Global warming scam exposed!
If you don't beleive in global warming your ignorant. EoD. Or you might have yet to see a comprehensive and intelligible case put to you. Is this your fault given the thousands of people who are paid to put that case forward?

Let's talk about pretend racism.
I think a lot of it depends on their aims, as some have already suggested. However, o an extent ANY individual capable of large scale unilateral change to the environment will be viewed - correctly in my opinion - as a potential hazard. One of the remarkable things about our species is that we can enact huge changes, but largely only in concert. This puts a degree of inertia into change. Rapid unregulated change of any kind is inherently toxic to living organisms. By chance such a being would also pose a threat to vested interests, so I think you could be fairly sure that while bat-eared boy would be fine, atom man would be quietly poisoned.

Global warming scam exposed!
1. The basic problem is that if climate change is correct then the only really realistic way to combat it is a world government. And the thought of that doesn't make me giddy with glad feelings. 2. Actually, reducing pollution is expensive, and the burden fall heavily on those nations which are still industrialising. Therefore it means prolonging their poverty. Which is a big deal if it's just so we can get in a flap at posh dinner parties. 3. Even for those nations which can adjust their pollution status, in the West, it still means spending vast sums of cash on projects which might otherwise go to education or health, or helping the third world, or space travel.

Nuremberg may have not been exactly a witch hunt but they often took some peculiarly political views on who to nail and who to spare. As for ad hominem arguments I think they are justified. If we were discussing the nature of a true sportsman, and someone was arguing from the POV of a fat bastard who never even walked to the pie shop then his views obviously have a certain hollow ring to them. One might just as well write about sex before you've even kissed anyone.

Global warming scam exposed!
I read a short dicussion in the Daily Telegraph, which is a conservative paper, but has both pro and anti climate change columnists. In and of itself the story doesn't constitute a smoking gun, was their view. I think people's allegiance on climate change has far less to do with climate change evidence and far more to do with them either being raging anti-governmenters or being secret anti-capitalists. Being neither I worry about more pressing issues like Afghanistan.

All Hail the new.....EU-president?
Don't you live in the UK? Yes. We are in the EU. Did you not know that?

What you did today
I do think that instead of complaining about her you should "play" her. People with that kind of railroad mindset are rather easy to please. I misunderstood the aim of this.

It's all balls. Believe me, when push comes to shove and you need to risk your neck then all kinds of helpful qualms pop up out of nowhere, about the sanity of the moral you are defending, the value of the people you want to halep. I'm not a war veteran, but I have risked my lief to help people when the situation looked decidely sticky. If you allow yourself to do anything but act then you will be a coward. And if you think heroes help dictators and bastards you should see how helpful cowards are.

Exercise part 2
Lesson learned: don't go running at 2330 at night, having only had a cheese sandwich and some porridge to eat all day.

Not usre I follow you, mate. But if you are drinking to the poor sod who climbs to the lip of a shellscrape and is just about to save the day when he gets hit by random shrapnel and has his face pushed out his arse then I'm with you. If you're drinking to the poor sods who fell off the scramble nets on D-Day while boarding the landing craft and sank without a trace, then I'm with you. If you are drinking to the poor tommies who would have died for queen and qoutry but s*** themselves to death from typhoid, then I'm with you. But they still aren't heroes in the way that Capt. Chevasse was a hero.

Exercise part 2
Run an unqualified success. Romped the first 7 and a half minutes. Second half uphill but still brisk pace. Upper body pretty poor. Only one set of 20 pressups. Then 8, then 13 then 5 then 5. 40 second gaps. situps three blocks of 30. But only got through last set by doing three for GD's broken bones. I now feel very sick, and I can barely lift my arms.

Buying two new PC's
If you build them, any time anything goes slightly wrong they'll blame you. It's just human nature. Buy them out of a box and don't lose your weekends.

Registry cleaners for Vista
Thanks for the explanation. Sounds like a sort of etch-a-sketch lobotomy.

Company of Heroes
Good thought, but i suspect it wouldn't kill enough.

Exercise part 2
Did the hour walk yesterday to the train station and back. Today it's late but I'm going off to do a fifteen minute jog plus: 3 x 20 press ups 2 x 7 dorsal raises 2 x Tricep dips 3 x 30 situps

The german panther tank was a great tank. It was a nazi tank but that doesn't stop it being a good tank. Otto Skorzeny was a nazi, and his special group prolonged the war, probably by up to a year. But he was a hero. He was also, incidentally, tried for and acquitted of war crimes. But he's not as unequivocal as the chap in the first post. Anyway, I just realised someone invoked the nazis. Doesn't that mean you lose?

Genuine courage
Which is precisely why it exists. "Heroism" is a concept created by war leaders a very long time ago to inspire troops or knights or whatever kind of warriors to take greater risks and make graver sacrifices. Every parade a hero ever got in ancient times was designed to get more people to sign up for the next war, and they still have the same effect today even if we do it without realizing it. I

Have you seen New Moon?
Women's Hour on the BBC - yes there is such a thing - was going all gooey about it on Saturday. I refuse to have anything to do with it as a consequence. They've emasculated all the vamps, anyway, by the sound of things.

Company of Heroes
I'll consider werfers. But it annoys me that I can't use anything but luftwaffe in case the amis go rangers. Lame-o. I'll try again later.

A cool video of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor
You're right. You'd never think it would be that good, but it's really neat to see the progressions.

All Hail the new.....EU-president?
It's pretty simple. Either the EU President does important things in which case he should be elected OR He does nothing important in which case WHY PAY FOR HIM TO F*** ABOUT?

Basing it on nothing, really, except maybe what were apparently his last words. "Duty called and duty must be obeyed." If duty dictates that you should get blown up six different times in one of the dumbest wars ever fought, **** duty. That's not a good enough reason alone. Duty in this case is duty to your comrades in arms. Once you're in uniform the politics comes waaaaay second. Heroism - physical heroism - is tactical. If any soldier, be it Taliban or German or British made those personal sacrifices detailed above out of a sense of duty then he's a hero in my book. If that same sodier then goes on to machinegun a bunch of orphans then he's a fallen hero.
