  1. http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showuser=10830 I've been wondering more and more what happened to this old soul. He used to be a regular. Last thing I heard he shipped out for Iraq. Is anyone still in touch?
  2. Chainsaws may work in the movies, but they spray putrescent flesh everywhere. They also require serious experience to handle properly. I always seem to be out of town during outbreaks, but I favour a halberd or spade. Certainly a halberd or boar spear is perfect for handling zombies (or 'zulus' in the British Army) as part of a group. Something to keep in mind during all this is the physical fitness. Sure you may be able to swing a chainsaw for five minutes, but you may have to fight for hours at a time. Core strength, and aerobic fitness, not to mention careful attention to weapon weight have to be considered.
  3. Because so many more people DON'T? And that's really something to be proud of.
  4. Aw, bless. He's so cute when he's sleeping.
  5. I agree with Sluggo. I've been to the States more times than I can recall*, and it is often the out of the way places which rock. Not always, but sometimes. If you think about it how could American cuisine be anything other than superb, when it is the contact point for some many cultures and trade routes. Oh, wait, I'm forgetting how crappy English cooking can be... welll... we had teh War and rationing, so there. *Damned alzheimers
  6. Love to help. Got no idea.
  7. From old thread: More 18th Century economics courtesy of Sand.
  8. Landmark ruling. Being a whining ape is an offence.

    Poetry

My poetry could easily be classed a crime against humanity. My favourite poets are Pablo neruda, and G.K. Chesterton (when he wasn't being anti-Semitic*). *There's debate about whether he was or not. I happen to think he was. But at the time practically everyone was. And at least GK wasn't frothingly anti-semitic. Indeed he occasionally said some rather nice things about Judaism, hence the debate.
  10. Slept surprisingly well. I'm negotiating a complicated contract for my professional services. I need to buy back my time from one client to work for another.
  11. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/education/7275452.stm I ran across this, link-jumping on the Beeb. I had no idea essay writing services even existed, and if I had I would never have considered using one. 1. Do people here think the use of such services is on the rise? 2. Is the use of such services higher in non-native English speakers? 3. Why do people use these services? 4. Might it not be possible for a University to sue an essay writing service if it was complicit in committing plagiarism?
  12. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics...fghanistan.html The paras lead an offensive against the Talibs in Afghanistan. Note that the Talibs declared this year would see big gains by them, which have so far failed to materialise. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7429879.stm US deaths in Iraq at a four year low this last month, continuing a trend this year towards political compromise and improving prospects for peace.
  13. Yeah, because it's not like they gave us pizza, deli sandwiches, popcorn, and most of the art of mixed alcoholic drinks...
  14. What if the cheese was melted?
  15. Is it just me or is theslug the least likely person to become an accountant, ever?
  16. Have I mentioned how sick I am of Westerners playing into the hands of the extremists? Every time you see a terrorist and think 'Muslim' they get a bit closer to winning. They're trying to set up a war between Islam and Democracy when there's no figging reason for one. It's like trying to set up a war between Cheese and Stepladders.
  17. Please see the zombie survival sticky.
  18. The obvious answer would have been to find a lvl 1 adventurer and offer some trinkets in exchange for THEM getting the cat down. This would have involved killing rats for some reason. Possibly the cat is scared of them.
  19. Well, I can only apologise for not stickying it sooner. You were quite correct. This is a matter of public responsibility. And I'd like to point out how far ahead of other companies Obsidian is.
  20. Nuts. I didn't puncture a lung, but it is starting to hurt more now. Probably because I can't stop poking it. I'm at a client's today, and they think I'm bonkers.
  21. I can see Al Qaeda fanbois getting all juiced up over the images. Who made them is more or less irrelevant. I've seen terrorist agitprop on youtube that was spliced in images from actual feature films!
  22. Did full day's training, then established that odd pain in chest from yesterday is probably broken rib. Feeling consequently extremely macho.
  23. I think Dr Who is great, although it's size eleven boots approach to moralising is getting annoying. The only other thing I don't like about it is that the soldiers in UNIT don't know how to wear bloody berets properly.
  24. You really are dense aren't you. Is situational awareness a requirement for moderation ? Huh? I'm sorry, I didn't catch that... EDIT: I don't want to see any form of persecution on these fora. It's against the rules, and it's beneath the calibre of people present. Let's focus on the debate, not the debaters.
