  1. Wait, so it could affect ALL the electrics in the house? With a possibility of widespread fires? I'm thinking we should train the neighbourhood up as a firefighting auxiliary.
  2. I also have to say that I love the way we go all armchair analyst every time something like this happens. Yet you look at the more 'mundane' enquiries that happen with virtually any police complaint and you find those are unresolvable a lot of the time. If you run with scissors, people get hurt.
  3. Ditto.
  4. Can we close this thread now? It seems in bad taste.
  5. What the ....? Oh jesus. But we were chatting on personal message and he seemed in great spirits. I mean I had a weird feeling something was up, which is why I sent him the parcel of books. But I never really considered him actually dying. I know I used to dust up with him in arguments, but I always thought he was a better man than he thought he was. Which in a way is the best description one can hope for. I'm actually very sad about this. Perhaps not because I knew him that well. But because I thought I'd wind up knowing him a lot better.
  6. Good lad. Character and equipment list?
  7. In pics What an unspeakable ****. As Bill Hicks said, "...And I'm still single."
  8. The expansions were actually pretty nice, the multiplayer was far stronger (I don't know how NWN2's multiplayer is now, but at release it was a mess) and the modding tools were easier to use, so we have a LOT MORE mods to play with, though, to be pretty honest, the average level of quality is lower than NWN2's. Also, some found the interface and absence of a party better, not to mention that the combat felt more alive with NWN's animations (.... they screwed up attacks of opportunity though, so I'm glad that Obsidian took them out, though they could have done a better job at making combat interesting to see). If the add ons were goood I don't want to slander them. But the original campaign was as much fun as being ordered around by that wheelchair guy in Little Britain.
  9. Damn. Caught out! Hang on... EDIT: RIGHT YOU BASTARD I've just reread all the previews. The only thing I can see to contradict me is that you get to choose missions elerium vs 'animal attacks'. You may or may not be able to go to multiple locations in the time available. So basically, a slight decrement in the strength of criticism 6. Everything else stands.
  10. I just realised today that the best thing for finding the proverbial 'needle in a haystack' is a collossal arse.
  11. If I faraday cage my office will that help?
  12. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/7...evastation.html Summary: In 2013 solar flares are likely to wreak havoc on electronic equipment. Proper havoc.
  13. I doubt we'll ever see that kind of reasoning from a management bozo. More like 'how can I hide all these horrible gamebreaking bugs while spending no extra cash on QA?'. You forget I know what the ****ers are like. "Oh. We seem to be having trouble delivering Eurofighter. I have an idea: Let's just not have planes! YAAAAAY!"
  14. Perhaps you have a vuvuzela inside your machine?
  15. You probably have no idea what you're talking about. Hold on. Let's check. Hands up, any commandos on the forum? Not I, but everything I was told in the military and have seen in semi-realistic military fiction is that you always shoot for the chest/center of mass so that you have a much better chance of hitting stuff. I'm not disagreeing with you there. As I understand it you want to hit a point dead centre, anywhere from the nose down to the bottom of the sternum. However, if your sights are set a few hundred yards too far away, and you factor in recoil it's possible (I have no idea how possible) that you'd shoot high.
  16. I was a suicide baby... with my umbilical cord around my neck. Or so I'm told... had zero lasting effect on me... I swear! I did think there was something odd about that scarf of yours.
  17. When not the soil, but the petals of the flower are sprinkled with water. When you put the coal on the mantlepiece, not the hearth.
  18. Sorry, mate. I just get annoyed at the thought that some management bozo will come on here, read about bugs pissing people off, and conclude that the best game ever will be totally bug free. Which is to say we can resign ourselves to playing nothing but 'use gun on man' for ever. I shouldn't have snapped at you.
  19. I can't compute how anyone could like NWN1 more than NWN2? Unless perhaps they were some sort of postman idiot savant.
  20. You probably have no idea what you're talking about. Hold on. Let's check. Hands up, any commandos on the forum?
  21. Given the choice between zero bugs and zero interesting content I'll take the interesting content. KTHANX?! As I've said before I think it's childish to expect multiple degrees of freedom in our games and not expect emergent behaviour - eg bugs. Otherwise how come they always come up in superlative RPGs and not bloody run'n'guns? What's the alternative explanation? That companies which make RPGs are staffed entirely by morons?
  22. Way to (almost) completely miss the point of the game, 2k. Judging by the trailer and the interface Fundamentals: 1. Alien menace with superior technology - CHECK 2. Human agency 'XCOM' - CHECK Missing: 3. Divided humanity, some aspects of which will attempt to actively obstruct XCOM 4. Teamwork and team building 5. Strong emphasis on building organisation of XCOM including: - Recruiting field agents and scientists - Collecting data from aliens including their weird alien technologies - Beg, buy, build, or steal your equipment 6. Strategic dimension in all combat. Try to save everyone or retreat to limited fortresses? Also: Given that the above should be familiar to most players in some way or another it is common sense that to be new and exciting players will need something other than core gameplay that is new and exciting. This means... 7. New aliens- CHECK 8. A novel environment. Certainly not one that we have now seen from a bazillion different angles - eg the 1950s.
  23. Is it just me or would it be really funny to drop in a massive load of bees just before half time? No-one would know what was going on, as the bees and the screams would be masked by vuzus.
  24. I was a premature baby too, with antibody problems (rhesus) and IT HASN'T DONE ME ANY HARM.
  25. 5 times? Just going by the posts here, btw. Me too. Sights error? Ranged at longer distance?
