Update me on the state of PC's
I'm not a shell-master either... But I recently had that problem with running a bash-script with said sh-user According to this, Panther and newer use bash as standard as well. Couldn't find anything on automatic shell switching after (a short time) looking for it on google.

Haha, you may be right conerning the speed-increase when considering harddisk accesses because of swapping and graphics performance (even if the mini isn't teh grafix b0mb). Concerning my remark about Mac OS: This wasn't intended to suppose you said it was the ultimate OS, it just means I think there are a lot of deficiencies in its concept and execution. I think the duck-typing illustrates my point however, even if it was poorly phrased before: If you don't know what you're doing because you don't have to, it's hard to find out why something fails. The lack of necessity to declare what object-type you're expecting for a method y (which you can simulate that in other languages than Python as well, by just requiring an Object instead of a more specific class)* in the case of duck-typing can leave you in the dark why the method x of the argument couldn't be called inside y. Equivalent, if you don't know that this-and-that thing causes problems with sh but not bash, it's really hard to debug a shell programming problem that could arise if the OS thinks you're using sh. In contrast, if you know you use sh, it's obvious what you can and cannot do, and it's easier to google for problems. About Ubuntu: As far as I know, the shells are still specific. Had to reset the shell for my DB2 user to bash, because it was only using sh. *: had to scrap that, it's not true. You cannot use specialized methods of an Object-class object without causing an error message already before runtime unless you cast it.

I currently need to apply that stuff to describe assimilation effects in different social conditions. It's not all bad once you get used to it by applying it for practical purposes.

Update me on the state of PC's
I don't think a 2GHz C2D is four times faster than a 1.4GHz Pentium M And while mac minis are nice little fellows, I'm not sure Mac OS is the cleverest thing invented to date: Great, so even the console users of the future won't have a clue what they're actually doing...

Ah I see, once the husband fails on the car check, hit on the neighbour doing better work on his car... Passed an examn today, while not with flying colours, it was sufficient. A little more pressure lifted off me

COOP
We played Rogue Spear a lot, I liked it. "You go right, I'll take the left" - "Cover my back" etc., was like in the movies, and a lot livelier at LAN parties than deathmatches or capture-the-flag stuff I don't know if there's an active community though.

PC version
Yeah that's true by now, but what do you count as 'wide aspect ratio'? 16:9 isn't 16:10 isn't cinema standard isn't Imax etc. pp. You can stretch it though - for many monitors there's options in the OSD or if using the graphics card for scaling, in the driver. Not that I'd recommend that, but it probably wouldn't be too bad for 16:9->16:10. This argument is invalid, especially if it's true that Mirror's Edge only supports HDTV-resolutions, as ME uses the Unreal Engine as well. Not supporting different resolutions is pure lazyness on the dev's side, any 3D engine is basically able to render any number of pixels. [edit] Oh yes, as someone brought it up: If this would be a 'Games for Windows Live' game, this would truly be an unnecessary bothering of customers...

New IGN walkthrough video
[rant]Wow, looks very yesteryear, esp. the bland low polygon surroundings using like one texture and the movement. And yes, the pink sunglasses... They don't look trashy, or funny, or anything except out of place. All that in combination with time pressure in dialogues shows that this game aims in other directions than I normally prefer [/rant] Good to hear that it's continuously improved though

Installing Ubuntu
I didn't have a link because I read it earlier that day not on my PC Yes, it was concerning delayed allocations, and writing out metadata first pointing to data that hasn't been written yet. Which I agree with Linus is a complete BS idea. Every crash will result not only in lost data, but seemingly available data and wasted space etc. The amusing part was Linus' choice of words which was rather direct. Maybe it's somewhere here: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/811167/

What you did today
I took some time off yesterday, enjoying the nice weather wandering around the city with an old colleague. This resulted in working today from 3 to 11 (now), and I won't go to the first few hours of university tomorrow to be able to finish some work for a seminar. And I still haven't had the time to learn for the examn on tuesday. I love weekends

Oh, don't let your ships there at night! Close all doors shut when sun goes down, or you'll use your population to- CIA torture directives
Blowing someone up is a faster and more convenient death than torture is for both those that die from it and those who survive. Also, what does it matter if they're women? (I see the rationale behind children's deaths being seen as worse than adults') Haha, if people don't confess in an interrogation, they certainly tell the truth under torture Remember, people confessed to have had sex with the devil in the past... And having flown through the air on a broom. Those that didn't confess that stuff were tortured some more, before being drowned (waterboarding, anyone?) and if they survived that, it was considered proof for their hellish bonds  Nowadays, that last part is replaced by indefinite arrest without trial and a little more torture every now and then. Coupled with indoctrination into extremism and crime that comes for free that (also mentally) survive long enough  GOD above all bless you, defendants of the truly holy practice of finding truth! I can't believe the ridiculousness of talking about such obvious things. Reminds me of "is sexual education harmful". Really, it's incredible how the average mental level hasn't risen past the medieval times. Aufkl - The Music Thread
