SLOWED RECOVERY WHILE MOVING - NO THANKS
The ability to kite a whole bunch of enemies while the rest of the party mows them down unhindered is the glaring issue here. Devs, please adress this. The Recovery slowdown doesnt solve anything since the kiter doesnt need to attack. The problem is with the AI, and could possibly be solved in a quick fix by making unengaged enemies reevaluate targets every few seconds.

SLOWED RECOVERY WHILE MOVING - NO THANKS
Oh come on - the recovery penalty makes it easier to kite because the melee enemies that you are kiting have their recovery slowed while they are moving. That's one of the (many) reasons why this is a silly mechanic. That is indeed a problem. But again, that is an issue with the AI. If not engaged, enemies should be reevaluating targets every few seconds (slightly randomized).

SLOWED RECOVERY WHILE MOVING - NO THANKS
If you're disagreeing about DotA being tactical then you clearly don't know much about the game. It is lightning fast, but you have to make tactical decisions ALL the time, you are constantly doing it. EVERYTHING matters - movement, positioning, ability timing, ability order, ability synergy, using the terrain and fog of war ... there are so many decisions you make every few seconds that are tactical decisions, and most of them you do without thinking. It's fast, but it is super tactical. I wasnt saying that. It is indeed a tactical game. I am disagreeing with the statement that DOTA is The most tactical game there is. I do not measure tactical depth by number of parameters, but rather by profound mechanics. In order to make PoE more tactical, I would like to see an improved AI. These other mechanics I am kindof indifferent about. They take away while adding new elements. They may be, but they are also making you think ahead to a larger extent. Your actions carry more weight so to speak. "Do I really want to engage with this dude, or do I need to stop him because Engaging will have aftereffects reverberating throughout the encounter. I may need to retreat or disable him and Engage that other dude first."

SLOWED RECOVERY WHILE MOVING - NO THANKS
I have to disagree with this. DOTA is extremely fast paced and unforgiving, but that doesnt make it more 'tactical' than any other game. A huge part of DOTA is knowing what every item does in order to not waste time browsing the store, and I wouldnt really call that 'tactical'. Tactical would be mechanics that affect the outcome of your actions. In fact, both Engagement and Recovery Penalty are such mechanics. This doesnt necessarily make them 'fun' however, but they are not making combat less tactical. Only different.

SLOWED RECOVERY WHILE MOVING - NO THANKS
You get to be in the thick of the action and hit stuff with your sword, and live to tell about it. You can break engagement with several talents if you want to move around cautiously, and you can sprint/charge with other talents if you want to be fast.

so, how did ya'll started liking this genre?
Went over to a friends house. He had gotten BG for his birthday and I watched him explore the wilderness and I realized I had seen nothing like it. The ambience and music was pretty cool. When I got home I couldnt stop thinking about that odd game with the amazing wilderness atmosphere. I convinced my brother to download it for me, which took some dedication since it was 5 discs That was like 15-20 years ago... I never really stopped playing it

SLOWED RECOVERY WHILE MOVING - NO THANKS
Sometimes I get the feeling they are implementing these features as a 'dirty' way to sidestep better AI. But I shouldnt pass out judgements until Ive sat down with the release build for a few hours.

SLOWED RECOVERY WHILE MOVING - NO THANKS
Isnt this mainly a way to punish ranged characters for kiting away in the few cases where they actually do get targeted? Also, are talents like sprint/charge affected by this?

Melee Wizard
Roll a Melee class for the bodytype and talents, and go heavy into Lore in order to use powerful scrolls.
-
Armed Monk?
Nice. I felt a little gimped using Greywolfs Frostbrand as a monk in BG. But it felt cool (pun) so I kept doing it.

Female Orlan taller than male orlan
To some spider species, it is common practise for the larger female to devour the male after copulation. How do you like them bananas?

[480] Dyrford crossing - River glitch
A bug for sure, although I dont think it looks that bad. Sortof looks like the wind scratching the surface, affecting the surface structure. IRL there are often matte patches on water surfaces, depending on the wind. One static matte spot might look odd after a while though

Will party formation matter?
Great to hear that the Player character does the talking. In BG, dialogue was often (not always) handled by whoever was closest to the speaker. That led to some odd situations, where your companions was referred to as yourself, and spoke as though they were roleplaying your character. It was confusing and ruined some dialogues in a roleplaying sense.

What will be your first player character?
After some consideration I might just switch out Drifter for Aristocrat, dumping Survival for some Lore instead. That way I can add some spellcasting into the arsenal, becoming more of a trained assassin and less of a bum Although being a bum has its merits...

Best attributes spread for a rogue?
Aint Lore values used as a requirement to use scrolls? Depending on scroll frequency/gold value, it could be vital to Hybrid spellcaster builds like Fighter-Mage.

What will be your first player character?
Name: Fingers Race: Human male Culture: Old Vailia Class: Rogue Background: Drifter Tools: Guns & Daggers

Dual Wielding, Styles and Specialization. What why?
And speed & DR bypass for dual wield. IMO Fits with the rogue themed dual wielding aswell...
-
Helms, hoods, etc. are for aesthetic only?
Then we can rule out any clipping issues as the reason for this. Hmm, yes it is odd indeed. Adding a slot for a non-visual item should be a no brainer.

Dual Wielding, Styles and Specialization. What why?
It was perfeclty fine the BG way. It was powerful but you had to spend a lot of weapon profs on it.
-
Helms, hoods, etc. are for aesthetic only?
Then Im wondering, do amulets have any visuals?

Will this game have PVP for endgame fun?

[480] AI Targeting/Pathfinding issue that causes idle melee units in combat
Yeah that was sarcasm on my part

[480] AI Targeting/Pathfinding issue that causes idle melee units in combat
I guess Medreth is a coward. In some cases this 'mechanic' makes sense. IRL if there is a mob attacking a smaller group, they dont go in all at once. They sort of encircle the group and send in a few dudes at a time. However, I agree a target re-evaluation should occur after a little while, if pathing is blocked. Shouldnt be that difficult to add.

Helms, hoods, etc. are for aesthetic only?
So if a fire-godlike is unable to wear a cowl, how the hell do they expect them to go into stealth mode? 'Hey, Fred... Do you see something over there?' 'Uummm... Sortof looks like a burning head... kind of thing. ' 'Thats what I thought! OI! YOU THERE!' 'Hey relax man, its probably just... Its probably nothing.' 'Hrmm... Yeah okay, but I dont like it.'
