I vote Ashanti robot hookers.

And now just for Raithe, Wendy Fiore

I would like it noted that I quite open to being bribed with escorts if the outcome is a 5 star rating for yet more FIFA or CoD. Anyone who buys those games is - as the poet said - "ordained to be sold".

That's an interesting notion. You are aware that the network of veins we have is quite as unique as a fingerprint? If we assume that the eye can pick out the vessels subconsciously, then the absence of that data would trigger a subconscious feeling of unease.

2000AD has run several stories where sexbots are central. Murders, thefts, etc.

I'm not sure that it works exactly like that, since clearly you will have repeat offenders among the males. I am pretty surprised how quick some of you are to deny that this is a real problem, considering you all spend a lot of time on the internet. There is a tremendous amount of disturbing bleep out there. Have you ever been to a club where a girl is way too intoxicated? I've seen groups of men move in like moths to a flame, and I can tell you, they aren't going over to her to be gentlemen. I guess it is somewhat refreshing that so many of you doubt these numbers, because maybe that means you all are good guys who treat women respectfully. That's important. But that also means we should believe women when they say they have been assaulted. I have to concur with Hurlshot when it comes to scale. I'm lucky enough to know some pretty strong women, and one of the most awful things I learned as we became friends is how many had been forced (or intimidated using force) into sexual activity. I reject the notion that most men think rape is OK. But this isn't like marriage. One male who is either ignorant or just doesn't care can affect multiple women. The more they do it, and don't get caught or otherwise stopped, the more they think it's OK, and the more they do it. Try also to imagine what rape is like to the victim. I'm not sure you can. I'm extremely fortunate in that I have been threatened with rape and got out of it (a foreign policeman, but that's another story). I'm not a weak person, but when I realised it was on the cards I got within a millimetre of going completely to pieces. It was absolutely bloody awful. 100 times worse than knowing you're going to get a beating. First timers, :sighs: Wait, what? After a while you sort of tune it out or it doesn't bother you that much. Not to be crude, old boy. But I pray god my ringpiece shall always seem precious in the face of sweaty bug-eyed weirdoes.

Definitely on the mend today. I can breathe in fine, I only cough on the way out. Actually *checks* as long as I breathe through my nose I'm fine either way. Damaged my soft palette I think. How interesting. Anyway, late autumn here. Bought a bottle of good red wine earlier and am listening to Bob Dylan and remembering pretty girls.

I believe he prefers the term 'Belgie'

He's Austrian, not Australian. He's also a thoughtful contributor to the forums, and I look forward to his return, if he's reading this.

This is the point. real life machinery isn't like a computer game. Fitting new sights or other electronics takes years of planning, engineering, and development. Look at how long it's taking to the British Army to upgrade our Warrior IFVs. That was starting when I was in the TA, and it's still not completed. In any event we're allowing this to become a debate fixated on a single photograph. the much more important point is to query how the rebels are operating so many advanced systems. Not just tanks, but artillery and SAMs. The scale of operation is equally significant.

I've been sick, lying in bed, so I've hit Netflix like a pop culture locust. 6 seasons of stargate, 3 seasons of House, and every feature film on there worth a damn except Robocop. I don't think my system could cope with my being enraged by Robocop. Stargate SG-1 is actually not bad, if you read between the lines it's got some interesting commentary about power, and the US government. Could definitely benefit from prettier aliens.

Lol, when foreigners use word "depression" they're IRL don't understand what this word mean. And what exactly would you know about it?

Filing everyone's DNA would make the database large and unweildy and eat budget while adding millions of perfectly harmless people. In the UK evidence is collected from even minor crimes (note this is a local force policy thing), and stored. Years ago I helped the cops with a rape case where the perpetrator was caught thanks to them having smashed a phone box the year before and cut their hand. They were caught for that crime, and subsequently got caught for the rape. Plus, and I don't think I'm being needlessly coy by not specifying, sexual violence doesn't have to leave behind 'red hand' DNA. Because in the most serious cases it's either premeditated or frankly just about violence. Note from the old and wise: don't look into this area in any detail unless you are happy losing your innocence. I've seen some awful things, but nothing comes close to the sheer parboiled evil of predatory rapists for frequency and sadistic malevolence.

I hope you have positive ID on those strangers. It sounds like they may also be mutant sympathisers.

I believe the honourable member should check his member.

I would certainly reject Bruce VC's central theses: that we [defined here as the UK/US] have a culture of rape. We do have too much rape. But if anything our culture - as you say - has made it illegal and dedicates substantial resources to prosecuting and punishing it. A conviction for rape - unless you're some PoS desperate football team - is endsville for your social acceptance. The culture can hardly be accused of condoning the bloody thing. In addition I do not see anything wrong or inconsistent with refusing to believe that our cherished icons have not committed rape. And of refusing to believe allegations. Again, this suggests that culturally we see rape as incompatible with virtue or our affection. The only weakness, if weakness there is, lies in proving rape in a criminal trial. That's not due to bad culture. That's an issue for forensic science.

Hope your friend's OK, Raithe. She sounds like she's been in the wars.
