  1. Bastila, no contest.
  2. You mean you've never heard that theory before? A big part of it has to do with erosion. Some speculate that a lot of the erosion on the Giza Pyramids was due to water, not wind erosion. The last watery period of Egypt was estimated at around the third millenium BC, and some believe the amount of supposed water erosion is enough to date them back at least 2000 years before hand. The oldest theorized age is about 12,000 years from what I've read. There's more evidence here: article (scroll down to see section on age) Also, there's an interesting theory called the Orion correlation theory, which has to do with the alignment of the Pyramids and Orion's belt, shown here So if this stuff is true, than the Pyramids at Giza are older than the Egyptian civilization itself, meaning they were not built by them. (This actually has to do more with the Giza Pyramids, not the Egyptian Pyramids in general, which I accidentally said above)
  3. Draken's review is done, Eldar! You know what that means.
  4. Here's an interesting fact for ye: the Egyptian Pyramids could be almost twice as old as expected, which would put their age at about 10,000 years, which predates Egyptian civilization. Food for thought.
  5. Quit your bitching and pay up.
  6. YA RLY. Welcome back.
  7. The Atlanteans built it. That is the only logical explanation.
  8. Saw Lord of the Flies, the 1963 version, made after one of my favorite books. It was a good film overall, only the catchy trumpet tune is now stuck in my head.
  9. Sounds fun. I think I will. For you Kung fu lovers out there, also take a look at Master of the Flying Guillotine. Okay, it's heavy on the cheese. So what?!!
  10. For a second I thought you meant Heaven and Earth. A good film. A little boring in some parts, but a nice little Samurai epic. EDIT: Okay. Which probably explains why they're so different. I actually kind of liked Scary Movie 3. :">
  11. Was it any good? Or was it the same pile of crap that was Scary Movie 1? Oh - Ghostbusters! Long live 80's movies.
  12. The Subject of this report is Draken, aka Draken Fett In the dark ages of TOMBS, there existed a mysterious lone bounty hunter under the identity of Draken Fett. As a ruthless and cunning hunter, he was feared throughout the Obsidian fora. But as time progressed, Draken Fett retired from the savage career of bounty hunting, gave up killing (for the time) and changed his name to "Draken". Not one to be timid, Draken immediately made his presence known upon arrival to Obsidian. His first post also started his first topic which lasted 3 pages. Not bad for a first time, eh? The guy's got brass. And for that, the reviewer tips his hat. He hasn't started many topics since his arrival, but he's started good, sometimes surprisingly insightful topics, such as the Black/white discussion. Draken came to Obsidian for the same reason many others do - KOTOR. The guy is a fan of SW and the KOTOR series, as evidenced by his former name "Draken Fett". Draken also enjoys art. In his early days, he was a frequent visitor of the KOTOR fanart forum, even inspiring other artists to include him in their SW artwork. Bravo! Yes, Draken was, and still is, a Bastila fan, perhaps one of the most imposing on this forum. And for that, the reviewer once again tips his hat. Though maybe not as much as he used to, he still visits the K2 section of Obsidian. Kindness? He may not be Mr. Nice Guy, but Draken is definitely a nice guy. He doesn't flame, but at the same time can drop a witty, sometimes scathing post here or there, many times putting a fanboy in his place. He doesn't really debate, nor does he need to. He seems pretty intelligent, or at least is good at making it seem that way. But yes, Draken has proven to be quite witty at times. Posts like this: Or this... Hahahaha! Some interesting facts about Draken: * He likes the Super Mario Brothers movie (it's okay, we forgive you) * He likes peanut butter and pickle sandwhiches. Yummy! * He likes to "cuddle" with his girlfriend. Not the most randy person to walk Obsidian, but Draken definitely likes his women. * He once wore a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt in a corporate bigwig's office. If that isn't ballsy, I don't know what is. * (I don't have a fifth fact yet) * He at times goes by the guise of Baron von Kill, enemy of the ADS! But all around, Draken is a cool guy. A great person to have a friendly chat with at any time. The reviewer is definitely glad to have met him and be able to call him friend.
  13. Anyway... Kansas - Carry on my Wayward Son
  14. I was bored today, so I decided to whip out Soul Calibur 2, which I haven't played in ages. *sob* Why did they have to make SC3 for PS2 only???
  15. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/20...20_pyramid.html For you. This is old news, apparently, dating back to last october. Rather, this week was when they unearthed geometrically cut stone slabs that appear to make up the sloping surface.
  16. A new pyramid has been discovered in of all places, Bosnia. The entire thing is buried under a hill and if estimations are correct, it could be the tallest in the world. There are two other hills next to it that could house pyramids as well.
  17. Happy birthdays, kquat and calax. May you have many more.
  18. The Matrix Reloaded soundtrack, specifically the score from the "Blade Leapers" scene.
  19. Maybe, maybe not. Vast majority of goths which I have encountered listen to many of the same things you do, including the metal/death metal variety, both old school and new school, while sometimes balancing it out with some other styles. Yes, I have met a couple goths who listen to Johnny Cash, but that's as close to country as they've ever come. It depends. Some share views similar to nihilism, while not branding themselves as nihilists. There are plenty of atheist goths who have a philosphically satanic mentality, as you also do, at least in some respects. Yes. It varies. Some tend to be very well read, others are not. At least from what I've encountered, it tends to be half and half. It can be both genuine and faux. Some I know have a genuine obsession, others don't. But usually that theme tends to be pretty pervasive characteristic. In my experience, the whole sexuality thing has often been a compliment to all the violence and depression. And I disagree, many goths which I have encountered tend not to be verbose in their writing. (Ex. Gabrielle) Or maybe you and I have just met radically different goths in our lifetime. Okay, I'll give you that one. But actually what I should have said was that many seem to share views similar to his. But if you claim you don't, then fine. That's all I'll say since we're now derailing the thread, as Muso pointed out.
  20. Once again, duh. Of course not all goths follow a pattern set in stone. But there are lot of characteristics that, when they compliment each other, make up the group. But if you viewed them all as a whole, why did you then say I basically just described every emo, hiptser, geek, indie, and literary professor in the country, when that's clearly not the case? You basically stereotyped about four different groups right there and contradicted the point you were just trying to make in the process. Enlighten me, please. Or at least word your posts a little more carefully.
  21. Pearl Jam - Better Man
  22. Hey, you changed your sig!
  23. Definitely not. Aha. So, in America, everyone who is not a jock is a goth. Okay, got it. Nice of you to stereotype 99.9% of America's high school going youth, and probably yourself, too. In fact, that's probably all my lit teachers too. I mean, seriously, you just described every hipster, indie snob, emo kid and geek in existence. And as far as I know, these are American stereo- and archetypes. All in all, stop being so obliviously emo. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's profound. So did you purposely misread my post, or are you really that thick? First off, the qualities I listed were not meant to mean that each individual quality = goth. Otherwise, as you most astutely pointed out, 99% of people in America would be goth. But they're meant to be taken as a whole, each attribute complimenting the other. Duh. Unless of course you mean to say that every person who likes literature has a cynical view of life and is anti-conformist, which I guess makes perfect sense. Anyway, what you're thinking is not what I meant at all. There are plenty of geeks who aren't that interested in literature or the human psyche. Nor do all hipsters have a nihilistic view of life. The qualities of a goth, or any stereotypical social group, comprise of many amalgamated qualities, not just one distinct feature. Or maybe in your attempt to sound intelligent you missed that detail. Nice try, though. Hope that clears things up.
  24. who do you think? Someone from the "state of California"
  25. Okay. Taste in music being a big factor. A nihilistic, non-conformist, anti-theistic outlook on life. Generally pessimistic attitude and a negative view of society. A high interest in literary works and poetry, especially ones with dark tones. Obsession with angst and the macabre. Writing poetry/literature of one's own with the same themes, including replete vulgar sexual references. Not to mention familiarity with Nietzsche philosphy. So yeah, you're definitely a qualified goth. Maybe you Romanians have different standards on what a goth is, but over here in America you'd fit right in.
