  1. I'm with LC. Some of my earliest family memories are tearing at meat, and cracking bone marrow. OK that sounded weirder than it feels in my head. However, I confess I'm intrigued by the whole soylent thing. Which I actually think is very smart. Yes, it has bad connotations, but they are obviously wrong. But people talk about it. Imagine it was called 'nutritio 500', none of you would have even reacted.
  2. Just because it will arse the conversation sideways, but it's just occurred to me that the model for all this is just corporate normality. Corporations and governments are all moving to a full service model. Aren't they? You don't own stuff. You buy in a 'service'. From this perspective I am buying in a game 'service'. The thing is accountability. In theory buying a service with agreed levels should make your enjoyment safer. In my experience it ****s it sideways into a lion's ear.
  3. No, no. It's a real food product. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/06/14/soylent_experiment/ I have a mate who's considering it because he has long term gut problems.
  4. Have you tried that soylent food stuff?
  5. I think you're right about no lifting.
  6. Under what circumstances are you allowed to pick up an opposing player and run off with him, screaming "wub wub wub wub wub wub"? It's a tactic I only just thought of.
  7. *peers intently at Nepenthe's post, like a staffie examining poop*
  8. If you don't have a PC, how can you do the digital special effects on your home-brew Dr Who porn?
  9. If they had any humour, they should post a pic of them all lying in a big pile with Feargus sitting on top. PILES OF OBSIDIAN He'd certainly get some, sitting on that.
  10. I have a number of increasingly cunning and over-complicated methods for making money, and a totally inexplicable degree of feminine lunacy assaulting me. I am not aware of any gay nazis stalking me. But somehow me not being aware isn't very reassuring. I must try to sneak in some of the catchphrases from the show.
  11. Today I realised that in every way except being French, I am becoming Renee, from Allo Allo.
  12. You just had to voice that idea. Now it won't leave my head, and I keep thinking about different ways to **** with time travel to benefit porn. Hate you SO much. I blame Kaine.
  13. I would point out that I'm not sure you can get more wise than Ros. If by wise you mean an organised life. And if by organised you mean full of exciting fun times and not hurting people.
  14. Kaine, 1. I don't think the point my friend was making was that it was OK. The point was that a civilian is inherently less constrained against compromising fighting forces than a man who has freely volunteered, put on a uniform, and sworn brotherhood with those forces. 2. That's a very interesting point I've not heard before. I would counter that a large data dump is also unreliable. How do we know what information has been tampered with in a large release? Officials cannot usefully deny or confirm the material. 3. I don't have much faith in journalists over a properly accountable democratic institution. but I can't deny I'm happier than I would be with just running down the street flinging classified documents about. BTW, as an aside, the willingness of Russia and China to harbour this gentleman might say a little about the utility of "useful fools". After all, it's in their direct interests to give sanctuary to anyone leaking US/UK secrets.
  15. How about Olivia Newton John?
  16. I am going to have to face facts and drag myself to the supermarket to buy meat and eggs. And coffee. And maybe some brandy. No, not brandy. Bad Walsingham.
  17. We were talking about that yesterday: would you rather face 10 dog sized elephants, or one elephant sized dog. Obviously I chose the elephants.
  18. It suddenly occurs to me that you could run a bloody brilliant porn series based on the premise of doctor who.
  19. Feeling nostalgic? To use the vernacular: at least we have f***ing hands.
  20. I was talking to a friend about this , and he made some interesting points which I can respect, if not agree with. My friend's points were: 1) Silverman wasn't in uniform, he was bound by a civilian contract. This is very different from Manning's direct betrayal. 2) Silverman appears to have been selective about what he took. Unlike Manning. 3) Silverman went to a respected set of journalists. They arguably acted as a check on the responsible nature of the release, analogous to a Parliamentary or other process. Unlike Manning. I wondered what you chaps thought.
  21. Up betimes, and DEAR GOD MY HEAD HURTS. Found a bar which actually does a good old fashioned.
  22. Putin is one shiny-headed mother****er. I don't really see him as an octopus.
  23. There are many distinguishing features which separate a braai from a (British) barbecue. For starters the food is actually cooked. Secondly the men know how to make the fire properly. Thirdly, grilled or not, the food is home cooked and delicious.
  24. Thanks for the updates. If you have time it would be interesting to get your perspective on what the key features of the successful ones are.
  25. I guess we could use a spider. The Russian Platypus would also amuse me.
