  1. I'll try to address these languages:If you're into .NET stuff (it can pay to be), rather have a look at C#. I have programmed a lot in VB, but know next to nothing about VB.NET. All you can do in VB.NET, you can do in C# as well. C++ pays if you want to delve deeper into lower level programming. It's also not dependent on a Microsoft platform, unlike C# and VB.NET. Leave J alone, I'd say, and go directly for Java and not the Microsoft version. As to what the previous posters mentioned: I don't like ASP, and I wonder why someone with an antipathy for VB would mention it The rest I agree with.

  5. May have gotten him interested in magick Yeah, followers of the church of satan are egomaniacs, completely indoctrinated to only do what benefits themselves (and gives the curch money - not actually believing in satan or their own rituals... opportunistic idiots, reflecting the state of the world ), but if that man in the story was one of them, I don't see what it has to do with anything The letter doesn't sound much like it anyway. Well, it's probably said to make it all sound more interesting than just talking of a homosexual pedophile jealous murderer...

Yes, but you know what, I think it works: It has nVidia back at the "fastest available card" position, even if it is not by much and costs a LOT of silicon (two really big chips) - it immediately will glow back to the less-than-glorious GTX 280 and 260, and the upcoming 285 is going to improve the situation further. I'd guess this is a mission accomplished for nVidia here.
  9. Hi Sammael! Nice to see you again, and thanks for the quote and the update!

As superfluous to me as the ati 48xxX2 and the other GX2s *shrug* stop spreading fud. My old 6800GT wouldn't run NWN1 with AA and couldn't start (ironically) PoP at all - does that make nVidia rubbish? My G400 used to cause colored stripes on my desktop after a certain game I've forgotten - does that make Matrox rubbish? My current ATI is running with handbrake on if using AA in the Witcher - does that make ATI rubbish? It's just FUD.
  18. this is incorrect, it's a plain text file. It contains information about what to run, what icons to use etc.*.inf files normally are setup information files, but still they're just text
  19. Do you have a soundcard by Creative? I remember once having need of this here: https://www.winhelpline.info/forum/news-arc...ctor-patch.html
  20. I actually use autoplay to give my harddisk-drives a nice icon via a autorun.inf You could go so far as to superficially protect your drives or iirc even folders by giving them icons suggesting they're something else and an autostart property that will cause e.g. Word to launch instead of the folder to open when someone double clicks them Anyway: Turning indexing off (Win XP): Open My Computer. Rightclick on the harddisk icon you want to disable indexing for -> properties -> uncheck the box "index drive for faster searching" (or similar, I've got a german OS). CD / DVD drives do not offer indexing and thus not this feature. Turning Autoplay on / off (Win XP): Open My Computer. Rightclick on drive icon you want to change autoplay settings for -> autoplay (tab). Change the settings to whatever you like. Iirc the system will check for the disk inserted non the less, it just won't autostart.

Oh, it's a beautiful and fun game I had quite a high temperature today and yesterday, yet needed to learn for an examn on monday - this was a partially surreal experience, always on the brink of a fever dream about semaphores and monitors, scheduling with stupid multilevel feedback queues...
