The people who killed Theo van Gogh are no more muslims than the LRA are actually christians. FFS, calling them muslims is actually complimenting them for no reason.

Because - believe it or not - I reckon having people who disagree with you, and have some basis for doing so, actually helps. Because one thing which needs to be fixed sharpish about the MoD is the confidence the front line have in the top echelon. Ashdown has the raw credibility, even if his views don't gel perfectly. Plus the yanks might start listening to us again. BTW, the Mash nails it again. Which is probably shocking. But the effect this must be having on those filthy traitors at the Independent is worth it alone.

I think they should go further and ban anything triangular.

Cabinet postings just in. I'm disappointed that they've rejected Ashdown in favour of Liam Fox, who - with no disrespect to his efforts as shadow defence secretary - isn't on the same level. Otherwise it looks like a masterly negotiated settlement. Deputy PM is Nick Clegg, which means he'll be public enough to get exposed if he sticks his neck out. Vince Cable is in charge of banks, which is prime scapegoating territory Chris Huhne is energy scretary, which will be interesting because it will be funny to see their wishwash being subjected to the harsh light of reality. and there's some other newb been sent to the Scottish office, which is pretty much a '**** you' to the SNP.

The weird thing is that many commentators are blaming the rapid pace of change, and feeling of powerlessness and alienation in modern China. This is weird because it's essentially the symptoms of a 'futsie' (future shocked) person in the comic Judge Dredd. Futsies have been in the comic as long as I can remember.

I remember scoring 105% on my final psych exam two years ago And they say psychologists can't do maths...

Well, that was kinda what I was asking about, Krez. AV works fine if you are OK with other candidates too, but what if you aren't? My guess is that you will see independent candidates hoovering up. NOt that that's entirely wrong. I generally like independents, even if the one locally was only interested in (of all things) parking fines!

They'd be well advised to avoid Cassino since Clarke's glory hunting rendered every sacrifice on that line almost pointless. If there has ever been a general I should like to dig up and piss on it's him.

While I applaud your spirit of generosity, I have literally a shelf of Mao's own words downstairs in my library which suggest LoF is being revisionist to say the least. Mao's revolutionary doctrine is predicated at the most basic level on undermining the status quo through violence and fear. The people must be made to doubt the authorities' ability to govern first before they will consider any alternative. As I say, I need to look up the Nepalese point this weekend, when I have some proper time. But I don't see the Indian Maoists shying away from violence and thuggish intimidation.

I believe I used the word punk, and yes the 200 kids who marched are also being punks. Do you really believe these 5 students just innocently showed up with US flag bandanna's and matching T-shirts? They just happened to all coordinate their wardrobes on this day? You have a series of bad decisions being made here. It started when these 5 boys decided to synchronize their clothing on a day of a Mexican Heritage Celebration. All parties should be held accountable. I completely agree, as an ex-teacher myself. Is Steve around? Maybe he'll back us up too.

Don't beat yourself up, Morgo. I wasn't aware it was racist either until I got hauled up by a disciplinary a few years ago. My defence was that far from being a racist myself I had never heard it used that way and had no idea. A good example of how you have to be racially conscious to be both racist and politically correct. Frankly I'd rather everyone was not racially conscious, but since they aren't we have to adapt. Volo this isn't about the insult for you it's your aforementioned grievance against being 'victimised' for being white. As if whites in America are suddenly the victimised underclass. I don't accept that line from white South Africans and they have a **** of a lot more cause to claim it. Insults have to be appropriate to work. When they aren't they are just funny, precisely because of that logical underpinning.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/...l-in-China.html Is anyone else aware of so extreme a crime being copycatted so frequently in so short a time? I can't think of a single example.

NEWS JUST IN: Tories form coalition with Cleggie. Cleg gets deputy PM. This is going to be popcorn worthy political history. I also heard arumour that Ashdown may get Defence. Ashdown is ex SBS, and he talks a lot of sense. I think it would be fantastic if true.

Meh. If they do another I'd be happier with Korea. Not nearly enough material on that war. Arguably far more relevant to today's conflicts.

You're aware that Hindu/Sikh violence has been widespread in India?

Just bought 'Hadestown' by Anais Mitchell Favourite so far: a rich New Orleans rambunctiousness. Bouncy enough to please younger tastes, I'd warrant.

LOL. So you'd argue that calling you a 'dumb ****' would be identical to calling Nelson Mandela a 'dumb ****'? WTF, Volo? EDIT: insert racist term beginning with n.

An interesting article about piracy

I sincerely hope you are not aware how offensively racist the term 'monkey' can be if used in connection with coloured people?

I think they should duct tape chopsticks onto a pig's feet and let it loose on an outsized keyboard.

From memory radaway is something like 36 caps a shot. That's more than a basic laspistol or combat helmet. BTW, if you do the Outcast quests and sell them items in exchange for radaway you can come along later, kill the bloke and get it all back. Which is just logical, but I still like it.

discussion point: If people pirate when material is free, what chance is there that expensive material won't be pirated? -
If an MP wishes to remain in the seat for more than one election they generally have to work hard actually in the constituency. People are very forgiving of national trends if the MP is good enough, and vice versa. We saw something very illustrative in my constituency and others. Several senior Labour party scandal/incompetence monkeys were voted out this time. Having said that I'd be a bit of a tit if I claimed a lot of people don't vote on a national popularity basis. I'm simply saying that it won't save you if you are really rubbish.

I will look up the Nepalese point at the weekend. Perhaps one of us or both of us is a fantasist. However, unlike you I have put myself physically into my fantasies with the intention of helping people on numerous occasions, whereas you appear to be nothing more than a Walter Mitty. I ask you again, and there's no need to reference this: what do you claim to have done to actually meet and assist any of these people who need freedom? Which countries have you visited? However briefly? The Maoist People's War was yet another attempt by the people of Nepal to achieve democracy, and the first one to truly and unhesitatingly work. The Maoists want representation in the new government which they helped to build. They lawfully gained a huge number of votes and have nearly a majority all on their own; international election monitors don't deny that they gained this without the use of force. You have no intention of referencing what you've mentioned because it exists solely in your mind. ~There are a lot better ways to achieve personal power than communism~
