  1. So, clarification for someone who is technology-stunted: Does the PS4 slim allow for surround sound as long as you use a HDMI cable? Or is even that requiring some workaround like with the lack of optical port?
  2. Wasn't Avellone part owner/founder of Obsidian? The way he talks, it sounds like it's coming from some lowly assistant who was treated poorly by every manager he worked under.
  3. I think the popularity of the Batman games is it's probably the best series to allow fans an opportunity to play through an episode or movie of their favorite superhero. Is the story in any of the games top notch? Not really, but then again that was a criticism of a lot of the movies/shows. Is the combat a little cheesy? Yes, but it's still kind of fun to play as Batman and see your character pummel bad guys like you read about in the comics. Basically, for me, Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, etc. gave me a chance to play through a world where I'm Batman better than any other game out there.
  4. Huh? Are you saying PS4 slim doesn't work with surround sound setups? Exactly. They removed the optic sound out (spdif) in order to "save space". It was a very poor choice on Sony's behalf. I just noticed you mentioned optic audio. I don't even use that currently, I use HDMI. I'm guessing it's only the setups that still use the audio out cables that are affected?

  7. I really can't decide whether to just get a PS4 slim or go for a PS4 Pro. The slim is almost $150 cheaper right now, and I'm not sure how much I'd benefit from the Pro. But I also don't want to get a slim and then realize just how much I've missed out on.
  8. I'm craving for some Star Wars action, so when Battlefront 2 gets released that might push me over the edge to buy a new console to replaced my PS4. I'm torn though. There's some stuff about the Xbox One X that intrigues me, but on the other hand I've got a huge library of PS4 games, so it wouldn't make much sense not to get a PS4 Pro.
  9. I saw that you could even play the old original Xbox KOTOR games. That alone almost got me to buy one.
  10. I figured they were just taking advantage of the new 280 character limit on twitter.
  11. Probably too soon to ask, but have you noticed any differences (positive) between the XBox One X and the previous iteration?
  12. I can hardly wait for The Last of Us 2. Though I have no clue who those characters are in the trailer.
  13. That's disappointing. So I take it it's shorter than the last full game?
  14. I mean, is any of this even new? We've known for years how exploitive (for lack of a better word) the game industry can be to its workers. It seems like it's suddenly "come to light" because of a few complaints about the newest industry darling (CDPR), not because this is somehow a new thing.
  15. I'm really surprised they haven't slashed the price yet. Maybe they're waiting to get closer to X-Mas? You'd think it makes more sense to do it right around the release of the XBox X since it would be kind of like, "why buy that new, $550 console when you can buy this impressive PS4 Pro for half that!". If they wait until Christmas (or Boxing Day sales), they'll have stiff competition from XBox also similarly lowering prices.
  16. PS4 doesn't seem to be trying too hard to keep me as a customer. At a time when the new XBox X is set to be released, the only console that's on sale is the XBox S. PS4 (and primarily PS4 Pro) are still at full price.
  17. "EA’s Star Wars ‘pivot’ is a vote of no confidence in single-player games" https://www.polygon.com/2017/10/18/16491188/ea-star-wars-visceral-games-single-player Sobering thought for us fans who vastly prefer single player.
  18. I didn't like the first boss fight (err... end of first half fight?). I can't recall the specifics, but I remember being annoyed by it.
  19. Shouldn't the PS4 Pro and previous XBox One S be going down in price about now with the release of the XBox One X? All I see is the same $450 to $550 price range for those consoles.
  20. For the love of God, eff the hell off, EA. Reading how they're going to "overhaul" the Star Wars game, it sounds like yet again they're going to go for a more Co-op/MP game than the original single player adventure game. If that ends up being the case -- and that's how it sounds -- I'm so sick of every friggin' game having to be MP.
  21. Glad to hear this. When I finally pick up my new PS4 (old one is still messed up), I'm going to be picking up PoE for it.
  22. I wonder how much of its sales were due to name recognition (ie. fans of the previous trilogy bought it regardless of ratings/reviews), but it didn't generate the type of new sales that Bio/EA expected beyond the already existing fans.
  23. This was one of the reasons I sucked at Hardcore mode for CoD MP. Every single time I'd get one of those airstrikes or area destruction-like rewards for a kill streak, I'd end up killing more of my own team than the enemy.
  24. I actually thought it was pretty cool. Well, the story parts anyways. The combat was wonky since they allowed you to issue commands, but it wasn't in actual "pause". It was in slow motion (from what I recall), and you had to move about the map trying to see where the enemies were, all while your character was moving and the enemies were moving into position.
