Black Ops was made by Treyarch rather than IW. And MW2 was sold mainly on the premise of "it's the same company who did MW1" and yet it had significantly less polish than it's predecessor to the degree that you'd have thought it was made by a first time company. And Nep, I was saying that I'd need to have evidence of the "draconian measures" at IW before I'd believe it. At least with the Map pack delay there's an email (tongue in cheek or not) that demonstrates it's existence from a source that didn't think that this would happen.

Show me evidence beyond the word of the people. Show me that they didn't explicitly breach their contract in the production of the game and then using their control of the game to cause industrial sabotage as a favor to their future employers. If there was an implicit understanding between West and Zamp's group, and EA before the release of MW2 that they'd be moving companies, there is no reason they should get extra money. And by your logic EA is as much an evil company given their history.
-
Except, as pointed out in the article, if West and Zamp broke their contract, then they don't get no money. You can cry all you want, but it's law that matters, not your personal axe against activision. I do find it silly that you take West and Zamp at their word right off, but will ignore anything that Acti says because of your idiocy until there's such incredible proof that you'd have to be deaf, dumb, blind, and mentally inside out to not see it. Also, I am TOTALLY buying duke (although, being the person I am, I just pray that the game isn't censored >.>)

Ended up picking up hot persuit for the PC. NICE game but do need to find a proper controller for it, keyboard works, but not optimal.
-
Then it becomes "who broke the law first" assuming both are true, hater. After all EA headhunting right out of Acti's pocket and utilizing the promise of a good job to delay a competitors item, is against the law, and currently that seems to have more to back it up then word of mouth.

I'm playing through it right now and agree that the execute system is great. I also like sending assassins to kill my targets and then just sitting back to watch. I sent two of them against some soldiers on a castle wall, turned away to continue the fight downstairs, and when I looked up there were two assassin's on horseback up on the wall and a bunch of dead bodies. It's a not possible to ride a horse up there so they had no way of getting down, so they just keep pacing back and forth waiting for me to look away so they could disappear. When you get em fully upgraded you just summon em all and they turn the entire place into a killing field while you sip a martini.

Yes, but the dudes on the deathstar didn't need massive background checks.

How did Brotherhood fare compared to ACII? Pretty good but shorter. Like Yhatzee said, most of the plot expansion is done on the "outside" rather than with Ezio. Overall Ezio's story is basically "build a power base and hunt down the Borgia family". There is a fairly good reason you loose all of your equipment right off too (your villa gets attacked and you basically have just enough time to put on your hidden blade and that's it). Basically it's Assassins Creed 2 with the "faffing about" becoming more prominent than the story. The best addition by far is the "Execute" system. Basically when you're fighting and you counter or Execute somebody (stab them enough to get a special animation for a kill) you can build a combo that leads to MANY dead bodies REALLY fast. If they put it in for the end of AC1 that level would probably be half as long because the fight would be done in 30 seconds. Honestly, I would LOVE for them to produce something that makes it so you could just run AC2 and Brotherhood off the same disk with Brotherhoods systems, but that'll never work.

Heavy Rain is currently on the chopping block, but since I last posted in one of these I've done Red Dead Redemption Split Second Call of Duty Black Ops Sengoku Basara (not much of this) Assassins Creed II Assassins Creed Brotherhood Metro 2033 WoW Mass Effect 2 and a bit of Team Fortress 2. I kinda want to get a new game, and have the urge to go driving. Split second, for all it's fun, when you get down to it, is the same six tracks just with different turns and shortcuts added. Best guess is that either I'll pick up something off of Steam (or some sod could give me something off my wishlist >.>) or head to gamestop and snag me a Gran Truismo 5. Well either driving or a semi-realistic shooter like Rainbow Six Vegas. God I wish I had my games library here. Of course that library is practically gutted thanks to all my stuff having gotten stolen in the Des Moines post office.

Stupid question, but I'm assuming that "Nukes" is some kind of role in the army.. or a technician handling nukes? No, "Nukes" are the guys that work on and maintain the nuclear reactors that power most US aircraft carriers. This. Basically you're sent off to get trained on how to operate the nuke reactors and get nearly the amount of credits needed for a degree as a nuclear engineer. Also there's an automatic requirement for the security clearance so very few people are actually able to get into the corner of the ship you work in.
-
Yeah, still highest bonus at least at enlistment, but you also got a two year auto extension on initial enlistment, and when you got in you were the guy who was scrubbing decks because in order to even get INTO the compartments you had to have the clearance.

I don't think anybody here is suggesting that women can't serve in war zones on active service. This is a role-related issue. With respect you are missing the point slightly. And in most western armed forces bayonet technicians (inf) are usually on the lowest payscales. The technical roles (like Guard Dog working in aviation tech) tend to get articifer NCO status and higher pay increments to recognise their training and skills. The role we're talking about is infantry and armour. The pointy bit. It's just different. Like Shady said, you are paid according to your rank and time in service, your MOS has nothing to do with it. In many ways, having a MOS like I had works against you. It is a small field and it is very hard to make rank. You need to wait for someone to die, get discharged or transfer to get promoted. I was a Lance Corporal for almost four years with excellent PFT scores, Pros & Cons (Proficiency & Conduct scores) and I shot expert every time I qualified. If I was in the infantry I'd have made Corporal in half that time. I've always told everyone interested in the USMC, if you think you might want to make a career of it, do your first tour in the Infantry. You can make rank quickly and you have your choice of jobs once you re-enlist. Plus having that experience gives you the inside track on making Warrant Officer boards or later on selection to ranks like First Seargent or Seargent Major. And this is why I refused to go into Nuke in the navy.

Isn't there supposed to be FFXIII versus soon?

Well, Vegas kinda is part of their problem with the industry. It's conversation system is just a check, and it's lockpick and hacking systems aren't nearly as in depth as the combat system. The reason they used their example (from what I can see anyway) is because EVERYTHING is as complicated and deep as the combat system, rather than getting shallower the further you get from combat.

Actually, look at the sexuality vid... they specifically cite two characters from persona 4 and dig into one of them. And Soph, IIRC they didn't define HOW new vegas disappointed. Heck, it could have been a disappointment in sales, or the horrific state of bugs that it shipped with.

Same thing it meant when folks warned that integrating blacks and gays into the military would compromise combat effectiveness. It means they don't want "those people who are not like us" integrated into the military. Except that blacks and gay guys don't carry around an extra layer of fat and less muscle mass compared to the other guy. Biology matters here, no matter how much you want to stick your fingers in your ears and scream, it does. For basic, front line infantry work, you need to have a unit that can do whatever is asked to the same standard. Now either that standard is lowered to average in women, or women are not permitted into that role and have to look elsewhere for their chosen job. It should be noted this only really effects two branches of the US military (army and marines) and the other two aren't nearly as physically intensive. The blacks was pure non-educated racism. Gays was homophobia and the fear that other homophobes would kill the groups morale. Women it's mainly for biological necessities (particularly considering that usually when somebody comes off a "combat high" they have an urge to pro-create)
-
Basically, it's the ability for an infantry unit to carry out combat. At minimal combat effectiveness you've probably got walking wounded led by a guy with wall eye, at maximum is the movie standard "tough as nails and cares only about his gun" sort of thing. In general one of the things that people are trying to say would destroy combat effectiveness is that the average woman can't carry as much or move as much so if a team is ordered to move from point a to b as fast as possible they're gonna be a little light weight wise and moving a bit slower because of the female. Also there's the inherent problem of what happens when men and women get close to each other. I heard one person that I used to talk to griping because her husband (a part of the personnel department on a base) was having to deal with newly pregnant females on a base in iraq, and sending them back to the States while requisitioning new troops. And yeah, you don't get kicked out but you do get instantly thrown on a plane and sent back to the states if you're pregnant. Hell, some women are even getting knocked up to prevent deployment.

I just found out that one of my cousins' is an instructor there. This is my last semester at mercer, going to wait a bit before I submit my transfer application. well gang up on Krook why dontcha? Admittedly if this was 30 odd years ago My grandfather would be teaching there/running the environmental Science department.

Shadowbroker IMO really knocked it out of the park in terms of integration and storytelling. Although I do wish they'd added SOMETHING after you finish the conversations with Liara. Going back to the new location and hearing the same four words again.. and again... and again really got annoying.

Working on getting dates with a new aussie housemate. She's pretty personable and certainly is attractive.

I enjoyed it, good for mindless slaughter of zombies. If I do that, I'm gonna use bloody Dynasty Warriors.
