Aw... buttocks.

I live outside London, so all the men wear check shirts. I honestly couldn't say what the women wear. *thinks* That's a bit worrying, actually.

The Science of Why We Don't Believe in Science
Walsingham replied to alanschu's topic in Way Off-Topic
I haven't time to read that now. But I'd politely point out that one reason not to believe in science today is that science yesterday very often turned out to be wrong. -
If anyone wants a kickstarter I'd chip in to put him in the Ecuadorian embassy in London with Assange. I'd find it hugely amusing to pack the plcae with pasty egomaniacal nerds. EDIT: @ Zoraptor I wanted to check my facts, and according to Wikipedia he leaked direct to Wikileaks. The leaks then got taken up by the media. He really does make me feel ill.

Gott straff England! My disguise is slipping!

The older I get the less interested I am in playing at evil. Evil, if made real or even slightly real, is the antithesis of roleplaying. Evil is about being fixated in self, and not understanding or caring about anyone else. Why the hell would you WANT a 'realistic' villain? It would be bloody awful.

Well, according to Wikipedia he wasn't given a specific sentence on conviction, although the judge stated he would likely never be eligible for parole. (Or words to that effect) I think it's because he was committed to mental hospital, as you say. It's interesting that he is still trying to act out his demented power fantasies. He wanted to commit the 'perfect' crime originally. But ultimately he's just a pathetic fool, whose only standout feature is a set of appetites you might find in lower mammals, and a concomitant inability to control them. All those lives taken away for this sorry sack of ****.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23034579 Ian Brady "makes himself toast every morning" despite having been on hunger strike since 1999, his mental health tribunal has heard. Brady is currently fed through a tube at Ashworth Hospital, but a nurse there said he is regularly given food and eats on "most days". Obviously the guy is scum. From Wikipedia: The Moors murders were carried out by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley between July 1963 and October 1965, in and around what is now Greater Manchester, England. The victims were five children aged between 10 and 17—Pauline Reade, John Kilbride, Keith Bennett, Lesley Ann Downey and Edward Evans—at least four of whom were sexually assaulted. The murders are so named because two of the victims were discovered in graves dug on Saddleworth Moor; a third grave was discovered on the moor in 1987, more than 20 years after Brady and Hindley's trial in 1966. The body of a fourth victim, Keith Bennett, is also suspected to be buried there, but despite repeated searches it remains undiscovered. I just like the fact that he's _consistently_ worthless. No need to concede admiration for his staying power on hunger strike.

I'm with LC. Some of my earliest family memories are tearing at meat, and cracking bone marrow. OK that sounded weirder than it feels in my head. However, I confess I'm intrigued by the whole soylent thing. Which I actually think is very smart. Yes, it has bad connotations, but they are obviously wrong. But people talk about it. Imagine it was called 'nutritio 500', none of you would have even reacted.

Just because it will arse the conversation sideways, but it's just occurred to me that the model for all this is just corporate normality. Corporations and governments are all moving to a full service model. Aren't they? You don't own stuff. You buy in a 'service'. From this perspective I am buying in a game 'service'. The thing is accountability. In theory buying a service with agreed levels should make your enjoyment safer. In my experience it ****s it sideways into a lion's ear.

No, no. It's a real food product. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/06/14/soylent_experiment/ I have a mate who's considering it because he has long term gut problems.
-
Have you tried that soylent food stuff?

I think you're right about no lifting.

Under what circumstances are you allowed to pick up an opposing player and run off with him, screaming "wub wub wub wub wub wub"? It's a tactic I only just thought of.

If you don't have a PC, how can you do the digital special effects on your home-brew Dr Who porn?

If they had any humour, they should post a pic of them all lying in a big pile with Feargus sitting on top. PILES OF OBSIDIAN He'd certainly get some, sitting on that.

I have a number of increasingly cunning and over-complicated methods for making money, and a totally inexplicable degree of feminine lunacy assaulting me. I am not aware of any gay nazis stalking me. But somehow me not being aware isn't very reassuring. I must try to sneak in some of the catchphrases from the show.

Today I realised that in every way except being French, I am becoming Renee, from Allo Allo.

You just had to voice that idea. Now it won't leave my head, and I keep thinking about different ways to **** with time travel to benefit porn. Hate you SO much. I blame Kaine.

I would point out that I'm not sure you can get more wise than Ros. If by wise you mean an organised life. And if by organised you mean full of exciting fun times and not hurting people.

Kaine, 1. I don't think the point my friend was making was that it was OK. The point was that a civilian is inherently less constrained against compromising fighting forces than a man who has freely volunteered, put on a uniform, and sworn brotherhood with those forces. 2. That's a very interesting point I've not heard before. I would counter that a large data dump is also unreliable. How do we know what information has been tampered with in a large release? Officials cannot usefully deny or confirm the material. 3. I don't have much faith in journalists over a properly accountable democratic institution. but I can't deny I'm happier than I would be with just running down the street flinging classified documents about. BTW, as an aside, the willingness of Russia and China to harbour this gentleman might say a little about the utility of "useful fools". After all, it's in their direct interests to give sanctuary to anyone leaking US/UK secrets.

How about Olivia Newton John?

I am going to have to face facts and drag myself to the supermarket to buy meat and eggs. And coffee. And maybe some brandy. No, not brandy. Bad Walsingham.

We were talking about that yesterday: would you rather face 10 dog sized elephants, or one elephant sized dog. Obviously I chose the elephants.
