't back P:E. I'm super excited about it, but it already hit the goal when I found out and I decided to buy it retail price instead. I mean, they kinda want it to turn a profit, right?

Hah, not really Obsidian specific because the captcha's are automized but I share your concern. It's only a matter of time the randomized captchas form a sequence that awaken great Cthulhu.

I was horribly underleveled the first time I did the Firkraag bit. Never even got to the bastard.

No worries, pretty much nobody knows - it took three shrinks, two GP's and several nights in a sleep lab to finally figure it out.

Weather changes coupled with DSPS. I usually deal with it pretty well thanks to light therapy tricking my biological clock but sometimes it gets to me.

Hang in there, Nep. Personally haven't been sleeping too well. Didn't get more than eight hours sleep total over the past four days. I hope I don't start hallucinating again.

That last bit felt exactly like a video game.
