http://kotaku.com/5579491/video-game-beard...losers/gallery/ Matt, you are "The White Whale". Got beaten by the Senior VFX artist at High Voltage. or this guy:

It's going ok, got the car, working on getting all my stuff together for the move (which is hard considering the sheer amount of stuff that's mine). Right now tho, I'm actually packing because I'm going to NY on thursday to my grandparents wedding anniversary (60th) and trying to find somebody to drive out to Iowa with me so that I can assuage my parents (who think that if i go alone I'll like... blow up the car or something)

Yes, it is still ongoing and yes, climactic battle.Of course it did not lead anywhere, you were watching a crappy anime full of even worse filler. I think it

Thing is as Di pointed out, technically in Texas the only people who can have the License are either on green cards or citizens, which makes having said marker useless except to provide Cops etc ammunition to "persuade" people by threatening to have them deported.

I think Myth 1 might have made it to free ware, myth 2 is like 5 bucks, both are REALLY rough games in terms of difficulty. Gah, can't believe I forgot this but Myth is actually based off (loosely) off the Black Company books (to the point where in one of the development screenies a character is named after one of the creatures in the books). The story is crafted pretty well, and your ai is smart enough (for it's time it's pretty awesome) except for the dwarves who have a tendancy to blow up your own guys. Dwarf: INCOMING! AI narrator: Casualty, Casualty, Casualties (as the dwarfs Molotovs land in your troops)

I suppose the question is where do we draw the line between politically correct and xenophobic while still maintaining a border open enough that the Statue of Liberty doesn't need to have it's book changed. If we become completely xenophobic and seal our borders airtight except those who get through legally then I feel we've let down what is part of our national identity. I somehow doubt locking down our borders and saying "You can come becuase DEY DOOK OUR JRRRBS!" is keeping in the spirit of that statement.

Which is an entirely different issue. I think unisex bathrooms would work fine. However, if the law states that bathrooms should be separated by gender, then the bathroom which is available to a transsexual probably should be decided based on whatever reasoning responsible for having the bathrooms separated in the first place. If it's not treated in that manner then the law loses significance and should be entirely rewritten. Does anyone actually know if the law states this sort of thing? or is it just a sort of unwritten civil decorum thing?
-
In other words she is a sane person. Not so sure about that. Government support for transsexuals is not exactly a clear-cut issue. And I'm a fairly liberal person. At the heart of this issue you would have to examine why bathrooms are separated by sex in the first place. When you do that you'll find that such an edict has some fairly hard-to-resolve implications. Eh, then again, maybe the gender restraints on bathrooms shouldn't be as harsh. I mean Europe supposedly has a fair number of unisex bathrooms and don't seem to have to much trouble with it.

Aus, it's been censored forever. And I posted this in the random game news thread

So... if they already have that requirement doesn't making the "citizen" mark basically become useless? I mean if people are jobbing the system to already require this then why would adding a marker saying "citizen" do anything beyond make for much easier profiling and manipulation by law enforcement?

Yes, but if the border fence is actually completed, they'll have to swim around it. Seriously, this is a major problem for millions and millions of people. I guess people who haven't been adversely affected can't understand the magnitude, but it truly is substantial. Thing is, they would. It's happened with Cuba (an island nation mind you) and even now drug runners are using small boats to go up the Cali coast to get in. Two water entry points along with XX highway entry points is a lot easier to secure than 3000 miles of open desert. Illegal entries and drug smuggling would decrease by 80-90%. Thing is, water access is MUCH harder to police. From what I've seen the CG and other authorities basically only catch people zipping up the coast in a boat by luck rather than anything because its' just so hard to find a person in pitch black who's running without lights. Of course this is significantly more dangerous than simply digging under a fence but still, it'd only slow immigration by a small amount methinks.

Yeah, they messed up the conversion between $ and anything else.

You know, given how much people whine about having to have other language ballots etc, you could fix that with a single law making English the official language (we currently don't have an official language in america)

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground

http://kotaku.com/5577920/this-means-beard-war Apparently our devs are big into beard wars. -

I have no idea what this means. Best guess is he's referring to a few empires in the past (rome in particular) who've fallen because the "barbarians" got in so deeply that when a normal roman tax was enacted they revolted and burned it to the ground.
-
It should be significantly better. Admittedly end game is REALLY grindy, but with the rebuild of the "old world" you should be able to walk around MUCH less grindy than if you'd started now, or during either Burning Crusade and Vanilla. Admittedly PvP servers will be significantly more dangerous (flying level capped characters parachuting onto you and one shotting you), but overall the game should be much more varied due to updated mechanics.

you can get those like rain. I can toss people 7 days and if they buy it I get a bonus.

And I'm surprised some idiot hasn't proposed we give Arizona & California back to Mexico. Oh wait... someone has! http://obamacom.blogspot.com/2010/05/teach...volt-in-us.html And people have proposed anarchist revolts. How that relates to the situation at hand is confusing. The blog you posted implies that Obama is seriously thinking about giving two states back. If we did just outright remove the illegals you'd probably see the California farm industry just collapse because they don't have the money to stay alive, either that or food prices would SKYROCKET on produce.

<3 brayenko.... and what happens if he lives.

Heck, I doubt they'll let themselves get to 100. If they did I can see how they'd let the 1-60 game become free, but once you hit expansion territory you're starting to pay a fee.

Boy, I didn't know my kryptonian genes had spread that far...

Let me know when the heat starts to buckle the train lines and I'll give you some cheese for your whine. How about destroying the highways?
-
*shrugs* I'm sure they don't mean this, but somebody will construe this as "if you don't have your license you will be deported as an illegal". Ironically my Sociology teacher (who loooved to preach about in-equalities) would leap on this as an example of an extension of what one of her professors families went through (apparently in like the 20's or something there was a string of mass deportations where if somebody who looked non-white didn't have their papers, they were tossed on a train and sent to mexico... I've never seen this mentioned anywhere else so I figure it's a little bit of fact, lotta bit of fiction).

We support amendment of the Americans with Disabilities Act to exclude from its definition those persons with infectious diseases, substance addiction, learning disabilities, behavior disorders, homosexual practices and mental stress, thereby reducing abuse of the Act. See, the thing is that you ask at what point does an infectious disease go from "non ADA" to ADA. Also on this point, I find it interesting that Learning and Behavior disabilities are both under the "remove" column when they both are MASSIVE strokes that run everything from basic add where you can still function very well, to something like my bipolar where you function pretty well but have to either be on meds or spend a week out of every 9 unable to work, to Tirets where you probably couldn't function very well in normal society without help. It seems almost like they're taking the Scientology approach to mental disability/disorder, "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG! YOU'RE JUST LYING!"
